Location is amazing!! Amenities are great! We enjoyed our stay here. We enjoyed the spa at night…read more The spa is the size of a small pool. The pool is also heated. Main courtyard is full of activity. They offer beach workout and yoga in the morning on the lawn facing the beach. No breakfast included so we bought a $20 breakfast burrito at Sugar Beats which is an Airstream in the middle of a courtyard by the spa. The coffee in the room was good so I had that. They offer surrey rentals to use on the bike path in front of the resort. They have a small but well equipped fitness center. Couple of issues: ants in the bathroom, completely empty shower gel and sink had drainage issues.

I have had a membership here for 3 years and have loved coming to the hotel to utilize what the membership has to offer. One of the "offers" is that we are given a pool pass to use throughout the year and I thought we were able to bring guests, but I guess that's not the case. I called the front desk and was transferred to Elizabeth who was rude from the get go. I asked if I could use my pool pass for a family member and she said no - only you can use it and the pass is verified with a number on the back of the card. My card does not have this number, and she accused me of lying. She also was extremely unprofessional and said "I don't know what to tell you girlfriend" when I asked if there is anything she could do to help resolve the situation. I told her that I was excited to renew my $350 membership this year but now I will not be renewing because of her unsatisfactory service. Her response was extremely sarcastic saying "Thanks for your phone call!". I expected a lot more from this highly rated hotel. I will not be going back ever again, and people who live in The Colony or surrounding areas should take note of this.

This is a great little hotel right on the beach! Check in…read morewas easy and the staff were so friendly. Had a king room on the 2nd floor. It was clean, spacious and had everything I would need. They have done some updating. The fan they now provide is a new small but very efficient Woozoo fan, not the one they show in the older review pictures. The fireplace was nice and the bathroom was modern and updated. There is a desk & chair along with two charging outlets on the desk and dresser area. They have an ice machine that was always full alongside a vending machine. The only suggestion I would make is to provide a plastic bag for the ice bucket, for sanitary reasons. Luckily, I had one with me. The balcony was very nice with two comfortable chairs and a nice size table. The views were spectacular of the beach. It was very foggy during my stay so no sunset but that happens sometimes. There are several restaurants within a very short walk from the hotel and beach access is easy. It was quiet at night and the sliding door to the balcony had a security bar so you could leave it open a few inches or all the way if you wanted to. The sounds of the waves crashing on the shore made for such a peaceful and restful sleep. They have a good size refrigerator in the room that kept everything really cold and a coffee maker with the regular & decaf pods along with powdered creamer & sugar. The complimentary breakfast consists of cereal, muffins & pastries along with coffee. I thought it was a nice touch. I will definitely recommend this hotel to family & friends and my brother & SIL are already planning to stay here soon. I can't wait to come back, this is my new go to when not camping here in Ventura!

Staff were fabulous - especially Angela whom aided us when we got stuck on the balcony when the latch on the door locked on the inside. The included continental breakfast is light but still ok. Parking is available on the premises.

WiFi could use work but for me it was no major issue. You can see its family owned and run by people who try there best to get what matches your needs. While outside smoking, the owner of the hotel insisted we go back into our rooms because we were causing a disruption. He then threatened to call the police (note we were only outside smoking, hardly talking to each other). Our disruption was listening to the guests tell us how crappy this place was when they had to be moved from one room to the next because their toilet flooded after the adjacent room to them finished showering. The pool was filthy, the place is just a complete mess, and the owner is a jackass and a liar. After threatening us and telling us to leave, he insisted that we hadn't yet been charged. Wrong. A quick check on my phone showed that my credit card was charged approximately $600 for the 5 nights we planned on staying there. We quickly left for the Embassy Suites in Oxnard. This place was gigantic, really nice, and extremely accommodating. Even though the pool was closed, the lady let us into the jacuzzi to relax after a long day. Our room was huge, clean, and even had a nice patio. After telling the hotel what happened, they were willing to give the room to us for $100 whereas it normally costs $300. Go anywhere but Del Playa Inn. Sleep in a parking lot if you have to, you'd probably be more comfortable and it just might be a tad cleaner.

Additionally, the check-in process was notably efficient and friendly, setting a welcoming tone. However, several areas presented challenges during our visit. Firstly, the persistent noise emanating from the downstairs bar was a considerable disturbance, making it difficult to achieve restful sleep throughout the night. Our room offered a partial view of the beach from inside, there's a balcony with chairs to hang out at. We discovered that multiple electrical outlets, particularly those conveniently located at the center and bedside tables, were non-operational, which proved to be a significant inconvenience for charging devices. The air conditioning unit's vent was positioned too close to one of the beds, creating an uneven distribution of cool air and preventing proper circulation across the entire room. It also became apparent that the room's layout, despite being a 2-Queen bed configuration designed for up to four people, felt cramped and better suited for a single King-sized bed, as evidenced by the lack of adequate space and amenities such as only one luggage stand. The bathroom also presented its own set of issues. The bathtub drained remarkably slowly, which was both unhygienic and inconvenient. We also noted the absence of sufficient amenities, with only one hook available for towels or garments, and a semi-transparent door that offered inadequate privacy. Finally, there are the additional costs associated with what we typically consider standard hotel services. The requirement for paid parking, whether the $10/day self-parking option in a dimly-lit adjacent public building or the $18/day valet service, added expenses to our budget. Similarly, the lack of complimentary water bottles and the paid breakfast option, while not uncommon, detracted from the perceived value of the stay.

I was in the back of the hotel so I was able to park in the back of the parking lot and come in through the side door and just go up to the second floor very easy. They had your typical eggs, bfast meats (non pork would have been nice though), potatoes, fruit, oatmeal, etc. You can also have omelettes, pancakes and waffles made to order. Tip: go early bc they get slammed and it will take a while to get seated and you'll have to work really hard to flag someone down. 2) Room size: we had a king and the room was spacious and also had a small sectional. There was enough room for two people to spread their stuff out and still have room to move around. 3) Front desk: Great service, friendly and very responsive on the messaging service through the app. Cons: 1) Beds: Nothing compared to Westin beds. There was a mattress topper that was too small so it kept moving around, pretty annoying. Pillows were lumpy and not firm. 2) Bathroom: Small and no exhaust fan so the entire hotel room would get super humid after a shower. Thankfully it was cool outside so we opened the window to get air circulation. The shower sliding doors were hard to maneuver and water pooled at the bottom of the shower after a few minutes. 3) Musty smell - self explanatory Overall it's a solid option, minimal frills but definitely sufficient. Some reviews said there was a lot of construction noise but we didn't hear it at all. 4) Parking fee - The fee was $16 so while that's not an exorbitant amount, I really don't think suburban hotels should be charging a fee to park.
