Rooms are not cleaned daily by housekeeping, so don't expect that. The pool is small, but the hot tub is big. We tried to order drinks and food at the pool, but that wasn't available despite having order tags on all the chairs at the pool. They do have a small bar next to the pool, but I didn't venture over there. Towels are at the pool and there is an attendant there who takes your room number when you pick them up. But, they constantly leave and that's a problem as they take your room number when you pick them up! So, I'm hoping I didn't get charged for any towels I returned. On a positive note, the hotel has direct beach access and that was the highlight of our weekend getaway! You can walk directly from the hotel to the sand and you can rent beach at the hotel which is nice. The rest of the hotel, outside of our room was really nice.

The room was large, nice, clean, comfy. I would definitely stay there again, if the prices stay reasonable and I am in the area again. Photos attached.

They have done some updating. The fan they now provide is a new small but very efficient Woozoo fan, not the one they show in the older review pictures. The fireplace was nice and the bathroom was modern and updated. There is a desk & chair along with two charging outlets on the desk and dresser area. They have an ice machine that was always full alongside a vending machine. The only suggestion I would make is to provide a plastic bag for the ice bucket, for sanitary reasons. Luckily, I had one with me. The balcony was very nice with two comfortable chairs and a nice size table. The views were spectacular of the beach. It was very foggy during my stay so no sunset but that happens sometimes. There are several restaurants within a very short walk from the hotel and beach access is easy. It was quiet at night and the sliding door to the balcony had a security bar so you could leave it open a few inches or all the way if you wanted to. The sounds of the waves crashing on the shore made for such a peaceful and restful sleep. They have a good size refrigerator in the room that kept everything really cold and a coffee maker with the regular & decaf pods along with powdered creamer & sugar. The complimentary breakfast consists of cereal, muffins & pastries along with coffee. I thought it was a nice touch. I will definitely recommend this hotel to family & friends and my brother & SIL are already planning to stay here soon. While outside smoking, the owner of the hotel insisted we go back into our rooms because we were causing a disruption. He then threatened to call the police (note we were only outside smoking, hardly talking to each other). Our disruption was listening to the guests tell us how crappy this place was when they had to be moved from one room to the next because their toilet flooded after the adjacent room to them finished showering. The pool was filthy, the place is just a complete mess, and the owner is a jackass and a liar. After threatening us and telling us to leave, he insisted that we hadn't yet been charged. Wrong. A quick check on my phone showed that my credit card was charged approximately $600 for the 5 nights we planned on staying there. We quickly left for the Embassy Suites in Oxnard. This place was gigantic, really nice, and extremely accommodating. Even though the pool was closed, the lady let us into the jacuzzi to relax after a long day. Our room was huge, clean, and even had a nice patio. After telling the hotel what happened, they were willing to give the room to us for $100 whereas it normally costs $300. Pier view isn't great, and the sounds of music from The Aloha steakhouse, constantly made into the room on the 9th floor. I was the second room from the furthest point and still didn't have much of a view. I had a small balcony which provided fresh air and a place to dry wet bathing suits. At least 3 times a day you would hear the loud train noise even on the 9th floor; I'd suggest the sunset view vs pier view going forward. The restroom was extremely small, the water pressure was low at all times; sink and shower. The sliding barn door had frosted glass which blinded the entire room with the bathroom lights on in a dark room; poor design choice as the door was only 1-2 feet away from the bed. The pool was heated but not @80 degrees as described; complementary towels available at the front desk. Drinks are allowed on the pool deck but must be in plastic; no glass allowed. The Aloha bar had friendly bartenders with decent food and drink options; I wasn't a fan of the ahi salad, it had too much wasabi in the dressing. The hotel was located about a 5min drive from downtown Ventura and a 10min walk, this location wasn't as centrally located like the Clocktower hotel but likely less noise from foot traffic. Late check out @1 is complementary and prioritized with IHG rewards members, however I was not allowed the option. I doubt I'd return due to the above mentioned. Late check out should always be an option.

From the second we pulled up, the service was non-existent. The valet staff didn't bother to greet us or offer to help with our luggage; apparently, their personal conversation was far more important than paying customers. When we tried to check in around 2:00 PM, the front desk informed us that the available rooms were right next to the noisy freeway. However, they promised that if we were willing to wait two hours, they could place us in a room with an ocean view. We patiently waited the entire two hours. When we finally checked in and went up to our assigned room, where was it? Right next to the freeway and right next to the train tracks. The massive, constant noise from the freeway traffic and passing trains made the room unbearable. They flat-out lied to us after making us waste two hours of our trip just to stick us in a room with intolerable noise from both sides. Frustrated, we called down to the front desk to get this corrected. Instead of fixing their mistake, they brushed us off and claimed a manager would contact us. By 4:30 PM--with a 5:00 PM dinner reservation fast approaching and still no word from management--I called back for an update. The front desk agent answered with pure attitude, treating me like I was the inconvenience. She rudely snapped that they were "busy" and that the manager would get to us whenever they felt like it. The unbearable noise, utter lack of communication, complete disrespect from the staff, and dishonest room promises ruined our stay. Management clearly does not care about guest satisfaction, and the front desk staff acts like customer service is a burden. Do yourself a favor and book anywhere else in Ventura.

Solid Marriott right up the street from the beach…read more.. I stayed here while in town for work. While this wasn't the nicest Marriott I've stayed at, it was respectable and I enjoyed my stay. Situated on busy Harbor Blvd., the hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the beach. There are a few local watering holes within a 10 minute walk (Social Tap & Dukes) and about a 20 minute walk to the pier where other restaurants are located... Recommend checking out Ericsson's Seafood Co., as it was outstanding with the quintessential Cali beach bar vibes. The hotel itself was nice... It looks to be recently updated, kept clean/tidy, well-kept pool, big fitness center, and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Added bonus if you're from the Midwest like me... There's an In n' Out directly across the street. Overall, good Marriott and worth the stay if visiting Ventura Beach.

The staff seemed to be trying hard, but it felt like they were either understaffed or not properly trained. The biggest issue for me, however, was the lack of service in the M Club Lounge. I arrived Friday night and checked out Sunday morning, and during that entire time the lounge was never properly restocked, refreshed, serviced, or even cleaned. As a Lifetime Titanium member, that was extremely disappointing. At that point, it makes you question why you chose this Marriott property in the first place when the key elite benefit isn't being maintained. I honestly would have considered another Marriott property -- or even a Hilton -- had I known. I brought the issue up to the front desk, but they seemed somewhat oblivious to the fact that this is a core guest amenity issue, not just something reserved for weekday corporate travelers. The hotel definitely has potential, but it needs stronger management attention and better operational oversight to deliver the level of experience expected from the brand.

He went on to explain to me that "since I don't work there" I have no idea how difficult it was for them to apparently take her credit card info and nothing else and all the "expertise" this required, so I would have to pay $125 cancellation fee or they would "go out of business". All I did was call and ask about the cancellation process and he was completely unprofessional in his response.
