Zero Stars, talk about ridiculous and outrageous bid given to NOT DO the job. $700-$750 on a very small areas 5 1/2 times more from my other highest bid and their justification is safety is a priority. Since, when is a few sheets of plastic drops as drapery, to cover cabinets and masking tape a hazard!!! There's no height issue and a huge recessed light with trim matching cabinetry. They aren't very astute and think because I'm an older person, I would say "sure buddy" (rip me off) I hope no other seniors citizens, will overpaid for their services. There are better handymen, and women who can do it better, have craftsmanship in mind, and all for a fair price. See photos of our discussion for a good laugh! When I bought my house late last year, the gate and about 28' of an old metal pool fence were missing, so the 2/3 that was left served no purpose at all and made it more difficult to maintain my lawn. It was not the lowest bid I received, but after comparing quotes from several companies and working with Herman to confirm the terms, I decided to schedule with Construction Valdes. They arrived early on a Sunday morning. All I had to do was show them to the pool, and they got right to work. Juan and Sandy are both wonderful in handling projects, and clients. They even make sure to follow through until the project is done. They were able to do 3 projects already and in each one of those are excellently done. I am very satisfied with the quality, speed, and most of all the price is fair. They over deliver in their work. One project was estimated for 3-4 days but it was done in 2 days. Their work ethics is very good. They make sure to ask questions before doing anything just to make sure that things are done as to my liking. They don't waste their time when they do any projects, they want it done ASAP. They speak spanish mostly in which I don't speak the language but it was no problem in making the project happen because Sandy can translate. The method of payment is pretty smooth. The reasons that I gave 1 star is ripped off and unprofessional. The owner and his employee(also translate to his boss) came on (February.26,2022) to talk and look at the jobs that I need help and I did told them upfront that I would like to get a quote for labor only(if I can buy materials myself) and labor+materials. The jobs are insert woods top of 8 windows outside and caulk it and trim it, install security windows bar for 8 windows (the owner counted as 10 windows),install 2 security metal doors,install 2 glass doors at standing showers,3 mash cover at crawl space and 2 mash covers air holes below the roofs/by attic outside of the house . So they said "Ok" and will give me estimates by next Wednesday. Some lady called me on Tuesday@12:33pm that she will give me estimates tomorrow and they are still working on it. I said "Ok". She called back @7:01pm and said estimates is $5000 ($3000 for labor and $2000 for materials). I said to her that I would like to see actual estimates invoice that break down the cost of labor and materials. I did also told her that $3000 for labor is way too much because I don't know how much they charge for installation of security metal doors and shower doors. Usually cost around $100 each security metal door and $150- $225 each for shower door. But still way too much for $3000. She said that she will talk to her boss and call me back. I said "Ok". No one call me back for 2 days. On Friday she called me and said the boss will give $200 off from the labor which is $2800 and materials is still $2000. So I said only $200 off and $2800 for labor is still way too much. She said she will talk to her boss again and she will call me back the following week because it's Friday. I am writing this post on March.11,2022 (Friday) and no one call me the whole week to negotiate the price. That's why I said unprofessional. I won't recommend anyone to this handyman and I will stay far far far far away and not dealing with this kind of people because ripped off. I would give 0 star if there's such. I gave 1 star to be generous that they came (by the way they were also 15mins late. Excuse was GPS gave them the wrong direction.) read more
