I have to share my experienced with constant contact. I signed up a pretrial few days ago by name Matt. As I checking their platform, I noticed that there was no video marketing for facebook and instagram. Before I signed up, I asked Matt if they have video marketing and he said, yes. Once, I signed up there was none. So I called Matt and left a voicemail and text message, he doesn't answer my phone call anymore. I expected a refund for $45 since this was only a pretrial. Worst company in the world. The sales guy lied and said they had the best tech support 24/7. Its Monday I have tried to get tech support for 2 hours I just signed up and do not know how to get started. Sales guy said everyone who works for the company are in the US. I had to speak to 4 different people today to get the cancellation complete and 3 of the 4 were not US based. Then they would not give me a refund until they listed to the sales rep recorded call with me confirming he was a dishonest person which he was. 100 percent disaster complete waist of time. Buyer beware! I found the product very confusing. I used it for a while and eventually decided to cancel. They make cancelling very difficult, and, after they ran out the clock on the next payment, they ask you a lot of questions, and then do not issue a refund. I don't recall any advance notice of charges. All in all, ugh. read more

DO NOT PREPAY ON YOUR ACCOUNT. THEY DO NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY. We are out $1057 and that is a lot of money for a Non-Profit. We terminated our account with them after using the service for 10+ years for email marketing. Problems started to occur when the library's Communications Manager decided to sign up for their SMS messaging services and then the company decided to increase its prices due to their wish to develop more AI capabilities into their software. The product is over priced and does not work well. There is no ticket system to keep track of error issues so they never remember your problems when contacting them again in regard to the issue. Contacts could not resubscribe after unsubscribing (CC was informed of the error and their Software Engineer ignored the issue) Constant Contact emails cannot embed in Google forms and this was a big issue for us. There are multiple other issues with them as well, but the worst part about them is they do not inform you when you call to cancel your account that they have a no-refund policy and that you need to request termination of your account at least 31 days prior to the end of the current Term. I received that information in an email after I had called and spoke to a Customer Service rep about our refund, and wanted to know why our balance of $1057 had not been refunded. He stated that we needed to have terminated our account 31 days prior to the end of the current term. I asked him if that would be when we paid the amount (October) or when we previously paid an invoice (August)? I said either way, I cancelled our account on June 29th, and that was far more than 31 days. All he could do was say, "Umm, not sure, and that they are reviewing your request." Ten minutes later I received an email from their Billing Department with prior information listed. read more

(NOTE: After writing the review, below, they did finally refund the second payment. So I'm amending my review by adding this note and I've given another star. I still think they have a long way to go, but props to them for at least taking the right step.) Everything about this company was horrible. I was told I was signing up for an introductory plan and would be charged for only one month, i.e., $34.50. I was hesitant that they could help me, but the guy I spoke to was insistent and assured me that 'the team' would put a 'rush' on it and develop something for me within a few days, which is what I needed. But instead they didn't finish it for almost 2 weeks and it wasn't anything like I needed. And I lost the account, due to the delay. I sent an email of complaint, but he wouldn't even respond. In the meantime, I accessed the account and tried to create the marketing page myself, but it was super-difficult to use, especially because it is the SLOWEST SITE IN THE WORLD. Every single step you take, every time you want to enter something or go to a new page, takes something like a half minute or longer to process!!!! Unbelievable. So I figured I'd just drop it--I don't have time to fight with lame businesses. So I resigned myself to having wasted my $34.50--I could live with that. But a week or two later I was informed that I was being charged another $34.50 for my second month!!! So I immediately called and told them I had never signed up for a second month and wanted the charge deleted. They acted like they would. But then today I was notified that, due to their policies and procedures, I would be charged for the second month after all. So I called again and was told point-blank that there was nothing I could do about it. So, let's see...I spent $69 and received absolutely nothing of value. I also wasted probably 10 hours over the course of several days, trying to create my own marketing page on their site, but it was so slow and complicated, I was unable to accomplish anything. And I lost the account I was trying to get, due to their inability to do what they told me they'd do. And now on top of that I have to spend time on the phone arguing with them, trying to get my money back, which isn't going to happen. I'm just sorry that the lowest rating is 1 star. Too bad I can't rate them a minus 5 stars. Support team is normally okay, but the billing department employees all have an attitude. They are rude, don't return phone calls, and generally don't care about their customers. I've been with them for over 4 years and every year, I have to fight them for something. If an employee tells me something, and then I call back - I can never get the same employee a second time. They're constantly raising their rates but not providing any better service. I unsubscribed over 2000 people to get the bill down to a rate I can afford and I'm still fighting with them to charge me the correct amount. read more

It had an RSVP option and we sent it out be the RSVP glitched and doesn't work- what's the point. We ran an email before and it worked. WARNING TO ALL INSURANCE AGENTS AND BROKERS! I spent A LOT of time working with one of the Constant Contact Representatives clearly sharing with him EXACTLY how I wanted to use Constant Contact. I explained that my area of the insurance industry, Medicare Supplement, and Medicare Advantage health insurance plans are very regulated. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires that potential clients proactively give permission to be contacted by phone call and text messages. The CMS DOES NOT REQUIRE potential clients to give permission to be contacted by regular mail, or by email. I purchase my leads from a third-party lead provider that gets permission from the potential clients to be contacted by phone, by text, and by email. They do this through their own compliant websites and then they sell those leads to agents like myself. I know when I am contacting a potential client that they have requested contact with a licensed agent! This is fully compliant with the already very strict CMS government requirements! After sharing my workflow process with the Constant Contact Customer Representative, and spending hours and days literally connecting all of the dots of my marketing campaign, I thought everything was good and I was ready to begin. So, today 10/20/2022, I try to access my account and it has BEEN SHUT DOWN by the Account Review Team! I called and spoke to an "Account Review Specialist" regarding why was I locked out of my account. I was told by the "Account Review Specialist" that Constant Contact DOES NOT ALLOW leads from third-party marketing companies, EVEN IF THE POTENTIAL CLIENT HAS GIVEN THEIR PERMISSION to be contacted by the agent by phone, email, or text! This is more strict than the CMS and government regulations! And, this does not just apply to Medicare Health Plans, it applies to ALL AREAS of insurance like Group Health, Workers Comp, Life Insurance, literally everything! This was SO BAD and so misleading I can hardly believe this just happened! The initial Constant Contact Representative should have shared this with me up-front! Not after I have literally spent weeks getting my entire marketing campaign together. If I had known this information I would have NEVER spent the time and the money to go any further with Constant Contact! If I could give Constant Contact a negative score (- 5 Stars) I would do it. Terrible customer service. Support phone line plays several minutes of annoying and wrong advice, followed by long wait times and then hang-ups before talking to anyone. There is also the r20.rs6.net problem. Constant Contact changes every link in every email to go through r20.rs6.net. Many people cannot reach anything that goes through that address, including me. Constant Contact has known about this problem for years and refuses to fix it. Also, a couple of years ago they changed to an editor interface that cannot do even simple tasks, like indent a paragraph. read more

I signed up for a trial account to test some of their API endpoints out of curiousity. The very next day I get a cold call from an unknown number (spoofed area code). It turns out to be someone from Constant Contact, Micah Lasovsky one of their "Marketing Coaches" i.e. a salesperson pressuring me to answer detailed questions about my business. I politely explained that I was at work, did not have any questions and was not interested in fielding sales calls. He then threatens to cancel my trial account because I politely declined to schedule a call. EXTREMELY RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL. I' ve used the Python SDK which I found to be relatively simple & user friendly which is the only reason I'm rating 2/5 instead of 1/5. But this guy's BAD ATTITUTDE really turned me off. At the end of my trial I'll probably be cancelling and jumping ship to MailChimp for my email marketing needs just over the sheer rudeness this guy exhibited. read more

You get multiple 'marketing' people, or better known as, sales people pressuring you to answer detailed questions about your business, other email companies you're looking into, etc... I have said numerous times that I'm playing around with the product and I'll reach out when I have questions, but they never stopped calling! I don't care if your product is better, harassing people does not get you anywhere. They lost three sales today: one for the agency, one personally for myself, and one for another agent. Hi...Used Constant Contact to email-market a Kickstarter campaign. One of the problems we had was with the Constant Contact LOGO and AD at the bottom of the template we composed. In editing, we did NOT know that this "ad" for them would go out as part of our email. We were a paid ($95/month) customer. After we populated CC with our email list.....and sent out our Kickstarter notice....we had a number of friends and associates actually call and ask: Is this email from you, or have you been hacked? The generation of that question came from those few seeing the Constant Contact LOGO. Of course, this generated MANY unsubscribes from people that did NOT TRUST the source of the email...assuming it was spam. Well, Constant Contact contacted us and....because of the number of unsubscribes (119 out of 4104 address), they canceled our account. When I pointed out the reason for the unopened and unsubscribes as being cause by the logo, the representative said, "Oh, only we (Constant Contact) can take the logo off....and you needed to call us." Wow! So, paying the $95 for a month of service, we got to do an email blast with their advertising and logo at the bottom - because we did not know we had to call them - and they got our mail list and the $95 to do one blast. NO refund, even though their logo and advertising on our email message cause recipient confusion - and suspicion and unsubscribes. So...this is an alert to you folks that might be thinking about using Constant Contact. There are some burps....They were early to the market (and with a good, catchy name)....but their TV and digital advertising is untruthful compared to their product and performance. Honestly I am bit surprised to what I have experienced because I have worked with marketing teams before and have used multiple email marketing options like Hubspot, Campaign Monitor and Mailchimp but by far Constant Contact is the worst. I signed up 2 weeks back, uploaded my email list and started creating my templates. Having an experience with emails, I called them to check the setup and asked them if everything looks okay as I didn't wanted issues during the campaign. They said everything is fine, and I can go ahead and start scheduling. They call and message you a lot which can be irritating. But worst is their customer representatives who are rude and unhelpful. They basically blocked my account for the 3rd time on the basis of the source of the emails (which btw I got it checked before I started designing the templates), I kept asking them what are my options but the women won't talk or explain. She was so rude, I kind of felt why am I paying them for this. I understand there are issues with emails sometimes, but the least they can do is be nice to the customers and explain them in a friendly tone (instead of yelling). My experience with Hubspot, Campaign Monitor and Mailchimp was way better!! read more

No wonder they only have ONE star. But, they obviously don't care. I used them once for an 18,000 contact newsletter list in March. Since then they have charged me $225.00 a month, even after deleting all the contacts and NOT using the system again. So for 1 contact and no use, they charge $225.00. When I finally caught it all they said, we are, and I quote, "a NON-REFUND Company"!!! That's a new one in the NO customer service world due to COVID. A brutally dishonest firm for both businesses and the end customers receiving the emails. Once they have your contact information they infest like bed bugs and are extremely hard to disassociate with. I just got off the phone with their team with an issue, and was transferred in a loop between sales and service 5 times before someone said they would address it. My confidence is not high it will actually get fixed. If you are looking to alienate customers by using a firm that has sold their information to 20 other business that are all spamming peoples inboxes, then Constant Contact is a great fit for you. read more

There is no reason to pay for this service when you can use Mail Chimp and other services that are just as good for free. When you try to cancel the service, you cannot automatically do it online, like you can everything else, you have to call in. Ge prepared to be kept on hold for over 20 minutes. I don't usually leave bad reviews for a business but i am very disappointed in constant contact. I purchased the $45 basic monthly package for 500-2000 contacts. Unfortunately i was unable to use the service as their website is having issues with NY and NJ residents due to a verizon outage. I was not able to use the website because of this and was very inconvenient so i requested to cancel the service. They try to pressure you in trying to use other ways around the issue. How am i suppose to design a beautiful email with html and C++ through a cell phone? That is so inconvenient and defeats the purpose of why i wanted to use the service. Long story short. They are quick to get you to sign up and take your payment but the minute you call to get in contact with the billing team to cancel. It has been an absolute nightmare dealing with this company. I contacted them in September 2020 after ACH paid Constant Contact over $100. I contacted Constant Contact to tell them I had cancelled with them and to stop billing me. They said they were not billing me with no record of billing me. Back and forth between ACH and them. I gave up, now I get billed yet again even though I told them I cancelled my account. I am going to report this company to the Attorney General. If I could give a minus rating I would. They require a call to cancel- left me on hold several times, transferred to several different people, I asked each to cancel, each attempted to talk me out of it. I'm lucky I never gave this company my credit card number. They call me CONSTANTLY, I guess they were going for irony. Here they are, a business who exists only due to the belief that email marketing works, using telemarketing. I don't think I have palm faced so hard since 2008. They also seem to be using spoof numbers as they are based out of CA, but seem to call me from numbers with my same area code in the hopes I will pickup. The good: the customer support for paid accounts is really good in terms of response & answering questions. When it comes to problems or issues though they're kind of useless - you spend a lot of time waiting for them to check with someone to get an answer and when they can't they resort to the canned response "we'll notify the development team" which is a black hole. You can integrate with checkout carts so existing customer daya is always fresh. The bad and it's bad: This is a company that was originally on the forefront of email marketing, but now it looks like it hasn't done any updating in terms of functionally in decades. It is a hot mess. You can't tag accounts if you have a large list (we tag/sent by business type) & you can only create segments based on purchase behavior - you can't create sub-segments under a master list either. In fact, the ONLY way to segment your list, if you don't use purchase behavior, is to create tons of individual mini lists. Not an issue if you have a small account - but with over 10000 contacts you're screwed & can't use a "send all" option like pretty much ALL of their competitors. This has been an issue for them for years but "development" hasn't touched it & apparently won't. And don't even get me started on any type of suppression ability - even their FAQs don't have a response for that one. This is a VERY antiquated platform. Other smaller, newer email marketing players (like MailChimp) handle this with elegance. Advice: if you're a large company with many levels of segmentation (type of business, customer vs prospect, location) then run away very fast. read more

I told him you all promise the world, and then when you get the money, you don't deliver. On and on this guy went. I finally cut him off and told him I didn't want to hear his sales pitch. BEWARE OF FRAUD with this company, Constant Contact. They fraudulently charged my credit card. I have no idea how they got my credit card number, but a charge showed up in the amount of $21.78 at 3:19 a.m. on the morning of 11/4/18. I have since canceled my credit card and reported the fraud to my credit card company. I also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. In the meantime, if you Google this company you will see that there are many other people who have been scammed. I also sent an e-mail to the Constant Contact PR department and notified them that I filed a complaint the with Federal Trade Commission. After four years I have given up on Constant Contact. The email service works, but the use interface is very old-fashioned and unintuitive. Because it is so difficult to navigate, I've had to call customer support for questions as simple as how to print a report. The support people are friendly and helpful, but the software user interface requires too many reasons to need the support. I've stayed with Constant Contact because I've been able to do my email campaigns, but, after recently trying competitive services, such as Benchmark and iContact, I am definitely changing. Four years is too long to stay with an email service having an inferior user interface and no improvements during that time. read more
