Ordered the coconut braised pig ear banh mi since I never seen that on any menu before. Enjoyed the flavors. Ordered the combo with the $3 Vietnamese coffee. Also got just a bread and shrimp spring rolls. Because the banh mi is big, it seems the filling isn't as substantial but the flavors were there. The shrimp roll was ok. Need to come back and try the pork. There is no beef that other places have. Mostly takeout but there are three small tables that sit two people each.

My partner and I are huge bánh mì enthusiasts, so after seeing all the great reviews, we decided to…read moremake the trip to San Francisco for a lunch date and give this place a try. Ordering was easy, with multiple self-service kiosks available, or you can order at the register. We went with the cold cut bánh mì combo, which includes your choice of sandwich and a drink for just $10--a great value. They also offer a small discount if you pay with cash by avoiding the card surcharge, which was a nice bonus. Our food came out quickly, taking only about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, this is where the experience fell short for us. While the bread was soft and fluffy with a nice texture, the sandwich itself felt underwhelming. It wasn't as generously filled as a traditional bánh mì, lacking the layers of cold cuts, pâté, mayonnaise, and pickled vegetables that give the sandwich its signature balance of flavors and textures. The seasoning also leaned heavily on black pepper, which overpowered the other ingredients. Overall, the sandwich tasted one-dimensional and was missing the bright, fresh, and savory combination that we typically look for in a great bánh mì. Overall, we were disappointed given the strong reputation and positive reviews. While the combo offers excellent value, the sandwich didn't meet our expectations, and we likely won't be returning. We'd rather pay a little more for a bánh mì that offers better flavor, freshness, and a more satisfying filling.
