Also, I found out that they were having trouble with their lines. A few days back, they corrected and replaced bad lines. I think I could recommend them, now. This company provides the weakest most pathetic service for Rainier, Yelm & McKenna. High speed my eye! AOL dial up was faster than this garbage service. The majority of these complaints are based on slowness. I can't speak for other parts of the country but Yelm, McKenna, Roy area I can. The further out in the boonies you are, the more it impacts what's available. so if you're purchasing/renting a house and internet is important (gamers, multiple streaming etc) do your research first as it may not be an area you want to reside. I've been a happy customer for the last 2 years and I do work from home. Every encounter I've had (including trouble calls and support) have always been professional and great customer service. Rule of thumb.... each device connected can take up to 5m, if you have 10m service and have several devices connected this will cause slowness. this also depends on what you're looking up to (YouTube takes up quite a bit) disconnect devices and that will help. The upload speeds, yes they're low but that's one of the many "perks" of living in the country. read more

Everyday I have something wrong with my internet and have to reset the router. Our cable freezes non stop especially if the cable is on and one person is on the internet! When you call and ask how to fix something or to have someone come out to look at it, they treat you as if you are stupid!! My husband has missed several games on TV because of the cable freezing and going out!! I cant wait to leave fairpoint!!!!! Our cable likes to freeze and go out when the skies are clear! Good god, they have got to have easily the worst internet I have ever had. I am kicked randomly at different parts of the day, regardless of weather conditions, the top speed they offer is about 10 Mbps, and the only reason, THE ONLY REASON, they are even a thing where I live is because they have a choke hold on my area. I know that if any other service provider came out to my area, people would be willing to pay triple what that service provider would normally charge just to have decent internet, or at least one that's more reliable. Consolidated communications should sell their business to someone who actually knows what they are doing. read more

We've had Consolidated Communications (formerly Fairpoint) since Jan 2013 and, with some effort and sometimes multiple calls, the few times we've had issues they have been resolved relatively quickly. I telework from home online and don't have problems getting and staying connected most of the time. It did help when they recently replaced our modem/router. read more

The worst customer service. I don't think they care about you after they get your business. If you call them you wait on hold for 15 or 20 minutes and hopefully they don't just hang up on you. I took a 1 year agreement $99.00 to leave early, well worth it. Got another "harassing phone call", as a matter of fact I've received so many that my phone block is full. This company supplies nothing to discourage this other than ask me if I want to add service and pay. So they have the solution but even after numerous complaints you won't resolve unless your paid more money. Your ethics and flat out humanity are a shock. Everything about this company should be shut down from a logic standpoint. The volume of robo calls has tripled since this company took over. If you thought Comcast was bad this company somehow has them beat for horrible service. We just moved to Yelm and this company was scheduled to set up our internet between 12-4 on a Monday. We called to confirm they were scheduled to be at our house during those times when it was 2pm and again at 4:05pm. They had said a mistake had occured but they will credit our account and reschedule us for 12-4 timeslot the following Tuesday. I got home from work to be here for the install and they already told us that the "prework" had not been completed so they need to reschedule our install this next Monday. This company is a waste of your time and money. Completely unprofessional and is willing to lie to your face. Take your money elsewhere if you can , buyer beware. read more

Absolutely atrocious service, they are the only option for service where I live and that sucks more than Monica Lewinski. Only use if no other options and be prepared to take a cigar and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. My WiFi went out but CC cannot help me because even though I have internet it does not specify WiFi on the account. Fairpoint set up the router and put in the WiFi address years ago however CC will not give me support because of this. Has anyone heard of having internet without WiFi??? I can still connect with ethernet so the router works and so does my pc's. It's time to find a new provider! read more

I have had Fairpoint for years and was happy with the company. Now that they have been taken over by Consolidated Communications I am NOT happy at all! The customer service doesn't even get one star! I had to wait 40 minutes to speak with someone & when I finally did get to speak to a customer service person she was RUDE! I told her how long I had waited (40 minutes) and she muttered something. I asked her why my phone bill was suddenly $50.00 plus dollars instead of the usual $30.00 plus that I am under contract for..she said I had charges..I said I realized that..but my bill didn't explain anywhere what the extra charges were..and she coldly told me that I no longer had Life Line(a program that helps out with the monthly phone bill). I asked WHY I no longer had Life Line & WHY I wasn't notified of this? She told me that it was because I gave my Life Line amount of money to a Government program that I had just enrolled in! Yes, I did enroll in the Government program for a free (NOTHING IS FREE)cell phone..& was NEVER told by THAT program that they would be taking my Life Line benefits away from my Consolidated Communications land line phone to put on the Government cell phone! The Government cell phone program is soooo not worth it..but that is another story for THEIR review site. Unable to use the cell phone..keys way too small..instructions WRONG..I told them I wanted to return the cell phone & close my acct. with the Government program. NOW...I have had to start my Life Line plan all over again with Consolidated Communications & keep losing that money credit each month that helped me so much..until this mess is hopefully worked out soon. So..customer service at CC is horrible..while Fairpoint was great. Wait time is ridiculous to speak to someone..and if I find out that I am going to be charged an extra $3.00 a month to be on automatic payments..I will most DEFINITELY STOP IT! Lastly..they don't have a TOLL FREE customer service number to call to talk about your bill, etc; ! Fairpoint DID. I don't have to..& won't stay on with CC if things don't straighten out SOON. Can I do zero stars? Wow. Horrible internet service and even worse customer service. Restarting the router has become a daily routine (sometimes hourly) and don't even think about streaming a movie. First tried the email for support, LOL - don't bother. Called to get an updated router as mine is the original one that I have had for over 7 years. Was told I could get one but a week later still no modem. Called back and was told no I couldn't unless I paid for it. They told me they could see nothing wrong on their end. Well I am happy for you because on this end it sucks. I actually created a yelp account just because of this company. Go some where else for internet. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! But Unfortunately only service where I live too many trees for satellite. Just got charged 65 dollars for paying my bill 1 day late because they say they have an auto payment even says you get charged 3 dollars for using it but they really don't have it and it was 5 so they were closed. There for couldn't make payment so they charged me 65 dollars for paying it late. Don't offer an auto pay if you don't have that service and charge me for your lie. read more

Expensive DSL service which is intermittent and speeds are not what is advertised. Rude/non-existent customer service. Landline and internet service goes out several times a year due to poorly maintained copper. Will also threaten to disconnect you at the drop of a hat if you're 2 days late on paying the bill and then charge you a $6.00 fee for doing so. read more

If only I could give them 0 stars... By far the worse ISP I have ever had the misfortune of using. But it's not like we have a choice, they have a monopoly in our area. Dear Xfinity, extend your service another 7 miles to our area and you'd make a small fortune! We have had Fairpoint for six months and the service has only worsened with slower than promised speeds ranging from 1.5 Mbps to 5 Mbps, that's like dial-up speeds. Don't even get me started with their customer service, which seems to have absolutely no computer or people skills -- they are short, rude, and come across as complete idiots. They are also located back east, which does someone living in Washington state no good. Fairpoint charges WAY too much for WAY too little, but since they have us by the short hairs that doesn't really matter much to them. Note to Fairpoint: When you read these reviews and notice that not a single one gives you more than one star -- certainly not by your customer's choice -- doesn't it behoove you to at least make an attempt to correct issues? I would give them -5 stars if I could. I tried to activate service in our seasonal home in machiasport Maine and was told it would take one day in initiate. I called on Wednesday, Thursday no service. Called customer service at 4pm (posted hours 7am - 7p) and they were already gone. Friday, 18 calls later, I again called their "Emergengy" service and was told it would take 6 days to restore the service because it was the weekend and July 4th was Wednesday. There is no cell phone coverage here so we need the the land phone for emergencies. So it takes 8 days to do one days work for these lazy vvvvvs of svvv. Customer service was sub-par and their tech support treated myself and wife like idiots when we called to get assistance. They lied and told me I would have the price I was quoted for the entire time I stayed with them, About 6 months later my bill started getting higher and higher every 6 month until I was at the current rate for new customers which was way higher than mine. I was suppose to be grandfathered in at my price and they would not keep their word. There was nothing I could do since they have the monopoly on the internet service in my area. I am moving about 20 miles west of my location now and found out that they are the internet provider for that area also. I was so looking forward to getting rid of them. Internet is the worst I have ever had, constantly losing connection. We are stranded in an area where the only option for internet is FairPoint. We pay nearly 100 bucks a month for the slowest, most unreliable internet that is barely a step above dial up. It is a complete and total rip off. If I could give Fairpoint a MINUS 5 I would! If Fairpoint can think of another way to screw their customers they do it. They have a monopoly on phone/internet here so nothing we can do. And they'll rip you off any chance they can. Their customer service people are very nice but they aren't the ones at corporate who will fleece you any way they can. Fairpoint can provide sucky service but if you are at all late on your bill, they make an Auto-Dialer call to remind you to pay the bill AND THEN THEY CHARGE YOU $6 FOR THE CALL!! They also send out a disconnect notice via the mail - hello $6 charge! God forbid that they pretend to disconnect your service because they will charge you $42 to turn it on (even tho the phone wasn't disconnected, just the internet, they charge you as if a guy had to climb a telephone pole somewhere to turn both things back on (but all they do is log into a computer and re-enable the internet). And if your modem gets so old it no longer works guess what? THEY MAKE YOU PAY TO GET ONE THAT WORKS. Highway robbermen is what they are. And don't EVER EVER EVER get their TV service as part of a bundle. Took me a YEAR to get rid of it and the multitude of fees even tho it was their end that didn't work, not mine.
