First two times there was a sign out front "be back in 5 minutes" and 30 minutes later no return. Sad part there was another person who was a friend of the owner waiting as well and we were a party of 3. Gave it another shot and came by on Sunday, store supposed to open at 12 ~ closed, went to eat, came back by at 12:30, closed still. I stopped in here and found so many good finds for both of them and price range was decent for both a "nicer" gift and some stocking stuffer type gifts. From candles, candy, socks, self-care goodies, mini treasures, jewelry, clothes... there's definitely something for everyone. The employee also wrapped up my gifts in individual bags (which I bought there, so cute) for me and added tissue paper, tied a little bow to them as well which took a load off my shoulder as I rushed home that day.

I stumbled upon this store during The All About Downtown…read moreStreet Fair in Jersey City. This store is super cute but it is pretty pricey. I spent $60 on a Nicole Concho Link Belt and $138.60 on a Hidden Jeans Devon Classic Denim Trench Coat - Dark Wash. I did end up doing a price comparison to see if these items were available elsewhere to determine if they were overpriced. I did find the same exact belt on two different online stores and they were both priced at $60. As for the Denim Trench Coat the price was originally $154 but it was 10% off for the coat which made the coat $138.60. I found the same exact coat on Nordstrom for $135 so the price is comparable after the discount but without discount it would have been $154. Overall the service was good. The woman cashier who was working that day was super friendly and allowed me to try on things I wanted to purchase. They do have two fitting rooms available for easy try ons. The store is on the smaller size so it can get cramped if there's a lot of people in the store. Overall, if you are in the downtown area of Jersey City, I would say this shop is worth checking out. But be advised you will need your $$$.

Before we got started, I had some normal nerves and worries about the process and in one session with Kerry, they were all gone. I felt like she knew exactly what I wanted, even if I didn't even know how to verbalize it. She listened, was accommodating, sensitive to our needs, and found beautiful pieces to show us at our appts. I was involved in the initial stages of planning however my (now ) fiancé and Kerry finalized the design together so the final result was still a surprise to me. I truly couldn't have picked something better if I had picked it myself. I spend an embarrassing amount of time staring at it because I love it so much. I'm forever grateful for Kerry and my/our experience at Love Locked, having her involved in this milestone of our lives is something that we will never forget. The greyish brunette woman, older in age, that I gave my donations to opened up the bins outside, dug through and picked out the worst items, including a clean pair of underwear to hold and shame up in my face in public like a dog and scolded me (my mistake, I missed some small items during sorting, but I don't think harassment is acceptable). The entire experience was humiliating and meant to humiliate. She rolled her eyes at valuables like designer shoes and large brass candelabras inside the bins. I had some heavier bins. Neighbors unrelated to this organization off the street helped me while this woman said "we don't do that here" (I grew up Christian, and these are not Christian values). She looked up and down at me and asked if I "even had children's clothes" and I said "I didn't think so." Whatever baby stuff was in there was high quality and unused. She locked eyes with me for a while scowling. She rolled her eyes later at the designer diaper bag with tag still affixed. I left crying. There are many other more reputable places in the area that are kind, more down to earth and cater towards middle-class clientele. I like the ones near Central Ave and the homeless shelter definitely needs goods. I recommend not going here and supporting this business. If you choose so, you put donations by their side door.

It feels as though the people working there just aren't as knowledgeable about fashion or aren't as in tune with peoples needs when they come in and say what they're looking for. I think the most disappointing thing is that I no longer can plan on finding something when I visit. I have visited about four times in a row looking for items for trips or parties or every day wear and haven't found anything that tickles my fancy. There seems to be a lot of T-shirts nowadays and things that aren't as inspiring for me. This used to be a go to no matter what occasion and it hasn't been like that for me for about a year now.

Each area of the shop is well curated and items are displayed with thought and care (I thought the basement was organized well IMO). I spent about an hour and a half at Valley Vintage to hit all of the areas, and some time was devoted to flipping through their records. This was well organized and some good finds. I ended up buying a copy of the original soundtrack from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. on vinyl for around $13. It was in good condition and plays. If you like nostalgia and vintage shopping, visit this spot. You may find something one-of-a-kind that appeals to you.
