Highly recommend visiting Kualoa Ranch and doing this popular tour! The land is ginormous and offer sooo many different tours. I'll def come back and book one of the tour activities for horseback riding and zip-lining. The UTV tour is two hours long and you can either self-drive the UTV or book one with the tour guide. Each UTV has enough room for up to 6 people I believe. We paid $162.79 per person. They make you arrive 45 min beforehand but we showed up 25 mins beforehand and it was fine. You check in with the folks behind the counter and then they'll lead you to the area with the numbered table benches. They still made us wait for the group before us to leave before we even could line up by those tables. Once you check in, they give you a neck scarf (which you can keep) and try on helmets and goggles. You can bring your own goggles or wear sunglasses too. They make you sign waivers and also check your IDs if you're driving. Each time slot has up to 10 groups and you drive in a line, stopping at about 3-4 stops. Our tour guides were awesome and very knowledgeable in telling us facts about the different film stops. I'm a big movie/ TV show fan so it was really cool seeing some of these places in person! They had infamous sets from Jurassic World, Jumanji, King Kong, etc. They gave us plenty of time to check out some of the stops and take pictures. They're also really nice and offered to take multiple pics for us, including one with a big dinosaur in the background (they carry a dinosaur toy for these pics lol). Make sure you book in advance because they fill up the time slots quick! You will get dirty from the UTV drive so I recommend wearing something that you don't mind getting messy. Also bring a mask or wear their neck scarf so you don't breathe in the dust. At the beginning of the tour, they take your picture and then sell printed copy as a souvenir at the end for $20. They have a food court, gift shop, and bathrooms inside. There's also plenty of parking which is a plus!

It was hectic given we had to board right away but she was so helpful and kind when I was feeling under pressure. I really wish I can give more than 5 stars just for her service itself. As for the rest of the trip, everything was SMOOTH sailing. Casey, Jared and Mahiki were WONDERFUL as well. I highly recommend this to everyone wanting a great experience. To note, we had 4 kids with us too!

We booked this Kaneohe Sandbar snorkeling tour after seeing many reviews describe it as…read morebeginner-friendly. As first-time snorkelers traveling with a child, our experience did not align with those expectations. Equipment distribution was poorly handled. Masks were handed out with little to no instruction, and basic questions were met with a rude and dismissive attitude. Overall communication and service were lacking. Once in the water, guidance was minimal and inconsistent. The experience felt rushed and disorganized, with limited support for guests who were new to snorkeling. The tone and treatment we received also made us uncomfortable as Asian guests. After sharing feedback, the company clarified in writing that they do NOT advertise or position this as a beginner-friendly snorkeling tour. Based on both that clarification and our experience, I would strongly recommend that beginners or families looking for clear instruction and attentive guidance consider other operators. Sharing this to help future guests set accurate expectations before booking.

So I took my grandsons, 8 yrs and 5 yrs. When we got there, I realized they accepted CASH ONLY. Went to Kualoa Ranch (1 mile away) to use their ATM. Got back in time for the tour. Needless to say, I thought I would get attitude from my 8 yr old. He's a gamer and would rather be on his DS or iPad. But he LOVED it. Even I was a bit skeptical but from the time we boarded the bus, the comedy began. Surprisingly, half our group was local. The other half, visitors from Wisconsin and Arizona. We all had a great time. Great tour of the farm and the various trees and plants. Didn't know it was a film location for so many movies. And the fire dance was up close. Lessons on making fire and husking a coconut were so interesting. Got to taste fresh coconut. All the while, the jokes kept coming, non-stop. It was time well spent. Highly recommend this tour for locals and visitors. But don't forget to bring cash. $20 Adults, ($15 kamaaina) and $10 for kids. Note, they used to have an ATM there but it was stolen. Auwe!

Dole Plantation - Chocolate dipped Dole Whip

Dole Plantation

(3.8k reviews)

Be a pineapple: Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside…read more Visiting Dole Plantation was honestly a strange mix of fun, beauty, history, and a little bit of emotional whiplash. Which, to be fair, is probably the most historically accurate way to experience a place with the word "plantation" in the name. On one hand, it's genuinely beautiful. The grounds are lush, the air smells incredible, and the pineapple everything is incredibly delicious. The Dole Whip absolutely lived up to the hype, and the gardens, train ride, and giant maze had this cheerful old Hawai'i roadside attraction energy that felt charming instead of overly polished. It was wholesome. I even saw a few adorable cats being fed by the workers. There is also this underlying awareness the entire time where your brain quietly goes, "...wait." Why? Because plantations are not cute historically. The word itself carries a lot of weight tied to colonization, labor exploitation, and the reshaping of Hawai'i for corporate agriculture and tourism. So walking through a place that's simultaneously serving pineapple soft serve while existing within that history creates a peculiar emotional duality that's hard to ignore. Honestly, I appreciated that feeling. Not because the history is good, because it absolutely isn't, but because places should make us think a little. Hawai'i is stunning but it's also layered and complicated and visiting somewhere like this becomes more meaningful when you acknowledge both the beauty and the discomfort instead of pretending one cancels out the other. The experience ended up feeling less like, "Yay pineapples!" and more like a reminder that travel is best when you let yourself enjoy the present while still respecting the history underneath it. Note: I totally destroyed a Dole Whip because personal growth, historical awareness, and pineapple soft serve with fresh pineapple can intertwine, okay?

Good alternative if you have time and it happens to be on your way when visiting North Shore area…read more Wouldn't say it's a must visit, but quite a fun stop to make just for the experience of seeing a pineapple plantation and enjoying their soft serve and juice without having to visit Disneyland #IYKYK. They do provide some activities like the pineapple maze, or touring over the plantation with their train. There's also a gift shop on the spot and I kinda enjoy the pineapple glazed cashew nuts!
