The buffet selections are extensive that you can construct a satisfying 4-course traditional French meal. Plenty of good classics here, but a special nod to the stunning, complex sweetness of the onion soup. It's not often you see a buffet of this quality in Oslo. I cannot think of a better value for a big french gourmand.

The white-washed brick walls really give it the French dining feel. We had the fish of the day (halibut), french onion soup, and duck. All was nicely done! The duck especially had a nice caramelized finish to it. Only awkward part (probably our fault) was that we couldn't finish our main course and asked for a box to take the extra with us. Then they didn't serve us our dessert until we asked for it a second time because they thought we were too full (I suppose Norwegians normally order the right amount of food, and maybe it is not normal to save leftovers). We paired dinner with a nice bottle of Barberra as recommended by our waiter. Definitely a nice spot for a special meal.

Okay, listen. Majorstuen is a great part of Oslo, and Bogstadveien is a snazzy little strip, but…read morewhere does Jacob Aall fit in here? Short answer: It doesn't. The place itself is shabby and not very inviting. The service is not this place's best quality either. And the food? Mediocre at best with appalling prices. I had the bacon cheeseburger, but the burger was raw on the inside (I did not ask for rare), and my friend's nachos were somewhat stale and not well-seasoned. The only thing good about my dish were the fries. But that's about it. Won't be coming back because the food just didn't justify the price.

It was fun to go through the meats, cheese selections and spices. We finally sat down to eat at the cafe. The woodfire oven looked very nice hut the seating area was not cozy or comfortable. In fact it was cramped and people waiting in line to order were hovering around people who were sitting and eating. The pizza was delicious. Thin crust and just the right juicy, if you know what I mean. The vegetarian focaccia look very good but it wasn't good to eat. The bread wasn't tasty and the cheese tomato combo was just not right. The Vanilla Cronut was a lot like the original NY Cronut and I liked it a lot. Will definitely have the pizza and Cronut if I come back. The desserts looked good as did the breads. Maybe I'll try the olive bread next time. The thing about this particular neighborhood of Skøyen is that it's too cold and deserted even on a Saturday afternoon. The bartenders tend to be a bit snobbish, won't smile to you and will just give you what you need as fast as possible. Well not the first or last time for me. Apart from that I like Vulkan bar as the crowd tends to be nice there. My style which means people in their late 20s early 30s. The drinks are quite expensive and I wouldn't say it's a place to go dancing. No dance floor and the music is not so danceable but I still like this bar. There are two floors and both have bars. Downstairs you can find big couch areas which can fit like 12 people and tables for 4-6 people. Very convenient for groups. Upstairs there is not so much seating area but there are some tables as well. I have heard about the terrace as well but I have not visited it. I would definitely go back and most times I have been here it's full, so it's not only me that likes it.
