BUYER BEWARE Tom Marks was all in at first and very communicative when we wanted to buy a boat. He asked for a $500 deposit to be sent to him through Wal Mart. After he received the deposit he was unavailable for the next 6 ways. Would not reply to calls, emails, or texts. We also left message after message at the business and they offered no explanation for his behavior. He suggested we do the transaction off the books to avoid paying taxes. He said he would ship the boat to us ("I ship all over! It's not a problem." and later he reneged on that promise and offered no reduction in price. For us to ship added another $2000 to the price. When we showed up to pick up the boat he kept us waiting 3 hours while he laughed and joked with locals while repeatedly telling us how busy he was. We had agreed to exchange the money at the credit union but now he was "too busy" to go to the credit union. He would walk by and ask "Do you have the money?!" knowing that that was not the agreement. We left and after reading these other reviews I'm realizing we dodged a bullet by not doing business with him. read more

If I could give this operation a 0 I would, but the system doesn't have one. Tom Marks assured us his mechanic had gone through the boat top to bottom and everything was in top operating condition. If this was a Pinnochio rating his nose would be 6 feet long. We have had the boat out one time since we bought it and it made it all of about two hundred yards before it overheated so bad we had to swim tow it back to the dock. Upon inspection, at Bayou Powersports in Bossier City, La.(We live in Louisiana) it was determined the following were all part of the overheating problem. The head gasket was dried out and in pieces, the water pump was shot, the impeller in the water pump was in pieces, and the thermostat was corroded and worthless. Needless to say, all of these have had to be replaced and in addition to the issues caused by bad parts, the head had to be repaired. So far we are into the repairs for a little over $1,000 and the boat has seen the water once. Don't walk away from these shysters, run as fast as you can and don't let them have a single cent of your money. Tom Marks is a SNAKE. If I could give zero stars, I most definitely would. From the beginning, we were lied to. We left the deposit three weeks before they finally said that the boat was ready for pickup - it was supposed to have been ready three days later (granted, it poured rain for three or four days). We had to get a Game Warden that pulled us over for expired tags involved to finally get our titles and registration completed. They have 45 days to complete the paperwork and put everything in your name - it took them over 60 days. DO NOT LET THEM RESTORE ANY GEL-COAT! THEY WILL RUIN IT! I just paid $1,500 to have the outside of my boat fixed after they gouged it and destroyed it with too heavy of a sandpaper. WHETHER SELLING OR BUYING, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. The previous owner of our boat sent me pictures of the boat just days before he took it to CBC and they DESTROYED IT! They have NO protection from sun damage and most interiors are rotting out because they are not giving the boats adequate protection. Lie: The owner of the boat passed away and his wife is selling it Fact: The owner was very much alive and pissed that Conroe Boating Center (CBC) went over 60 days without telling them that his boat has sold. When he found out, he called CBC and they told him that they had $2,500 for him when his contract stated no less than $12,500. Lie: The boat is on the water right now doing 70 MPH Fact: The boat is not capable of doing 70 MPH and the speedometer was broken Lie: I cannot give you the title because the bank has it. I will get it in four days Fact: The ALIVE owner had the title Lie: It is illegal to pay cash for the boat and pay for your registration and titling fees on a debit card Fact: The Game Warden that got involved suggested that I do that. Lie: We do not charge a cleaning fee Fact: On the buyer's order, there is a cleaning fee Lie to owner of the boat: we do not have your money - we cannot pay you Fact: When theft charges were discussed - they magically came up with the money read more

Do not buy a boat from this company! They will lie to you. I bought a boat from them last year. They had told me they changed the impeller. I had my own mechanic look at it and it was completely worn down. Then the boat died on the lake. Took it back to the mechanic, they said the alternator and starter installed were both car parts and should have never been installed in a boat engine as big as mine. Then the boat started leaking due to a hole in the drive boot. Finally got that fixed but now the drive is completely destroyed because there wasn't enough oil in it. These guys are dishonest and will deceive. read more

Tom told me the trailer was in mint condition. I drove an hour to go see the trailer and it was extremely used, and faded. It had not been kept in a garage nor only used five times. I do not tolerate lies nor people who waste my time. I wouldn't buy from him; he is just trying to make a sale and will tell you anything for you to go to his shop. read more

Tom helped out us very much and gave us one of the best deals in Texas. Stayed true to his word and has a lot of inventory! Beware consignment customers! Communication is an issue. In January Tom called and asked me to describe my keys. Apparently he had someone interested in it. I found this strange but later, when I was in his office, I understood. All the keys are lined up hanging on a board with no identification markers on them at all. Since he did not contact me after the call about my keys I assumed the boat did not sell. After our contract expired Tom was hard to pin down. He actually didn't seem to remember he had my boat at all. After he failed to follow up with me about extending the contract I texted him the date I would come pick up my boat. When I arrived my boat was not on the lot and no one had a clue about it or even remembered it. I called him while still standing on his property and he did answer. He had sold my boat but couldn't really remember when. When pressed he decided it had been within a day or two and he simply hadn't had time to call me. He saw no reason for my concern that my boat was gone and I had no money. He said the amounts we were dealing with was "Chump Change" but swore on his mother's grave that he would get me the money as soon as it funded. (7 to 10 days) When I pressed him to confirm the amount he recalled a figure $3,500 lower than we agreed upon but acknowledge that if I had my contract he would honor it. When I followed up seven days later he did get the money but would not consider allowing me to arrange a time to pick it up. I had to come RIGH THEN, he had been put out enough! When I arrived Tom was not there. I was paid the amount agreed upon but saw no bill of sale or anything to confirm the date of the sale. Basically, his guy had a fishy answer for every question. His arrogance was condescending and his business ethics questionable. I suspect he sold my boat in January and had not thought to pay me until I showed up in March. Buyer/seller beware. This place is not the place to do business with. The lot is not secure and in his fine print he says he is not responsible for an==ANY== damage. His employee did about $1000 damage to my property and he was true to his word. Told me to file it with my insurance company. He does not believe in contracts. What he tells you today is not what he will tell you later. read more

Bought our used boat from Tom. We had looked from kemah, seabrook, cypress pasadena, rosenberg and on lake Conroe. We stopped in and Tom pointed us to the boat that fit both our needs.
