It had plenty of rides. It had plenty of food stands. A little tip, buy your tickets online because to buy them in person requires standing in a 30-45 minute line. No one wants to do that. We bought ours onsite through our phones. By the time I got to the ticket booth, I could've been in and out of the festival. Inside the convention center is where you'll find the massive strawberry shortcake that's always advertised each year. It tasted regular to me but my grandparents loved the one I brought them. Maybe I just got a bad slice. It's cash only. $5. The ATM charges a 4.95 fee for withdrawal so bring cash ahead of time if you can. The exhibits throughout the convention center were really nice. It was a lot of different options but nothing out of the norm. I won't be going back next year. This was definitely a one-time thing. At least there were hardly any lines for the rides and the parking was free!

He gave us racing tips and encouraged us to enter the weekly Sunday races he holds there, even saying I could race HIS cars. Amazing! I normally do my jog at Rice solo, but with a group of 80 or so runners helping set the pace (different paces: sprinters, joggers, walkers), I was highly motivated to move faster, do less stops and refrain from any detours at the Farmer's Market for some yummy goods. Dave does a wonderful job making the sign in table a breeze. It's FREE, so all you need to do is show up (first timers sign a onetime waiver; repeats have to check in each time) and you're good to go. Make sure you're there on time, because the run starts at 6pm sharp. (You might catch a few late comers sprinting across the parking lot to catch up.) Awaiting you at Brian O'Neill's after the run is a FREE energy filled buffet of pasta and salad, along with water. There's also FREE Red Bull Energy bevs before your run, and Skinny Dip beer. After your 10th run, you get an awesome Brian O'Neill's Social Running Club tee which guarantees you 10% discounts at Fleet Feet! Other yelp reviews have complained about: 1. the food being bland - Hey, it's Polish food. We like white and cream colored foods, what can we say? It's not bland by any stretch of the imagination unless you like your foods very heavily spiced (in which case, that's not really a Polish style). 2. the price for parking - hey you know, you can park across the street in the neighborhoods and walk there if you have an issue with paying for parking. it's not difficult, and it's literally 50 extra feet away. 3. of course they have an entry fee? it's a festival, and it's how the church supports itself enough to host these sorts of events. I can't even really believe anyone would complain about such a thing. Our Lady of Czestochowa is a lovely church and everything that goes on during these festivals is authentically Polish. Any complaints about the music, or the kind of food, are just ridiculous because 100% of it is traditional.

Selena show was pretty good but Negami was wonderful. Took many of us back to the old school days of tejano music. Special performance from two original members of the Latin Breed. If you ever get a chance to see them, do so. They won't disappoint. The band gave out tickets to another event later this month for those that danced during the show. This art center is hoping to bring bigger and better things to the Eastside of Houston. I'm glad to have come to this event and look forward to all their other events. The place is still very much looking like a church on the outside (the sign is just a banner for now), but the space is very large and there are numerous bathrooms, which are both huge pluses! Our event had a bar and food for sale. The sound system was awesome! There were many volunteers to help, but getting in and getting tickets needed a bit of work. Overall we had a great time here & recommend the space for all sorts of events!

Fabulously friendly Farrah was there as hostess, and I had no problem filling up with my favorite carbonated beverage, East Ciders. Only a couple of issues. The BBP has a rooftop and ground floor. I think the roof is 4th floor, and there is an elevator. Care should be taken not to set up a food line that blocks the entry of both the stairway and elevator. Second, the BBP needs to provide a few pub tables for those without three hands. With only one hand to hold my drink, and another to hold my plate, I was glad to find horizontal surfaces in the window sill to hold my Cider.

With Houston hosting matches, I imagined fans from around the world chanting, singing, and creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. The biggest disappointment was the lack of energy. People wore jerseys representing their teams, but there was very little cheering or interaction. Surprisingly, the festival seemed to feature more NASA exhibits than World Cup exhibits. As an engineer, I enjoy anything related to space, but it felt out of place at a FIFA Fan Festival. Note the Houston Hall was the best place to watch the matches because it was indoors with air conditioning. There were long lines throughout the venue--for entry, exhibits, and giveaways. The Bank of America bracelet booth regularly had 30+ minute waits, and I was shocked to later see those free bracelets listed on Facebook Marketplace for over $100. Food and drinks were also expensive ($8 for a Coke and $6 for bottled water), and most food trucks didn't display prices, so you had to wait in line just to ask. Similarly, prices weren't listed on the football jerseys so you had to keep going to the check counter to ask how much; pretty annoying! On the plus side, you can bring an empty clear water bottle (remove the label) and refill it at the free water stations. They also provide complimentary sunscreen, which was a thoughtful touch. I also want to recognize the staff and volunteers, who did a great job keeping things running smoothly. Many were friendly, helpful, and happy to answer questions throughout the day. If you plan to visit, arrive early, especially for popular matches, as capacity is limited. I also recommend parking at the Harrisburg Metro Garage for just $1 after validating a METRORail ticket, then taking the train two stops to the festival. It's much cheaper than parking nearby. I'm glad I went once to experience it, but I wouldn't go back and don't recommend. I'd much rather enjoy the matches at home with air conditioning and an ice-cold beer in my hand. More than anything, I wish the festival had embraced the passion and culture of the World Cup. Instead of feeling like one of the world's biggest sporting events was taking place just minutes away, it felt surprisingly dull.

It's also very family-friendly, but I saw too many babies (like, infants) and toddlers looking miserably hot. Shout out to the volunteers. Can't believe FIFA isn't paying people for their service. They're making record profits. SMH.

At first when i suggested we try it they were both like "I guess" but once we got started we had so much fun. This could definitely be a team building thing and I'm definitely going to suggest it to my boss and our team.
