I took my father-in-law to Best Hearing Center when his analog hearing aid stopped working and another hearing center was closed. I found Dr. Audrey Freeman's office by searching on Yelp. They welcomed us into the office even though we did not have an appointment and worked to repair his very old hearing aid without charge.
When it became clear that the old hearing aid could not be repaired, Dr. Freeman was exceptionally patient and kind with my father-in-law who had not heard well for many years. She cleaned his ears, she was very gentle with him, and took her time to answer all of our questions about digital hearing aides. He had been talking very loudly, and though he worked hard to understand, would often miss words, mistake what we said, and then deny that he couldn't hear. Life had become frustrating at home and our teenaged kids had trouble communicating with their grandfather.
On the day he received his ReSound hearing aid, his voice changed. He talked much softer, he heard new sounds he had not heard in a long time. My stress level was reduced and I stopped worrying about his safety. He could now hear the "click, click" of the ignition when using the gas stove, he no longer left the tap running in the bathroom, he could hear the doorbell, and talk on the phone easily. The staff at Best Hearing Center is top notch. The ReSound Hearing aid, while certainly expensive, was well worth it.
I am glad we stumbled upon Best Hearing Center on Yelp and that Dr. Freeman is an audiologist who is caring, honest, and compassionate. She knows very well how to work with the hearing impaired and their families! She helped my family work through this very challenging situation and most importantly is helping my father-in-law hear what he has been missing.
