Here's what happened....I was stranded on the side of the road, he would not rent a motorcycle trailer to my wife because the tail lights were broken on the trailers they had. So he made her wait until the morning. Morning came and he half-assed his job causing damages to our towing electrical connection. He didn't make sure the connection was tight and somewhere along the trip it gave way causing our connector to drag on the ground and break. My wife mentioned it to a staff member when we returned the trailer and he advised us to return and speak to the supervisor. So we returned and the kid told us "I didn't even connect the trailer at the time I took the photo"(I think that's a policy or something idk). Then told my wife "it's nothing that I did" she responded with "isn't it your job to make sure everything is connected before the trailer leaves the lot?" He said "well ya but the picture I took doesn't have it connected so your on your own..." What kind of business is this? In all of our years we've given uhaul our business we've never had such a bad experience with anyone.

    Our experience started in June of 2024 when after 2-years of renting trucks from Penske we thought…read moreit would be in our best interest to purchase one. We rent trucks and require a semi-about 4x per month. Here is a vehicle price breakdown for factual affect; The total price=$53,299 (taxes, fees, etc); we gave a deposit of $11,000-$500 (Title fee); which means our principal payment from the lender (we thought was Premier) would be $41,799. And on the BOS from Penske this is the price breakdown. But the contract changed when Penske got LEAF involved without our knowledge or consent. Now LEAF is stating that our contract buyout would be $51,330.72 (because we have made 4 payments.) These are the facts every buyer should be aware of and concerned by. How we got here is outlined below and for those of you say their idiots, or this is your fault-I hear you. This entire scenario has tested me and my husband beyond measure, and we should have walked away after being transferred to 4 people all working for the same company, but we really needed this truck. Now I am just hoping to stop some entrepreneur or excited business owner from ever working with or financing with Penske, Premier Financing or LEAF Capital. From June 20, 2024-July 15th, 2024; we were under the assumption that the financing for the vehicle would be thru Premier Financing who holds the vehicle certificate. This was the entity that requested all our bank documents, insurance information and all the applicable statements needed to finance a truck. We even signed the Vehicle BOS #079612....... on July 10th, 2024. Then for some unrequested reason and without explanation we received an email from LEAF on July 16th, 2024. We did not choose LEAF capital; in fact, we were never consulted or informed there would be a transfer so we (apparently like idiots) assumed the Vehicle BOS from Penske would carry thru to LEAF. LEAF does not have a prepayment penalty clause in their contract, but they do state in section 2 under Payments that the 'Borrower may not prepay any portion of this Agreement. None of this was ever explained to us by anyone at Premier Financing or at LEAF. We signed the BOS and agreement with Premier Financing on 07/10/2024 that has no conditions about a prepayment penalty but now LEAF is saying even if you want to pay if off early you will be subject to the interest of the additional 54-months.

    **Find another installer--or do it yourself.**…read more All in all, I got ripped off by U-Haul. I paid U-Haul to install a tow hitch and wiring on my 2023 Honda Passport. The hitch itself was bolted on securely--I'd certainly hope so. But the rest of the experience was a mess. Thirty-seven minutes after I dropped off my vehicle, I got a call saying it was ready. I paid $165 for labor, which means they charged me over $200/hour. For that price, I expected professional work--not something that looked like cousin Clem had slapped it together in his backyard. When I picked up my Passport, I noticed the wiring connector wasn't mounted next to the hitch. I asked the installer to show me where it was, and he opened the hatch, lifted the rear floor cover, and pointed to a wire dangling from under the trim. He said I was supposed to just pull it out and hook it up to the trailer. Then he claimed that to mount it properly next to the hitch, he'd need to drill a two-inch hole into the body of my vehicle. I was stunned. I'd watched U-Haul's own installation videos, which clearly showed a grommet that allows the wire to pass through the frame--no drilling required. I filed a complaint with U-Haul, which was forwarded to the same location. They told me to come back and they'd "make it right." When I returned, the installer (James) insisted he'd have to cut the wire to get it through the hole. Again, completely wrong--U-Haul's own video showed that the 4-wire flat connector fits through without issue. At that point, I told the General Manager I'd do it myself. I didn't want James touching my vehicle again. The GM was kind enough to give me a mounting bracket for free, and I left. Later, I discovered that the left rear seat button no longer worked. I suspected James had disconnected the switch and failed to reconnect it. Sure enough, when I removed the trim to properly mount the bracket and route the wiring, I found the seat connector - which was indeed left disconnected - and reconnected it. And yes--James was wrong again. The flat 4 connector passed through the grommet hole with zero issues. I mounted the bracket properly and finally have a clean install, instead of the hillbilly setup U-Haul left me with.

Zero attention to detail or pride in what they give customers. Customer service? Nonexistent. The so-called manager is more interested in sitting around than actually doing his job. No explanation of procedures, no urgency, just an "I don't care" attitude. It felt like I was inconveniencing them for picking up a rental I paid for. Ebony, one of the employees, might as well have been on autopilot. She just goes through the motions with no interest in helping or even being polite. She and the heavy-set manager seem more focused on chatting with each other than serving customers. This location needs a revamp, mostly new employees, but truly some actual consistency.

I always thought you would finish taking care of one client before moving on to another, but not at this place. I had even called ahead of time several times just to make sure I had all my ducks in a row, but apparently there are no set guideline for procedures because different people kept telling me different things. We finally just left without a new gate code because we got tired of waiting, hanging out in the heat and not being helped. There was one young guy who was as helpful as he could be, his name was Anthony. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff left him by himself at one point, and the place was swamped. We felt very sorry for him.

When we showed up to pick…read moreit up, we were told the person who was supposed to drop off the truck the night prior didn't (No idea why no one bothered to call me or why they couldn't reach out to another budget location to secure the truck we needed) and they didn't have a 16' one. Guess that was the only one as the other one had a fuel issue. While my boyfriend was more understanding, I was immediately pissed. We had furniture waiting back at our apartment for the truck! They were only able to offer us a smaller truck and when I asked for a discount, we were told that couldn't be done but they gave us unlimited mileage (considering we would now have to make more trips) and moving blankets. Ok, I was still frustrated but happy they were able to do something about our situation. Fast forward and we drop off our truck to a budget location in Mesa ONLY to be told the guy wouldn't accept it because the lot was full. How is that our problem.. so we once again were inconvenienced and had to return the truck to a different location. I contacted corporate frustrated and finally was able to get us some compensation back. I will NEVER EVER use Budget again. Worst customer service and experience. If I didn't call and basically complain and be persistent nothing would have been done and judging from other comments here, this seems to be how they conduct business.
