The unit itself was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with every possible amenity. And we enjoyed the lovely adjacent sunroom, where we were served wonderful continental breakfasts of fresh fruit compote and delicious pastries. Best of all, though, was the host himself. Bill saw to our every need and was a joy to work with. He was personable, kind, attentive, and respectful. We wish we lived Steilacoom, so we could continue the brief friendship we established with him. Our three-night stay at Above the Sound was the highlight of our trip to Washington. We highly recommend this lovely oasis.

Opening up their warm and gorgeous castle to you, Kat and Donn make great hosts that have that unique balance of being friendly and leaving you to discover on your own. The rooms are beautiful, the First Light room, even at the smallest room, was still well appointed with a walk in closet modified into a treasure chest of books, movies, games, a mini fridge and food area (both stocked with snacks even!) water container, extra towels, blankets, serious, it's like a huge cupboard of goodness. Breakfast was divine, seriously, that woman should open up a restaurant closer to me so I can eat there all the time! We stayed two days and were sad to go, I could have been happy there for a week. They have a myraid of animals that roam about and we made fast friends with the cat and pups, having those as tourguides around the grounds was a nice welcome. But let me tell you, that Turkish steam shower? Wow. WOOOOOOWWWWW! As relaxing as it sounds. Maybe more so. Overall, I can't wait to return and with the great prices and fantastic food that comes along with it, it's a sure thing we'll be back again and again. Thanks to both Kat and Donn for creating such a lovely space within just a few hours drive of busy Seattle.

Located on a bluff above Eagle Harbor, there is ample outdoor seating to enjoy the massive expanse of water and sky. A curving set of wood and stone steps lead down to the water where one can barbeque, go kayaking, sit and relax, or walk on the beach. I saw an eagle swoop on some cormorants that were sitting out on a floating dais (they dove and easily escaped him). The view of Mt.
