So, I had to go here for a class with my school and I read the reviews first. After reading about the old lady, I rolled my eyes and prepared myself to be greeted by my grandmother who was a wicked woman. I walked into the back room and sure enough I heard, "have a seat anywhere" and knew this is the one they were talking about. A frail elderly woman, she is, and this is just the way she sounds...The people who wrote negative things are just that; negative. They are unfamiliar with the old school ladies who had lived in the depression, WW2, and I'm no fairy princess life. So what..they were intimidated. ok here is what I did...I walked around the store and saw beautiful paintings she (Miss Mildred of 90 years) had painted. I asked her questions, you know, like how long has this store been her. SHE PLEASANTLY TOLD ME," 50 years". She poors all the ceramics herself. She knows the names and numbers of the colors better than the other women, whom, if you ask me, sit around and talk about their health problems and hospital procedures that I found a tad uncomforting, but SO WHAT! This woman has kick ass stories and she laughs and she jokes a bit. She was helpfull; she watched and made sure I was painting correctly, complimented us, and couldn't wait to get the ok from her doctor to get out of her wheelchair and walk again (she had surgery but didn't boast). If she told someone not to touch anything it is because that person didn't learn manners when it comes to looking at delicate things, that are hand made, easily broken, and ready to be sold. She is hard of hearing so speak up a little and don't cry if she doesn't answer you right away. This place has some dated ceramics but hey...everything comes from CHINA now. That said, her business does not flourish as it once did....do not let this art die out. They have awesome prices and FREE classes these days. Yes we like to be treated like royalty, but get off it...(your pedastal), just because the fairy princess didn't grant you the red carpet doesn't mean the place isn't nice. Someone got a little butt hurt. She should take a class there and learn something new. read more
