Well she put the window back up she assisted me it took all of 20 minutes to get it taken care of, and she was off to lunch, I don't think she appreciated the fact that I stopped her from going to her lunch but I did apologize after all there was a lot of us there and I'm sure a lot of us were hungry and ready to go to lunch as well. The office was clean, not many people waiting and the staff person who helped me was very professional. Had a surprisingly expeditious experience here…read more Going to the DMV is never fun and with the new Real ID requirements, we're going to find ourselves there more often. Tip: Make an appointment at least 2 months before your Drivers License expires! You will need to do your renewal in person to get a new photo (required for the new "Real ID"). Tip: Park on the West side of the Department of Revenue Building. That is where the DMV entrance is. I walked in just before my appointment time, gave the person at the check in counter my name, got a number and walked into the DMV to wait. There were only a handful of people waiting and plenty of seating. The building is pretty run down and if you are concerned about cleanliness, you may want to stand or BYO wipes for the plastic chairs. To my surprise, as soon as I walked in, my number was called along with the kiosk to report to. That was great. I didn't even have time to sit down. When you make your appointment online, there is a form with all kinds of information they want you to bring with you to confirm your identity and address (like a paystub, utility bill, etc.). It turns out, they don't actually need any of that if your DL hasn't expired yet and your address has not changed. They confirmed my information and sent me to get my photo taken. I only had to wait for one person ahead of me to get their photo taken. DMV photos are never flattering, but at least I got through it quickly. Unfortunately, at that point, they punch a hole in your ID and hand it back to you with a piece of paper saying your ID is not valid without the paper and that your new ID won't be mailed to you for ~30 days. I do not understand why they cannot print them onsite. So, this will be a PITA for the next month while I wait. However, within a couple of hours, my digital ID on the MyColorado App updated with the new expiration date. So, at least I can use that here in CO.

Zero customer service. They lie and don't keep their word or commitments. In my opinion the commissioner of my area should be looking for work in fast foods. Beautiful state, beautiful location, absolutely horrible regional office to deal with…read more This review is in regards to the VBA (disability, comp and pen folks), not the educational section here. This is where all the disability claims in Colorado for veterans are routed, and let me tell you, they do a terrible job, to the point of being corrupt. My friend and I are both veterans, both rated 90% now. When I was in Colorado I was at 50%, and the C & P examiners treated me like I was a criminal every time I went in there, no matter what the exam was for (upon appeal to the Board of Veterans Appeals several years later my claims were found to be credible and well documented). My friend, in even worse shape than I was, had been hospitalized several times and was in bank overdraft, struggling month to month. Not only did they not consider raising him from his overall rating of 20% but they proposed to sever his service connection. Just f-ing spiteful and unheard of. Needless to say an attorney picked up his case and immediately got it stopped/reversed (he is rated 90% now). Out of the 4 VBA employees I've interacted with, three of them were extremely rude/cold and acted like they were angry and hated to be working with veterans. When I was sent my VA rating/disability decision, it was mixed in with another veterans paperwork, so I saw her name, social security number, everything. I brought this to the local congressman's attention and he mentioned that they'd been making those mistakes a lot, as well as shredding/destroying medical records. Look, I understand that we have a national budget and not every vet can be 100%, but the Denver VBA folks really seem to have it out for vets and take things way too far. Aside from the usual stall tactics of delaying and not acknowledging very clear evidence that's been provided, they will further convolute the process by pulling dirty tricks like this severance proposal, which is clearly wrong and just expends more time and resources. Their ratings decisions are very subjective in their wording, stating things are personal opinions rather than a more objective approach (i.e. "You have the following symptoms a/b/c, you do not have the following symptoms d/e/f, your rating is therefore assigned at XX%). I can't even believe they get away on both a local and federal level with doing this to vets, people who have put their lives on the line and had some of the hardest things inflicted on them. Denver VBA -- SHAME. ON. YOU.

The shops were all very similar and touristy. The selection of restaurants wasn't too exciting either. Parking was challenging in the area. There was some free parking and some paid lots, but all options were full. I stopped by the Visitor's Center as well. Half the lot was reserved so parking here was a challenge also. They could use some *something* to make it more of an experience and a welcome to the town. Everyone was nice, but it felt empty and the amount of fliers for things felt too sell-y. I wanted to enjoy Golden so much, but it really felt like a tourist trap to me.

There's a giant parking lot right across the street with plenty of space, and it's walking distance to sooo many wonderful restaurants, bars, and other Arvada establishments. I haven't had a chance to explore the entire library building or the events calendar, but the staff was nice. Plenty of computers and books. The kids had a blast.
