As…read moreher health has recently declined, the calls have increased exponentially, sometimes up to four times per week. Every time South East responds, the paramedics are professional and caring. They have expressed their concern for my neighbor's declining health and have taken the time to contact those who are able to assist her in receiving more care. When I have let them into the building and identified myself as a friend of the caller, they have never failed to treat me well and with respect. In the last year, I have come to recognize many of the paramedics. For the number of people with whom they come in contact, it speaks highly of them that they remember me and never fail to ask how I am doing. They consistently offer excellent, compassionate care. I am deeply grateful for their patience and professionalism.

West Metro Fire Station #1 came to the rescue (pardon the pun) when the dog rescue I volunteer for…read moreneeded a venue to host our first holiday event. The family of fire-fighters at this location graciously handed over one of the engine truck bays for Eskie Rescuers United to move into. Even with nearly 10 tables, a throng of humans, and a small army of playful pups, ERU had the perfect amount of room to host our event, and the firemen were able to maneuver easily into the trucks when duty called (and it did a few times!) Believe it or not - the calls didn't really disrupt our event, either. Even more amazing was that not only did the firemen participate in the event by bringing in Preston, the huge Great Dane owned by one of the firemen, they even helped set up and break down our event!! None of these outstanding men were required to help, but every single one pitched in to do what they could to help break down tables, load the trucks, and make sure us fragile ladies didn't hurt ourselves ;) An incredibly professional, personable group - after spending the day with this team I would trust them with saving my life any day. They deserve the 5 stars I'm Yelping about - and then some!

District 6 Cops neither Serve nor Protect…read more I am a homeowner and resident in District 6, our property has a repeat Trespasser, RODNEY ALLEN TATE, who DPD Dist. 6, despite nightly calls from residents and owners, and the HOA President, despite a No Trespass Agreement on file with the City, despite multiple opportunities to arrest Mr. Tate sight on scene, refuses to timely respond to calls, and waits so long (over 2 hours on occasion) that TATE is no longer there by the time DPD shows up. On the rare occasion that they have responded in time to witness him in the act of trespassing - which is a crime against property and the people who reside here- they give him a warning. Case in point, they did this on Sunday March 23rd and guess what, RODNEY ALLEN TATE was BACK on 03/24/2025! When called to respond on 03/24/2025 they waited nearly an hour to respond, by which point TATE was gone again. This has been going on since before OCTOBER 2024, and DPD Dist. 6 has only managed to effectuate an arrest once. Abysmal. DO YOUR JOB DPD Dist. 6.

On paper, it's a pedestrian bridge connecting the Union Station side of downtown to Commons Park. In practice, it is one of Denver's most self-aware pieces of infrastructure. It does not just help you cross from one area to another. It makes sure you know you are having an experience. The bridge goes up and over the railroad tracks just south of Union Station, which gives the crossing more drama than your average urban walkway. You are not just getting from downtown to the other side. You are ascending above rail lines, light rail, and the low-grade chaos of that whole area like a person briefly rising above Denver's ongoing negotiation with itself. The design is civic theater. Big white mast. Cables. Clean lines. Early 2000s optimism. It has "public project that wanted to be iconic" energy. Denver could have built a plain functional bridge. Instead it said, no, let's make this pedestrian overpass look like it's aspirational. And then there are the stairs. The stairs are where the bridge really reveals itself. Because yes, this is a sleek architectural statement. But it is also, very literally, a bunch of stairs asking whether you meant it when you said you wanted to walk. There are elevators, thankfully, for anyone with luggage, mobility needs, or no interest in turning a casual crossing into a leg day. Denver may give you the aesthetic, but it would also like you to put in a little effort. What the bridge connects is actually useful. Union Station, downtown, and the 16th Street area on one side. Commons Park and the Platte Valley side on the other. So yes, it serves a real purpose. But it also feels like one of those places where Denver gets to pretend it's a denser, more polished city for about six minutes. The vibe is extremely local. A little aspirational. A little performative. A little windy. You cross it and see trains below, glass towers nearby, and just enough skyline to think, okay, maybe this town does clean up well. Then somebody on a scooter whips by, a runner treats the stairs like Red Rocks training, and your trance breaks. That is probably why the bridge works. It is dramatic without being truly grand. Useful without being humble. A piece of infrastructure with main-character syndrome. Would cross again.

The staff is great, friendly and efficient at keeping the tables clean for seamless table turnover. The wine list is refreshing... parking does stink on weekends because the area is so popular. It's got a lot of screens to watch games or open seating to catch up with friends.

I want to share an upsetting experience I had at Avanti, at the Thai restaurant. I ordered pad…read morethai, and it was extremely sour--far from how the dish is normally prepared. When I politely brought this to the staff's attention, instead of addressing the issue or offering a replacement, I was handed a bowl of sugar, as if that was an acceptable solution. I tried to explain again that the dish itself was not right, but the situation escalated unnecessarily. Rather than resolving the concern respectfully, security was called on me for simply voicing a complaint. The entire interaction felt dismissive and deeply uncomfortable, and it raised concerns for me about how customers are treated in that space. I'm sharing this because no one should feel disrespected or shut down for raising a valid concern about their meal.
