Access to the Great Allegheny Passage is easy from the shop, and parking has always easy as well. Both times we've use them we've worked with Scott, who wad incredibly helpful and did a great job calibrating our bikes to fit us. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Had a rough day on the trail Saturday with a lot of mechanical issues and was pleasantly surprised to find this place open on a Sunday morning. Scott went above and beyond to help with issues I was having with my bike and was pretty patient with me when I bought it back a second time before hitting the trail. He gamely got on my bike and rode it around to see if he could isolate the issues. He even offered to call other bike shops along my path to see if they would be open for me to check in if the problem persisted. He said that if we couldn't find an open bike shop, call him and he would figure something out. Bike road great. Not sure there are many people that offer this kind of service any longer. Scott (the owner) and Rachael (an employee) were awesome in attempting and succeeding to trouble shoot my Rad City E bike battery failure. I had accidentally inserted my key to release the battery into the charging port which caused it to arc and blackened the key. They had never opened a battery before , but after warning me about it voiding my warranty, and confessing their inexperience with the repair, they were game and got it done. The burnt fuse was not one they had in stock, but they didn't give up there. They called the retired previous owner who found a fuse in his home stuff and DROVE IT OVER on a Sunday and it worked!! OPEN 7 days a week!, friendly over the top service and it barely cost what lunch for 2 costs. Is this a time warp? Where in the world in 2025 do you still find this kind of stellar service? Luckily, I was at the bridge to Confluence, where a kid was handing out tickets for a free gift from Confluence Cyclery. The person at the counter - it may have been the owner - didn't have new shoes, and the hardware store, which might have had shoe goo, was closed. My girlfriend and I rented a pair of bikes here for a weekend of riding the Allegheny Passage trails. The bikes were in great shape, and $25 a day also got us helmets and plenty of recommendations about where to eat, how late the grocery stores were open, and anything else about the region we could think of. It's 100 scenic meters from the bike trail. Reservations were probably not necessary, but they do take them. They also can help you arrange to get picked up by a shuttle down the trail if you don't want ride out & back. read more

This is a fantastic bicycle shop, adjacent to the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) bike trail. Brad, the owner, is wonderful. He set us up with very well-maintained rental bikes, made careful adjustments to ensure a great fit for each rider, and gave us directions and recommendations for our ride. This has to be one of the best stocked, most helpful, most knowledgeable bike shop and owner I've ever met. We were on the GAP on a Sunday morning and I busted a spoke on my rear wheel with a full bikepack. So, I really couldn't continue with a broken spoke; I would have eventually broken other spokes. We stopped in to Confluence Cyclery and he was able to replace the spoke, true the wheel, fill the tire and put the wheel back on the bike in no time. He had exactly what I needed and knew exactly what had to be done. He was super helpful, had great advice, and tons of bike supplies in his shop. As we pedaled our way from Pittsburgh to DC in May of 2010, we made a quick stop for a brew in Ohiopyle. When we returned to our bikes, we discovered that one had toppled over, and twisted it's front wheel as it did so. Yah....that wasn't gonna make it another 250 miles, even with Laurel Highlands best truing effort. Off to Confluence Cyclery we go! I have seen the place in the past...I spend a lot of times in the Highlands. But you know, I have never been inside. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG? Simply put? This place ROCKS. From the awesome old building that houses the shop, to the selection of gear and bikes (both for sale and rent), to the quaint little antiques section, to the cool decor (I SOOOOO want the cycle switchplates!), Confluence Cyclery screams Fabulous Local Bike shop! But to top it off? The OWNERS! Wonderfully friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and just overall cool as all get out, they are what bike shop owners should be! From bikes, to local info, to questions about the trail....they were a true gem. And so is their shop! I make it a point to stop in a say hi every time I'm back through town. This is a nice shop along the GAP bike trial. We stopped in for cold drink while out for a ride and checked out the shop. They have a nice selection of gear and things were reasonably priced. Great bike shop along the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail. We stopped in to check out a bicycle computer. We found one at half the price of one I saw in Ohiopyle and Brad installed it on my bike in no time. Then I saw a reasonable front handle bar bag that I've been wanting for years and that got installed on the bike also. As he worked on the installations we chatted with him and a friend who had come for the busy July 4th weekend to help out. They gave us advice on saddles, restaurants and additional tourist sites. We exchanges stories. When we left we felt like old friends. We came back two days later and Brad tightened my bearings at no cost. He just asked that I make a donation to the local Fireman's Fund. Owner just got back from vacation 5 minutes before I called the cell phone number on the door (shop was closed), but he came to the shop immediately to open up and help me out. We live in Baltimore and spend a lot of time at Deep Creek Lake. We have bike shops that we like a lot in both places. We visited Confluence twice this summer (2013) and stopped at the Confluence Cyclery shop both times to have items added to our bikes to improve their riding comfort or functionality. We couldn't have been happier with the service we received from the owners. They could not have been more friendly or knowledgeable. You may have to be patient sometimes when you visit the shop because it is a very popular spot and the owners handle the work themselves. But they are very good at providing thorough responses and service and yet moving from customer to customer as quickly as possible under the circumstances. We do not purchase bicycle accessories or services all that often (1-2 times a year), so we are not very price aware. However, we felt that the prices for the items we purchased were very reasonable and the variety of items available was great, especially for a smallish shop.. We were also embarrassed by how little they charged for the work they did to help us with the modifications to our bikes. So, we now have three favorite bike shops spread over Maryland and Pennsylvania. But we will make a special effort to conduct as much of our future "bike business" as possible at the Confluence Cyclery shop. read more

The owner, Brad, has the best customer service attitude we've seen in a long time. He helped us to choose the right product, then gave us some extra tools to use to fix things up. We also ran across some new grips for our tandem at half the cost that our local bike shop sells them. Not only does Brad have good service, he isn't trying to rip people off! Like the reviewers before me, I had an incredibly positive experience. The owner diagnosed and fixed several small problems with my bike within 15 min and charged me $5. We needed to buy a helmet for my 13 yr old, who had outgrown his, and immediately the owner said, "You should get this model. It's the cheapest and meets all the safety standards, and since he's still growing and you'll have to buy a new one soon, this is your best bet." Since when has a salesperson not tried to sell me a nicer, higher priced product? They disposed of his old helmet and recycled the box that the new one came in! We come to Confluence to camp every year, and I will definitely find reasons to patronize this shop in the future. read more
