Nice and serene park located at the tip of Staten Island. Went on Sunday afternoon for a stroll. There really wasn't anything to do there expect for walking around and enjoying the nature. The kayak launching pier is still closed, and doesn't look like it'll be repaired anytime soon since it's been a couple years since Hurricane Sandy. There are small slightly hidden paths to the beach. Not sure if anyone actually swims there since there was so much shells, rocks, driftwood and garbage on the sand. Other then that, it was very serene. A lighthouse and New Jersey is visible across the river. We passed by many residents walking their dogs, and others just going out for a walk. The S78 bus stops near the park. Parking is outside the park, on the streets. There were many nice Victorian homes near the park for anyone who enjoys looking at vintage homes.

Absolutely a gorgeous place. The view from the house over looks Raritan Bay and Perth Amboy. A wonderful place for a picnic. There are also many trails to walk that are easy and flat. A true gem.

Beautiful park. A great chunk of history. I'd come here more often if it wasn't about as far as possible from my house and still on Staten Island.

Great park but be very careful when walking your dog(s) here because of ticks. We found three on my dog just this past Saturday.

The butterfly house was definitely a highlight for me. It's a really nice walk-through space with butterflies flying all around you, and some even land on you which made it feel really special. The chick hatchery was also really cool. Being able to see chicks hatch in real time is not something you get to experience often, and it's a great learning moment without feeling like a "lesson." There were also a lot of animals to see throughout the exhibits. We saw everything from turtles and snakes to more unique ones like Madagascar cockroaches. The kids were really into it and spent a lot of time just watching them. They also had the Easter Bunny there which was a nice bonus, and the photo is free which is always a plus. We made sure to check out SUE the T. rex before it leaves, it's huge and definitely worth seeing at least once. There's also a Daniel Tiger exhibit that's great for younger kids, especially if they just want to play and explore. Overall, it was a really fun and easy day with the kids. I like that it's a mix of fun and learning, and there's enough to keep everyone entertained for a few hours. Definitely worth visiting, especially while this event is still running.

Overall, we had a good experience, though it definitely felt more geared toward older children than very young ones. There is an interactive room designed for younger kids, which we appreciated. We tried the planetarium, but unfortunately my son didn't enjoy it--the images moving toward him scared him. Luckily, the show was only about 20 minutes long. Highlights: the "ice" rink (big win with the kids), a hands-on chromatography experiment where I learned about capillary action, and an air spout exhibit with a floating ball that my son couldn't get enough of. There were also animals and insects on display, which added some variety. Overall, we enjoyed the experience, but it did feel a bit expensive when you factor everything in. Admission for two with the planetarium ($8) was $73, and between driving, tolls, paid parking ($7), and heavy traffic on the way back to Westchester, it added up quickly. It's a fun and educational spot, especially for older kids, but the cost and travel make it more of an occasional visit for us.

First of all $35 bucks is way too much to spend for this place. Even $30 is too much. We happened to snag a $5 off our ticket . You could also get a group on for $31 bucks. I think $20 would have been a better price. This museum of pizza is located at the bottom of the William Vale Hotel - at the corner. It is open until November 18th 2018 only So this is not a big " museum" . You can be there 30-60 mins tops. There are like 8 ish rooms.... most of them are ehhhh... there is " art" as in paintings , sculptures etc - some of it boring and uneventful... especially for the price Some of it is cool... loved looking at all the different pizza boxes from different pizzerias... loved the pizza guitar and the painting of the nude girl eating pizza on the bed. Loved the glow in the dark room... good photo op. We also loved the photo booth in the back of the DiGiorno room. I liked the last supper and Adam and Eve banners also You can get some popcorn to watch 3 short films And you get a slice of pizza at the end . It was hot and good to me . Water was offered . Surprisingly no bathrooms inside- you would have to go to the William Vale lobby to use the bathroom It would have been way more disappointing if this was the only thing we did ... thank god we made a day of it and also went to Brooklyn Bowl.

I particularly like how the wandering paths lead me back to the towering bamboo which is the entry point to the garden. The natural elements and the architecture built in the garden is a peaceful place fit for the scholar's meditation and study. There is a circular portal that leads to a courtyard with rocks that form a geometric pattern on the ground, guiding the eye to the organic shapes of the plants and trees. One element guides the eye to another element through contrast and even through repetition of shapes as can be seen in how there is a scallop edged wall behind this courtyard with the circular doorway. The circle motif is echoed in the design of the scallop edged wall beyond which flows another pond and yet more plants of different sizes. The landscape design also includes the waterfalls, pavilions and a rock-carved walkway with steps on it as well as a walkway that is zig-zagged! A great backdrop for picture taking with interesting rock formations along the pond in the courtyards. Also, when you pass by the koi fish pond, you could hear the splashing sounds they make as they swim around in the water. It brings an inner calm, tranquility and peacefulness to the viewers when they see the koi fish swim in the still water. I highly recommend a visit to the Chinese Scholar's Garden!
