When I needed a bike rack hitch on my Toyota Crown I started with the Toyota dealer who said they don't do it. After a search of local installers I went over to Conejo Vacation trailer and talked to Mike. He went online, found the hitch specifically made for my car and gave me a quote. Next I checked with my local bike shop and they recommended Eckharts, a local chain so I went in to see them and was told they could only do a custom hitch which would run me $100 more than what Mike quoted. Mike's shop is a bit of a mess but don't be fooled by appearances--he knows what he's doing. He ordered the hitch, called me when it was in and promised me it would take about two hours. At two hours and 10 minutes I drove away with my new hitch and drove straight to my bike shop where I told the tech about Conejo Vacation Trailer. Everybody knowws Mike! Waddah guy. It appears there's nothing he can't do. Bought a cool cargo carrier for an upcoming road trip. Easy to assemble... BUT... the car hitch I bought and had installed was the wrong size. No problem, right? So I bought and adaptor. Problem solved... WRONG ! I thought the carrier came with rear lights. Ooops, ordered wrong model. Went to my Honda dealer service. Nope, they don't to electrical work. It's really complicated. They told me to go to Mike at this RV sales place down the road. Their directions were messed up. Went to a variety of RV sales and repair places who knew Mike, but their directions were just as shoddy, but I found him. Ok, he can do the job. But wait ! After installing the complicated electrical work, he attached the carrier. Oh no! The adaptor I bought lengthen the carrier by almost a foot, won't work. Since he told me he does welding, so I asked if he could create a new adaptor. He actually got. EXCITED ! He loves to tackle work that involves creativity and challenges his brain. Never have I seen a service person get excited about extra hard requests. Mike is truly gifted and one of a kind ! He worked a miracle. It was top notch work. He's the only guy around the southern Ventura county that does this kind of work. No wonder the Honda service guys and the 3 RV places I mistakenly went to go to him for their electrical work! My ask was to put a hitch receiver on my Subaru. I was told my vehicle could only have a 1 1/4 hitch and given the price. The price was reasonable to I went through with it. 2 solid reasons for the 2 missing stars: 1) they cut my bumper to make the hitch receiver fit without even asking. I could live with this if it were done well but it looks like it was done with a dull utility knife. 2) I found out months later that you CAN buy a 2 inch hitch receiver for my car which also is shaped correctly so the bumper does not have to be cut so I was making decisions based on incorrect information. I thought my car was in the hands of experts but clearly, for my particular vehicle, they had no idea what they were doing and now I'm spending another $500 to get the right hitch receiver (and my bumper is still damaged). I can't speak highly enough of Mike. I put in a tow package for the dealer where I bought my SUV from. I've gone back to him for repairs to a leaking oil cooler many years later. He replaced the oil cooler, and wouldn't accept any payment from me. I've been back a couple of times to fix trailer light connections, and he jumped in right away, and again wouldn't charge me. Bear with this long and will deserved review!! After purchasing a new motorhome, our dealer (Tom Lindstrom RV) recommended Mike at Conejo Vacation Trailer to install a tow bar and braking assembly on our Jeep Rubicon and new Dutch Star RV. I was nervous since both units are new and the RV is a diesel pusher. Plus, we wanted a permanent mounted braking system, which meant the Dutch Star braking airlines needed to be cut and tapped into. Mike suggested the Blue Ox tow bar, and the Air Force 1 braking system. Our install was scheduled for a Thursday (Jeep) and Friday (motorhome). I had total confidence in Mike and he delivered a perfect install. It was beautifully put in, all nicely and seamlessly integrated into both vehicles. It's better looking than if the factory did the install itself! Plus, he had to fabricate a heavy duty extension receiver hitch with a 6" rise to match the height of our lifted Jeep (we're big into off-roading too). A true artist with a welder! Thank goodness he has a large inventory of raw metal tubing as well as new towing accessories! I also returned the following Monday needing a 3" drop hitch with a 7" extension for the back of the Jeep to accommodate a bike rack to clear the large spare tire. Again, hand crafted! Almost done.... Mike is an awesome metal fabricator, an artist with an install, and truly a trustworthy professional businessman. I HIGHLY recommend his services!!! read more

I've known Mike Walker since high school and know he is an honest and conscientious guy. Recently purchased an Eagle Cap truck camper. I had a fantastic experience with Mike this March. Needed to set up a new car for flat towing behind a new RV - all firsts for me. Mike spent time on the phone walking me through the equipment and installation options, we came up with a plan, he gave me a price and we made an appointment for the work a week later. We showed up and he was all ready for us with all the necessary equipment on hand and ready to go. He installed a base plate, battery disconnect switch and power supply to the battery on my GMC Canyon toad. Very clean installation! He sold me a 10,000 lbs Blue Ox tow bar with all the necessary cables. Finally, he set up a portable RVI brake system to be quickly and simply moved in and out of the toad with a really slick battery disconnect switch. All this without ever seeing the RV, just working from pictures and measurements! When we realized I needed a slightly different sized hitch adapter to align the RV tow hitch with the toad base plate, he made one on the spot! He makes you the priority when you have an appointment with him, has a high attention to detail and for the work I had him do for me, it's always been done before the due date. I recently went into mike to convert my fifth wheel to run dual six volts. I wanted to support local business and knew I could get the interstates at Costco cheaper but he bro'd me down and cut me extra lengths of wire I needed. I also happened to pick his brain about how to make my fifth wheel ride more level with my truck because I was out of adjustment on both the hitch and pin box. He mentioned welding a subframe and remounting the suspension. Knowing that mikes the best in his trade I made an appointment dropped it off and a day earlier than expected it was finished.
