The tacos were packed with protein, honestly a much better meat-to-filling ratio compared to the quesadilla. We didn't try the burritos this time, but maybe we'll give one a try on our next visit...maybe. It's mainly a lunch stop and takeout only, so plan to grab your food and head to a nearby park or shady corner to enjoy it. It is cash only, though there's an ATM inside, and you'll find assorted drinks, juices, and refreshing aguas frescas to go with your meal. The line can get long, so arrive early and bring your patience. They can sell out too, so plan accordingly. Overall, it's a low-key spot with authentic flavors and reasonable prices. If you don't mind waiting a bit, it's worth trying for an early lunch since there are plenty of other great restaurants in the area.

Enter Agave Maria's Restaurant. First of all, I have no idea why this place doesn't have higher reviews. Maybe people came on a full moon in retrograde or something, because our experience was five stars all the way. We got seated immediately, and before I could even say "where's the salsa," chips and salsa magically appeared on the table. Instant happiness. Of course, margaritas were required (weekend getaway rules). They came out fast, tasted amazing, and didn't knock us on the floor. This has perfect balance enough tequila to make you smile, not enough to make you start texting your ex. For food: I went with the beef enchiladas and cheese tamale with rice. Holy moly. The beef was shredded so tender it basically fell onto the fork by itself. You can tell it was cooked slow and with love. My husband got the street tacos , it had corn tortillas, cilantro, onions, rice and beans on the side. He didn't talk to me for five minutes straight, which is the international sign of this food is too good to pause for conversation. Service was super fast and staff were super attentive. Food came out quicker than expected. Prices are a bit higher. Remember, when you're on a weekend getaway, calories and budgets don't count. Bottom line: If you're in Ojai and want Mexican food that makes your tastebuds sing, come here. Order a margarita, enjoy the vibe, and you can thank me later for this recommendation

It was a bit warm to sit outside (80°F) and the wait for outdoor was 30 min so we opt to sit inside. We still had a nice view of the golf course and the rolling hills behind the golf course. By the bar area is a huge bar bench with a huge open window. We didn't notice that spot otherwise I would have suggested it. (Next time!) The lunch prices were really great. Our total bill with tip was $50. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich that was delicious, juicy but also really messy. And my friend got the Bistro Burger. We spit out sandwich/burger in half with one another to try both. Although I liked my Buffalo chicken, I think I preferred the burger. We also both upgraded to truffle fries.

Upon arrival, the staff seemed a bit frazzled. The menu changed a few times, which made things a little confusing, but the two women helping us were very kind and did their best, they just didn't seem fully prepared for a group our size. We kept our orders simple, and surprisingly, the food came out extremely fast... before the coffee even arrived. Overall though, the food was good. I had the avocado toast, which was really tasty, and everyone in the group seemed to enjoy what they ordered. The real standout here is the setting, the golf course and surrounding grounds are absolutely beautiful and make for a really nice atmosphere. Overall, a solid spot for smaller groups or a casual outing, but larger parties might be a bit of a challenge for them.

I am definitely surprised by the lower reviews as our experience on a Sunday evening was pretty stellar and hopefully the reviews continue to be more positive if the restaurant and staff are making adjustments to the feedback. We stumbled in on a Sunday evening after wine tasting. We truthfully wanted round two of drinks and a clean bathroom lol. I had heard about this spot in the past and their curb appeal drew us in. Love their signage, the name/logo on the front wall, and once we walked in the bar seemed very cute and inviting. Probably what would have been an initial red flag was that it was dead inside but we just wanted to sit and enjoy a cocktail. The outdoor patio seemed cute and did have like three tables full. We looked over the menu and were actually very impressed. They have an extensive cocktail menu with fun looking drinks and ingredients. The food menu looked pretty appetizing to me if I'm being honest. Based off of the menu alone I'd come back. Happy hour during her weekdays seems legit too. My group only ordered cocktails but the drinks were pretty and a generous pour! Three of us ordered the prickly pear margaritas and we loved the tall glass they came in. We really loved how the female bartender whipped our drinks up super quickly. My other friend got a Smokey cocktail and we all agreed we really liked our drinks. Had we not already been drinking all afternoon I would have definitely ordered another cocktail. The staff were actually very nice and sweet (going against other reviews). The bartender again was really quick with the drinks and made them very tasty. The waitress who checked up on us was darling. Me and my girlfriends were deep in conversation and I appreciated how she would check in on us but also was mindful to not seem interruptive. She also gave us recommendations on what food is popular and to order next time. While I only experienced the bar area I was very pleased with our visit. Drinks were good, the decor cute, and nice staff. Hoping more people will give them a try as we really liked this spot. Clean single bathroom too in the back which was helpful as we all needed a pit stop and refresh. Definitely keeping this spot in mind next time I'm in Ojai and needing a margarita.
