Condita deserves it's Michelin star and in my opinion deserves a second. I have dined in many starred restaurants and this one has to be most unassuming locale and appearance of all of them. Frankly when the taxi pulled up in front I thought i had given them the wrong address, a small storefront on a side street tucked between two other businesses it looks more like an appliance repair store from the outside. Once through the door, a small intimate room with incredible jazz played from vinyl surrounded the four tables and semi open kitchen. They were very accommodating to my wife being a pescatarian and we both got a puzzle that describes the menu - i got three of 10 right, my wife 5 of ten. It's all about the surprise.
The presentation was incredible, and the innovation of the chef was unbelievably great. Gorse flowers on ice cream - as a golfer i hate gorse, but it tastes good and i feel sorry for the forager who had to pick it. Looking at the photos, it looks like very small portions but we both left fully satisfied and a quite full. I had the wine pairings which were unusual and with one exception quite good and very fairly priced. The wine list had many other great wines at good value if the pairing isn't to your liking. I can't tell you how great this place was to dine in, the best I've ever had in Scotland.
Highly, Highly recommend! read more
