I don't think my limited…read moreexposure to their expertises, and more limited medical knowledge, is enough ground for me to give them a "rating". However, I can rate the services of the front office and the premise. First of all, Dr. Alfred Chu is an oral surgeon with 3 offices. He does not do general dentistry. All consultations are by appointments only. This particular office is located in an unassuming plaza that looks like an industrial plaza. The sign out front is small. You blink and you would miss it. Once inside, the office looks like a self-respecting medical office. It is clean. There is a roomy seating/waiting area, and a clean public restroom. The front counter is the "customer facing" front, so to speak. The two ladies are friendly and patient. When I asked the 1000th question, she was still kind and relaxed, and answered it. The efficiency of the paperwork processing is mind blowing. On the phone, I was told the exact paperwork and IDs that I had to bring with me to the appointment. The patient form has all the legal permissions required, from filing for insurance to disclosure of private information for audit purposes. I paid for the services with my own credit card. The office lady filed the insurance claim for reimbursement on my behalf before I stepped out of the office, all in 5 minutes. Of course I can complain about the outdated Readers' Digest in the waiting room. Or I can care where it counts: the medical and non-medical services.

Would have been nice to be told I had to pay upfront, was given no warning. My family has no money for groceries until I can get the insurance money back. Will never return. I'm a big baby in the dentist chair and he understands and respects that :D He gently cleans my teeth manually because my teeth were too sensitive for the ultrasonic cleaner. There's a big TV on the wall facing the chair and I watch my fav program while Dr Baik does his work and time seems to pass quickly. A regular check and clean takes about 35 mins. We have recommended many friends to NYS Dental and all of them are happy we did :)

Dr Baik and Kim, his assistant are simply amazing. Every time I go into the dentist office I always see Kim and she is so friendly and nice. I never have to wait as they are always on time. So now let me get to the good part. The best part of going to North York Square (NYS) Dental is simply because I have never met such an amazing dentist. Dr Baik takes the time to examine my teeth and does not try and rush though it. I never feel like I have been butchered like some other dentist offices where I feel like I was put though torture. So I would give Dr Baik 5 stars for just the cleaning. However, if I could give 10 out of 5 stars for real dental work (fillings ...) I would say Dr Baik is the best. I have went to a lot of different dentists and I have never had it where I walked in for a filling and walked out thinking did I just get a filling. He seems to have this special skill on how to freeze your mouth without you even knowing it unlike those horrible dentists who feel like they just jam that needle in your mouth. I am being 100% honest and if you really want to go to a dentist that you feel comfortable with and actually not want to feel any pain then I would recommend NYS Dental to everyone. Thank you so much and I am happy to give this review.

the treatment I've received after having surgery at this clinic is completely unforgivable…read more Everything seemed to go smoothly after surgery However my recovery was difficult as this was a revision and when i requested specific painkillers i was met with resistance and reluctance because according to one of his own on call doctors they are afraid to prescribe anything beyond generic over the counter painkillers like tylenol, ibuprofen and naproxen because they fear people are going to become addicted to stronger stuff. Excuse me? But this is an extremely invasive and painful procedure requiring real painkillers for people to bear the experience. Never mind the fact that eating is difficult after jaw surgery. now i must deal with the pain because your afraid i might become addicted when i am merely asking for potent pain killers during the infancy recovery stage of this procedure. Your supposed to be reluctant to give these meds after a significant amount of time has passed not the very beginning. For the first week of surgery i had to go three days without any pain killers all they did was prescribe anti inflammatories regardless of the fact my stomach could not tolerate them. The level of disrespect and lack of caring about a person's overall health is out of this world. I've received better healthcare from a plastic surgery chop shop in miami known for killing patients. I'm extremely disappointed because initially my doctor seemed to genuinely care about helping me yet once the surgery was done it was like playing phone tag between him and his assistance to help me. As frankly none of them seemed to give an F. One of the assistants even told me i needed to be patient after waiting two days without painkillers despite being 3 days post op with fresh wounds healing. I planned to sing my dr,'s praises after my surgery but the only thing i can say is this has been nothing short of a nightmare.

The receptionist made sure I knew ahead of my appointment that I can't eat or drink anything 8 hours prior to surgery, that I would need to pay up front, and I would need my health card and insurance information to sign all the forms. She also made sure I would NOT be able to drive myself home after, that I would need someone to take me home (my father in this case). I had Dr. John Gay as my oral surgeon and he was an absolute delight! We bonded over being (somewhat) name buddies too--Joy, Gay, same thing right? He was funny and explained everything I needed to know about wisdom teeth removal and after care. Dr. Gay explained different options for wisdom teeth removal, such as only removing 2 right now and 2 later so we could get reimbursed more from insurance (we went with 4 that day anyways). He even patiently explained to my father--a wisdom teeth skeptic--the importance of wisdom teeth removal, the future issues that may occur, and the fact that my wisdom teeth have cavities in them anyways so there's no point in filling them in! The dental assistant who did my panorex, gave me anesthesia, and checked up on me after surgery was super nice. She really knew what she was doing and had a really great positive energy about her! I actually fell asleep a little too soon after getting the oxygen and general anesthesia--it was early in the morning and I went to sleep way too late the night before. They managed to figured out how to get all the other things in my mouth for surgery, so bonus points to them! The surgery itself was super quick, it was only about 30 minutes in total! It was faster than the consultation, filling out forms, and some general waiting. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone thinking to get their wisdom teeth out!

While removing one tooth, he destroyed two more adjacent teeth. When leaving his office, I was given the statement. Later on when I was back to my normal state of mind, I looked into the statement. The amount charged to my credit card was different from what I paid before the procedure. This second payment was charged without my authorization. The amount for bone regeneration increased from $820 to $ 1050. Also, the statement showed another "bone regeneration" the Dr. Yarmand claimed has been done, although there were no cuts, stitches or threads in that place of my mouth. To extract destroyed teeth and complete the project, I went to another surgeon. Unlike Dr. Yarmand, this other Doctor performed all procedures under local anesthesia as I requested. He did not request a one-thousand- dollar deposit before the procedure. Payments were taken only upon the completion of each procedure. For each procedure, he charged amounts the same as on the estimates. Every time, my credit card was charged in front of me. The price for each implant was 20% lower than with Mr. Yarmand. To follow-up on the second version of Dr. Yarmand response. 1. Dr. Yarmand declined my specific request for local anaesthesia in favour of IV ($680+$60). Regarding, "IV sedation comfort", the nurse tried to insert a needle into my vein 3 times. Then, she called for help another nurse who was able to get into my vein on her 2nd attempt. 2. According to the 1-st payment receipt, my credit card was charged at 9:18 a.m. in front of me before the procedure. According to the 2nd payment receipt, my credit card was charged 2nd time with different amount (to replace the 1st charge) at 12:16 p.m. without my knowledge while I was still in the operating area. According to the wall clock in the operating area, I left this area at 12:22 p.m.( 6 min after my card was charged). 3. When I asked Dr. Yarmand about my destroyed teeth he did not apologize, did not express regret about the damage he did to me. I was in shock. I couldn't discuss anything with him anymore. To replace destroyed teeth with implants, I paid $10K to another surgeon.

The dentist didn't give me great vibe, but nothing specific I can point to. I bought a second Groupon, and was told that I could only use it once. That's fine, and I'm not upset about that. What I'm upset about is that the Groupon is advertised as being regularly 495$, yet when I called to make an appointment, they told me their regular fee was 99$ for a checkup and cleaning with X-ray, and 89$ without an X-ray. The groupon is for 79$ without an X ray. I believe it was 50$ for the X-ray when I went in the first time. You do the math. Don't buy the Groupon.

After the cleaning they gave me a visual inspection for cavities and said I had about $1500~ worth of cavities.
