From the moment I arrived, the interaction felt passive-aggressive and unwelcoming. Instead of making me feel like a patient who needed care, I was made to feel like an inconvenience. What stood out the most was being offered a different location to go to, which came across as though I was not welcome at this facility. There was no explanation, reassurance, or effort to be kind or helpful--just a dismissive tone that made the situation uncomfortable and discouraging. When someone seeks urgent care, they are often already stressed, unwell, or vulnerable. Being met with hostility or indifference at the front desk is unacceptable and deeply concerning. Front desk staff set the tone for the entire visit, and in this case, it reflected poorly on the professionalism and patient-centered values CareNow claims to uphold. I truly hope management addresses this issue, as no patient should feel pushed away or treated with passive aggression when simply trying to receive medical care.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report the…read moreunacceptable care, medical negligence, and abusive treatment my mother, experienced at Centerpoint Hospital. My goal in sharing this is to ensure accountability and prevent any other family from suffering such a traumatic experience. My mother arrived at the hospital via ambulance exhibiting clear symptoms of a neurological emergency: she was unable to walk, had numbness on both sides of her body, and was struggling to speak. Despite this, the emergency room staff failed to conduct a stroke assessment entirely. Instead, they misdiagnosed her with "dehydration." The staff intended to discharge her in this state, and it was only due to our persistent advocacy and insistence that she be admitted that further testing was performed. These subsequent tests confirmed that she was, in fact, suffering from multiple mini-strokes on both sides of her lower brain stem. It is deeply alarming that the hospital staff was prepared to send a stroke patient home, and I am now deeply concerned that we are being billed thousands of dollars for the incorrect diagnosis and inadequate care provided during that initial assessment. Furthermore, during her stay, the nurse assigned to her care was physically and verbally abusive. This nurse refused to assist my mother in getting to the bathroom, forcing her to attempt to move while physically unable to do so. The nurse was verbally abusive, repeatedly accusing my mother of being a "drunk" or "on drugs" and claiming she was "faking" her pain while forcibly removing her clothing. When my sister and I attempted to advocate for our mother, the nurse was hostile, rude, and continued to glare at us from outside the room. We requested to speak with hospital management multiple times regarding this behavior. While we were repeatedly promised that someone would discuss the situation with us, no one ever appeared to address our concerns. The fact that my mother was treated with such cruelty and professional incompetence during a life-threatening medical emergency is completely unacceptable. We are demanding: 1. An immediate investigation into the conduct of the nursing staff and the emergency department's failure to follow standard stroke protocols. 2. An official amendment to my mother's medical records to accurately reflect her condition and the failure to diagnose. 3. A full review and adjustment of all billing charges related to the misdiagnosis and the negligent care provided. We expect a prompt and formal response regarding how you intend to address these serious failures.

After 3 years apparently you're discarded and considered a new patient, and every PCP office I called within the Lees Summit and surrounding areas either aren't accepting new patients or they're not scheduling new patient appointments for a minimum of 5-8 months, leaving me without help after severely injuring my back, I was in so much pain, and I needed immediate care, so I made a same day appointment (on a Sunday) at NextCare Urgent Care is Lees Summit (off of McBaine Drive), and they exceeded my expectations in every way. First, you can make an appointment online, and they honor those appointments (no matter how many walk-ins are there before you.) In addition I have received exceptional care. I've been twice in the last 2 weeks, and have had to call in multiple times. They are always quick to respond and incredibly helpful. From the front desk (who is also the R.T./x-ray tech), to the nurse who was so kind, caring and helpful, to the Dr/FNP Thomas Sims, I have received excellent care. I cannot say enough great things about them. If you need immediate care (that doesn't require going to the ER) I encourage you to make an appointment with NextCare Urgent Care in Lee's Summit. You will not be disappointed.

The professional technicians: Richard and Arlene [portable X-Ray team] Mary in the CT Scan area, Austin who conducted my small bowel follow through and WENDY Ultra Sound operator extraordinaire !!! from the Imaging Department cannot be surpassed. One of the housekeeping crew is so sweet! Milinda was super - - dedicated to her work and engaging with those hospitalized. On another note - - the hospital food is VERY good! Kudos to the kitchen crew and Bernadette who delivered my meals. I was particularly impressed with the treatment rendered by Dr. Mattias D'Anna. Dr. Mattias D'Anna is a hospitalist at CenterPoint Medical Center. He has called on me on two of my separate hospitalizations. He's kind, knowledgeable and a wonderful communicator. He has a gift for using layman's terms to explain medical conditions, their impact on my wellness and how best to move forward. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Was then put in a holding area for patients they wanted to admit. Sat in a small empty room with a curtain for hours and 0 care. Had a doctor finally come talk to me with a "guess" on what the diagnosis could be. Hours more go by, again have to use the call button to get any answers. Suddenly I'm being moved upstairs and a surgeon will come and talk to me?! Get upstairs finally get some treatment. The RN didn't even understand what the doctor was doing. The surgeon seemed annoyed he was called because I was fine. Stayed over night wanted to leave the next day. Suddenly I'm to low on potassium. I'm like cool I'll do that then leave. "Oh no we don't plan to do any more labs today." Excuse me? And then suddenly I'm low on magnesium and have to get treatment for that too? Like I felt better and I wanted to go home and they were constantly trying to unnecessarily keep me. They could send me home with a prescription. Misdiagnosed, no communication, unnecessary tests. This hospital was a joke. I had to threaten an ama just to get out of there. Find somewhere else!
