Dr. Gunn and his medical assistant Trish are fabulous. He has been my Dr for over 25 years. I trust his expertise and knowledge when caring for my family. I've had nothing but great experiences at the Independence Encompass office. Wait times aren't horrible and I've used the lab and Xray as well as my GP. Dr. Gunn is phenomenal as is Trish, his nurse. Trish is very caring and knows all of the patients well. She knows all the right questions to ask! I was just telling Dr. Gunn this morning that I have followed him through many offices, even if my insurance did not cover him and it's all because he is caring, innovative, concise and knowledgeable. I see it as a significant benefit to have one doctor that knows all your history, respects and listens to your input and questions, and is consistent in both approach and practice. read more

I have been going to this facility for years. I am fortunate to have a kind, caring and listening doctor in Dr. Wagner. She is great - and one good look'n woman, to boot! I've read the comments left about the staff and I have to say, either I'm not paying attention, or I must get special treatment (which I don't!) because I've never noticed what is described. I knew when I got my health insurance card, that the first thing I'd do was take care of my shoulder, which I hyper extended while doing P90X in January. I wanted my thyroid tested, cause I didn't loose any weight while doing P90X. I had just caught my car door on the inside of my nose....true story, I'm THAT woman. The one who has the weirdest accidents. I called Encompass, who are in my network. Surprisingly, I got right in the very next day. I went there, and I hardly had time to sit down in the waiting room before they had me in the exam room. The doctor, an older doctor, female, saw me, referred me to ortho for my shoulder at Centerpoint hospital, ordered the labs I wanted, ordered a pappy and a mammy (ladies will get it). I went around the hall, got my labs done (a bunch of them, including full thyroid panel). I went out to the desk, scheduled the pappy, came home. She faxed a scrip for nasal steroids (my nose had practically closed after the car door incident, and needed to be patent). Everything I expected. The doctor, fair, weak bedside manner. They called within the hour to schedule the mammy, which they do there. They have a cool online system, where you can go online and see your labs.I like to know all my numbers, as I'm a nurse, and read hundreds of charts a week. Update: I made an appointment to see the podiatrist, and the appointment desk employee tried to argue with the fact that I can't make appointments, due to my job, before 3. She said, "Yes you can," I said, "No I can't take off before 3, I'll get in trouble." "Well, the doctor only accepts patients in a row. You can't come in at 3, even though the time is open." I said, "I'm coming at 3. That's my appointment time." "Please call if you can come in earlier." "I can't come in any earlier, my job won't let me take off." How odd. Oh and, even though my doctor's personality isn't the most friendly, she had excellent follow up, so I appreciate it. Well 20 minutes waiting for a reception to answer the phone should have been a good indication. Tried to make an appointment with Dr Glass, but told she is not taking new patients. I asked if there is any other doctors that will prescribe HRT, which she stated Dr Glass will take transgender patients, but requires a letter from a therapist......I transitioned 5 fives ago. There is no need for a letter from a therapist, the estrogen is to maintain the balance and for bone health. Very rude.....do not waste your time with this clinic. read more

Worst staff ever. I like seeing Dr. Nguyn, but after dealing with the scheduling and front desk staff, I will never go back. The personnel is unprofessional, not qualified to be making scheduling decisions for Doctors and extremely rude. I called to see Dr. Nguyn today and was told he was on vacation for two weeks. When I asked if I could see a different Doctor at the facility I was told they were all booked. Really for the next two weeks? I seriously doubt that and now I see why there are so many bad review. Initially, I thought this was a great place to go, given that i'd just moved back to KC, and needed to find an MD. I like Dr Edwards. Had good conversations with her, and really only went to the doctor this last time, because I was in pain. I called the second day I was having trouble after having called into work the night before. Things weren't getting any better and, at that point, I was just trying to stay out of the ER. They couldn't get me in that day so I took an appointment for the next day. Things didn't get better so I kept the appointment with Dr Edwards. She seemed okay at the time and prescribed a med to help with my pain and to help with the specific issue. I asked her, on that day, for a note about why I had been off work, and she kind of avoided the question stating the med should work, and I should be able to go back to work that night. Well, it kind of worked, but had some side effects that made it difficult to go back to work and, besides that, I was still in a lot of pain. So, I called back and asked about getting a note for the three days I'd been off. My work hadn't asked for it but I wanted to have it, just in case. She refused to write the note. Would only write that they'd seen me in the office.. They did an X-ray in the office, and it identified part of the problem. I RARELY go to the doctor for anything.. I am a nurse and, well.. we traditionally just wait until we are dying to go. I wasn't seeking drugs. I wasn't TRYiNG to get a note for work because I just wanted to be off. I was in so much pain, that my sister was threatening to force me to go to the ER...and I was in tears. This kind of smacks of accusations, of them having the assumption that I am either seeking, or lying about my condition and time off from work. This is unacceptable. I also told the doctor that I was horribly depressed and, on more than one occasion, she blew it off. I will not return. read more

This place was absolutely horrible. I will never step foot in this place ever again. My husband and I went in to try and establish care with a one of the Drs and walked out of here feeling worse about ourselves than we went in. I know my health is bad hints why I am there. My family and I (total of 5 of us) have been patients of Dr. Wagner for many many years, following her around to when and wherever her practice of medicine would move to. There have been less than desirable to put it mildly office staff at the different locations she has moved to, but this one, Encompass, Independence is honestly no words to describe the unprofessional, uncaring, mean, rudeness that we have experienced every single time we have either had to call in or go to the office. We will be moving to another doctor's office. Dr. Wagner you are too good to be at this location. The treatment that we receive from your office staff, most recent rudeness has occurred from Amy and Bri. My daughter is out of town, and has history of UTI's just as I did, and had called to request an antibiotic be called in just enough to put her out of pain and to ease the infection until she can get back into town and make an appointment. First of all the receptionist Amy (that she actually spelled it out A- M - Y and informed my daughter that it was a 2 syllable name....being extremely rude and a complete you know what) told her that no they cannot call in prescriptions. We asked for the office manager Amy and Brit said there was no one in charge there. I said is there not a Dr. there, she said NO there are no patients here, so Dr. Gunn left and will be back later. I asked her to let me leave a message with the office manager, a nurse, or a doctor and she said that no one answers voicemails on weekends. I told her to get a message to Dr. Gunn to return my call. She acted like she wrote my information down, but I highly doubt I get a call back. This is so unprofessional, inhumane to make a patient suffer and at risk for serious infection to set in, and just wrong. Is this really what you want, Encompass, to run your long term patients off, to not be welcome to new patients and to have a reputation of a mean, unprofessional, rude office staff? It's not like we are requesting pain killers or muscle relaxers or some addicting medication, we need a few antibiotics to help with her UTI that has occurred while she is out of town with no other option. This is not the first, second, or third time we have been treated like this. We will be moving immediately away from this office and I would highly recommend no one else go here unless you do not care how you are treated. We are sorry, Dr. Wagner, but we cannot take this treatment any longer, nor should we have to. I will be posting our experience everywhere I can find to post. I could write a book on all that Amy and Brit said and how rude they were, but there is not enough space to go on and on. They must be extremely unhappy, pathetic human beings to treat their patients like this. It's so gross and wrong how they acted. read more

Terrible customer service. We were unable to get an appointment for our son on the day requested and called another clinic. The Encompass receptionist called later and said she could get us in the next day. I told her we didn't need the appointment but a week later we received a $25 no-show charge. When I called to dispute the charges they refused to listen and would not reverse the charges. There are too many good clinics to deal with people like this. AVOID and go to a clinic who cares about their patients. read more
