I would encourage readers to look at the 6 reviews Yelp has chosen not to show but which you can access below. They are all very positive. It's a shame that the only 2 public reviews are negative. My wife and I have used Computer Worx on several occasions over a number of years and have always been satisfied. We have brought our laptops into the shop and have had Chuck out to our house on 2 other occasions. We have found Chuck to be very professional, an expert at what he does, honest and fair. We feel his charges are reasonable and, on the occasions he has come to our house, he has rounded the time downward. On an occasion when I brought my older backup computer in, he told me he could reinstall the operating system (which was out of date and had become corrupted) for a nominal charge but felt I'd do better putting that money towards buying a new machine. He did not charge me for that assessment. I feel we are lucky to have such a good computer resource in our Old Metairie neighborhood. read more

I have gone to Computer Worx for work on 2 computers. I was completely satisfied. I have called with computer related questions and was helped without hesitation. I was given advise on a laptop purchase, that was not being purchased from them, just because they are helpful people. I will always go back for service there and highly recommend them. Went back yesterday for assistance. I love the laptop they suggested I for me by email ( no charge to assist). I purchased an external DVD player at Best Buy last week but had trouble using it. I went in to Computer Worx for help and Jacob walked me thru the problem as well as cleaned out some factory installed things I didn't need. When I had an older computer that wasn't working they fixed it and now they give assistance as needed with my new equipment. Great place. read more

Don't take your computer here to get repaired. My laptop froze up and I couldn't log into Windows. It no longer recognized my username and password. This place charged me $20 up front to inspect it. Days later they tell me the problem is the hard drive is broken and it needs another one. Cost...$296. And they couldn't promise to retrieve my files from the old drive. That would be an additional hourly charge to see if that could be done. Exasperated I left thinking a new laptop would be cheaper. My son has a "techie" friend and he suggested we take the hard drive out of the computer and let his friend look at it. A few days later, the techie friend said there was nothing wrong with the drive and he copied all the files easily into a flash drive. read more

Stay away from computer worx. Horrible customer service. I brought my computer into his store to get a virus removed as I am a musician and was afraid of losing my music. My computer wasn't running properly The owner Chuck scheduled an appointment with me at his store and he failed to show without even a cancellation call. I gave him another chance the next week and he did the same thing. Couldn't get him to call me back after 3 voicemails. After I finally talked to him he gave me an excuse that he was very busy. I went in to the store the next day to pick up my computer to bring someplace else and what do you know he was out of the offfice with only the lady working the desk. She stated they have been having this problem with other clients. read more

Absolutely horrible, I am 4 months pregnant and walked in to get a USB port, they wanted over $60 so I put the 2 ports back and walked out, as I got to my car the employee came running after me accusing me of stealing and tried to grab me and kept yelling at me to bring back the other port now and I needed to get back inside, I went back inside with the employee and pointed to the shelf where all were located and he said that he didn't see it behind there. I called back to get the owners info when I left and he would not release the info, hours go by with no phone call back, it was not until I called back and said my attorney would be in touch that, the "owner" called back and said if I felt assaulted I should have called the police. This place needs to be shut down. read more

A few years ago I took my laptop to this shop to get fixed and the man was incredibly helpful. I went to him several times and was very satisfied with the service. I moved away for a while and recently moved back, so when my new(ish) laptop started acting up, I was confident in my decision to bring it here. I'm sorry to say that was a mistake. My laptop had a problem where it would suddenly stop recognizing the keyboard and trackpad after about 10 minutes of use. After dealing with it for a couple of weeks, I finally decided to bring it in. They kept it for 2 days, charged me $130 for "discharging the motherboard", and then told me it was "fixed". When I brought it home, after 10 minutes, it did the same thing. So I brought it back. The guy came out and kept insisting that it was a motherboard issue and that it would cost me more than the laptop was worth to fix it. Then he "discharged the motherboard" for me again. He turned it off. Took out the battery. Pressed the power button a couple of times. And then turned it back on. He charged me $130 to turn it on and off again. That's how he "fixed" it. Frustrated, I left the store. When I went home, I used my work laptop to research the problem. Turns out it was driver issue with the laptop and the upgrade to Windows 10. Installed new drivers and the problem is solved. I had enough confidence in the shop that I didn't spend too much time researching the issue before I brought it in, but this experience proves that the tech guy didn't spend any time at ALL looking into the problem. I asked where the other guy went and apparently he's the owner and he opened another store in the Clearview area. I wonder if he would have handled it differently. I am VERY disappointed with this experience and I would not recommend them. read more

At this point, I would give this business a NEGATIVE STAR if they had one on this website !!! I brought my brand new laptop in on Monday for a very simple data recovery of one specific folder deleted in error and I keep getting jerked around by the "tech" named JEFF ... First he says almost all was retrieved, then has to do a "deep scan" to retrieve the rest, now it's Wednesday late afternoon and still no computer ... And if I didn't call every morning & afternoon, they would never even have called !!! When asking about the owner Charles "Chuck" he's conveniently never in ... I think they're holding my laptop hostage cuz they can't retrieve the data ... Supposedly, it cost $175 to do this retrieval but am not to be charged if they can't retrieve the files ... I'll gladly update this review later but right now I wish I had read the other reviews before taking my computer here ! (Ugh, I passed the name & number on to a friend that I now need to explain not to go here!) read more
