I brought my iPhone to Computer Village to have the battery replaced after it dropped into the 70% range. I paid in advance, as required by their store policy, and left the phone with them overnight. The next day, I received a call from a staff member named Pete, who told me they couldn't complete the battery replacement because one of the screws was stripped. When I picked up the phone and examined it myself, I found the left screw completely stripped with visible fresh tool marks--clear signs it had been recently damaged. I immediately called the store to ask how this had happened. Instead of acknowledging the issue, they insisted the phone was already in that condition when I brought it in. That's simply not true. I purchased this phone brand new and have never had it opened or worked on before this visit. There's no way that kind of damage existed beforehand. The staff at Computer Village refused to take any responsibility for the damage they caused, leaving me with a phone they not only didn't fix, but actually made worse. I had a wonderful experience with Brian. He corrected a "glitch" in my Google account that prevented me from sending out images through the mail option. He was super nice, patient and extremely knowledgeable about EVERYTHING in the Apple "ecosphere". I worked with Brian for 2 hours and it was money well spent! He helped with with several things on my 2014 iMac & new MacBook Air & my iPhone 16e !!! He took the time to explain everything clearly. The rate for one-on-one tech support in Northern California is $115.00 - $150.00 per hour ! Computer Village charges only $75.00 per hour ! I plan on coming back for more "training" and I will definitely be purchasing my new iMac desktop here. Highly recommended ! read more

I made an appointment THROUGH the Apple website to get my iPhone 6S' battery replaced for the promotional price of $29. I got a confirmation for the appointment which was a week later. My fiancé took the phone at the time of the appointment, and the worker told him that the appointment I made through the Apple website was only for a diagnostic, not to get the battery replaced. And that they didn't have any batteries for the 6S in stock and that it would be at least a month to get hem back in stock. They also told him that they would charge an extra $50 or so for labor in addition to the $29. I was honestly pretty upset they wasted our time like that. The appointment I made, WAS NOT for a diagnostic; it was for a repair. And the extra $50 was outrageous. That afternoon when I got my phone back, I saw an email from the Computer Village that was sent 10 minutes before the appointment saying that the appointment wasn't for a battery replacement. They wasted our time. They should have sent an email as soon as the appointment was made. Fortunately I went out of town the week after and was able to make an appointment through a reliable service provider. I made the appointment using the Apple website again. I didn't need to get a diagnostic for a battery replacement, nor did I have to wait weeks for it. They only charged $29 + tax, and they were done in an hour. read more

If you need anything fixed, save your money and go straight to Apple. They charged me $300 just to tell me they can't do anything about my laptop and I'd have to pay to send it to Apple so that Apple could fix it. Non-refundable when they didn't do ANYTHING. I wish I had went straight to Apple online. They also only offered me $50 for a $2,600 laptop. What a deal! Do not go here. read more

Called to see if I could get my iPhone fixed. They explained what to do and how much it would cost. Great, that helped me prepare. Took time off of work to go drop my phone off. Got there and they said they didn't have the part to fix my phone and it would be 5-7 business days. It would have been great to know that BEFORE I went there. Unfortunately, "rude, condescending, and patronizing" still seem to be the standard operating procedure at Computer Village. Even in the most basic level of informational exchange, the staff I interacted with today managed to be completely obnoxious and full-of-themselves. Among other things, they insisted to me that the information I was verifying was in the email they sent me. When I shared that I had not received an email, the guy rolled his eyes, shrugged his shoulders and said "Yeah you did. Check your spam folder". When I further explained that I *knew* that no one had sent me an email because no one from there had ever asked for my email address, he rolled his eyes again and offered an attitude-laden "Sorry, then." Unbelievable. It has been years since I set foot in that store, and based on this interaction I know better than to ever make that mistake again! read more

After having my phone repaired (iPhone 4S) and paying their exorbitant prices ($140 for a cracked screen, $40 more for an inoperable volume button) and they don't even use authentic apple parts. They managed to break my microphone, thereby making my phone a useless brick. I work Mon- Fri matching their exact hours, when I was finally able to come back on Saturday, I was told their repairman had already gone home for the weekend, and that I would have to come back on Monday. I then go right back into the cycle of I have work. So I will now be forced to go another week with a phone that doesn't work, all because of their shoddy maintenance. I would recommend trying to find another place in town that can fix a phone, because with this places prices, and customer service, it is more problem than its worth. read more

I had my I phone die in its sleep recently and took it in to Computer Village. Randy was very sweet and helpful. Made sure I left with a reliable loaner and he spent a long time making sure my stuff was transferred over and everything was set to go. I also dealt with Pete a few times, I went into the store because I had too much going on the loaner phone so Pete very patiently wiped it and only loaded my phone numbers then I was checking in with him several times waiting for updates about repairs. they had to send my phone to the apple to get it fixed or repaired and there was a mishap on Apple's end but Jim the manager stayed with it and was very kind and professional with me. The other guy I dealt with was Nathan and he was very nice and tried really hard to do a good job. If I'm ever in Rapid City again and need computer or phone help I would totally go see these guys. Technology unfortunately is expensive and sometimes frustrating to deal with but I believe these guys really do try to do a good business. It's sad that the only people that take time to write something are the ones with the worst things to say. read more

Bought my 5th computer here recently, including the data transfer service. It all went pretty well initially but I had some issues that I tried to follow up on later. When I did, the negative attitude I discovered that permeates this store was palpable. It didn't use to be that way, but things have changed there. Several individual employees were quite helpful but even they appeared to be noticeably uncomfortable in the environment there. Other employees spent more time telling you about their supposed extensive qualifications instead of demonstrating them. I was surprised at how often I heard the phrase, "Mmm, I'm not really sure. I've never seen that before." Even though they knew I had issues after calling them and describing them on the phone, there was no follow-up, no checking back to ensure everything I had called about was resolved (which it was not. I finally resolved them myself through extensive research on the net.). It's kind of like, "Hey, we're Mac and we don't have to provide good customer service." I would have expected more as a long-time, repeat customer and after having spent just under $3,000. As I said, I bought both my 5th computer here, but I'm quite sure it will also be my last. read more

I went in with a broken MacBook and the person helping me, Pete, was so mean and rude to me. Every time i asked a question he would roll his eyes at me and look disgusted. There was no one else there in the store waiting to get help. And I wasn't asking ridiculous questions but questions about price and policy. Things I needed to know the answer on. He would barely talk talk to me. I called and spoke with the owner (he said he was the owner) and let him know but he hardly seemed concerned. I'm calling Apple to report this as well. read more

I read the other posts and wonder if these people have been at the wrong store. I have used Computer Village in Rapid City for years from buying products, getting repairs, and taking many computer lessons in making videos, etc. which have been priceless! The staff in sales and service have never been anything but efficient and polite and have often saved me money with their suggestions. You get what you pay for and I expect and get the best at this store and from the staff. read more
