Highly disappointed in the service! Greg was trying to say it would cost $100.00 to reset my mom's Mac password..... Mind you I purchased this Mac from him a year ago. He emphasized the amount of time it will take to reset the password etc. Of course I didn't buy his reasoning. Well I took the computer down the road and within 2 minutes the password was reset and I was only charged 10.00!! Greg you should be ashamed of yourself! Times are hard but not that hard!! If they had zero to report I would have given that. Called my computer wouldn't start. Greg came to my house & picked the computer up, next day the computer was fried (not fixable) what I had 24" touch screen. 1 TB just a couple yrs old. Just so happen to have a computer for sale (Dell) same as mine, only 1 1/2 yrs old, 1 TB. Oops 128 gb. Could put in 2 TB for $79.00 didn't tell me he would charge $100.00 to install. What I received was 7 yr old computer, 22 inch screen. That would last several years. Happened in March, July will not work. Ended up being charged $600.00 for a piece of crap. Walked in searching for a used computer charger. First, Greg the owner of the shop told me that the port to my charger was broken and he could replace it for a fee. In fact, he insisted that the port was broken and that my charger had "broken off" inside of it. It wasn't until I brought my old, non-functional charger into the store and showed Greg that it still fits that he decided to change his mind about it. He then proceeded to find a charger that worked on the computer, WEDGING it into the port to make it fit before turning it on and telling me how lucky I was that he found a workable charger. Adding insult to injury, he proceeds to tell me that he'll sell me the "genuine" charger for WAY more than its actually worth. I said, "Sure, let me go get my wallet." I got in the car, left, and found someone else selling PC chargers for 1/2 the price. Here's the thing: if I didn't know anything about computers, I would have been led to believe that a problem existed with my computer that didn't actually exist. The charging port wasn't broken. Either he knew the port was fine and just wanted to make a buck, or he legitimately thought it was broken and was about to charge me for something I didn't need. Whether malice or ignorance, in either case I am genuinely left to wonder why he is running a computer repair shop. Moreover, if he is willing to sell a computer charger (and the wrong fit, by the way) for the price he was willing to sell it, I can only imagine that his other repair estimates are equally astronomical. This is possibly one of the worst experiences I have had as a customer with a small business in recent memory. EDIT, 4/3/2021: Since writing my review, I have received several different edited responses from the owner. Greg, you know when you change your response each time, I get an email about it, right? So I have all of the different responses you've sent me with each edit. Here's your current one, as of 11:30AM, 4/3/21: "100 % Fake Review. If $35 for a authentic Toshiba charger is too much then go elsewhere. We strive to be fair with everyone and we wish you the best. If no issue was present why did you go by a Pc Repair shop in the first place." Here's the one you sent me on 3/30/21 at 8:45AM: "This review is from a competitor that is small in nature and so much wants to make a name for his self.. Sir I hope you rest good at night because a 3 page essay over a $50 dollar authentic Toshiba charger is a waste of time for most folks. How many customers write a review over a $50 charger. Besides if you got mad over the price go elsewhere and leave it at that. Tell my competitor we said hello." So was it $50 or $35? I can't help but notice that your price estimate keeps dropping with each new edit. (Interestingly, neither of these two prices are the ones you quoted me. You said $65.) Also, "%100 fake review"? Feels like someone is projecting a little bit considering how many glowing reviews you've received since I left mine. All of those 5/5 reviews are from new users who have only left one Google review - with your shop. Weird coincidence, I guess. Folks, let me reiterate: stay away from this place. My computer immediately powered off in the morning and thought it might be the Battery or PSU unit. This place refused to try a new cord, wanted $100 diagnostic fee and tried to talk me into buying one of their laptops by telling me my computer was too old and maybe the mother board was corrupted or the CPU blah, blah, blah. The guy is a real fast talker. At any rate I ran to the Tech Store (formerly known as Computer Clinic) on Laurens Rd. which charges no diagnostic fee and got a new power cord which solved the problem in minutes. read more

When you drop off computer you'll be asked to sign more paperwork than req'd for hospital surgery...but it's all for their protection, not yours. Then they ccharge $75...which I assumed was towards the total cost. NOT SO! A guy called me THREE times to tell me he was 'working on it; but, had not info. The FOURTH call was to tell me problem and cost to replace parts. 2 parts and labor added up to about $175...which I approved. The next day $222 was charged over and above the $75. Nearly 2x what was quoted. When I came to pick up computer, the guy denied quoting the prices he did. My advice if you wanna use this place, GET IT IN WRITING...and be aware, they use the initial credit card payment to be able to OVERCHARGE the actual repair. read more

There is a built in bias in these reviews, as I noticed where this business was reviewed elsewhere. Either someone gets five stars because their service is something to rave about, or one star because someone got ripped off. I got ripped off. Most people don't have the incentive to write a review for expected adequate service. As a professor who had to give out grades, I am reluctant to flunk anyone who at least tried hard. Greg tried hard. He just didn't succeed. Also he was personable and friendly. He appeared to be bending over backwards to help me, saying he was swamped with customers but could call me at seven in the evening after normal hours, to help me remotely, meaning he would do everything via Teambuilder, so he wouldn't have to come to my house. Problem was, he insisted my versions of Teambuilder were too old to use, so he set me up with new ones. This took about an hour as we had to work on two laptop computers. Here was the problem: After leasing a new router from Spectrum, to replace one that died, I lost all Wifi connection so I couldn't use my printer. After several days a Spectrum guy came out and worked for three hours before he figured out how to give me TV service with new router. The Spectrum guy said he didn't know how to set up Wifi for my printer. This is why I called Greg. To make a long story shorter, Greg couldn't figure out how to do it either, after trying for over two hours. He kept encouraging me to be patient, as he was sure he could do it. But he couldn't. The best he could do was suggest I use a USB cable on only one laptop. It was late, and I was wore out. When he charged me $275 I simply gave him my card number. Next day, when the printer didn't work, I realized I was ripped off. My future son-in-law got the printer working, but without Wifi. I called back and told him I appreciated his effort, but I was paying for results, not just his time. He argued and mentioned he had cleaned one computer of a lot of junk to improve efficiency. This was true, but I called him to get Wifi service. He blamed me saying my like-new printer was too dated to be compatible with the router. I asked him to at least give me a $50 discount. He promised to get back to me. He didn't. I called again. He promised to get back with me again. He didn't. I guess he figures he has too much business to worry about giving back $50 just to satisfy one customer. So I suggest you do him a favor and don't give him any more business. read more

I wish I had not been pressed for time trying to do this between work hours because I could have saved myself some time and money. So this past weekend I was having issues with a computer that I built with it posting but restarting shortly after. After working on it all weekend I decided to take it by this shop since the original one across the street was not open. There was another male customer in front of me and only one person working behind the counter at about 10:15 AM. When the gentleman leaves I take my desktop up to the counter and tell Greg, the owner, that I am having issues and he immediately interrupts me asking if it was bitlocker or security lock out issues. I tell him no that I built this computer this weekend and that it post but will reset in a short amount of time. He follows up asking if I was the one who built it even though I had just told him that. I continue to explain that I was troubleshooting it all weekend and that I had to uninstall windows 11 pro because it would not download a cumulative microsoft update and reinstall windows 11 home using the media creation tool for it to run a bit more stable. He once again asked if I was the one who built this which at this point I figure he is asking me the lines of questions to see if the desktop was indeed mine. He then ask me where my backplate (i/o shield) which was still in my pocket in the manufactures plastic which I pull out and place on top of the PC. I tell him that I don't think it is a software issue, or a CPU issue (due to the temps, voltage, and watts being shown) but that I wanted to make sure it wasn't the motherboard before I am out of my return period. He asked me if I put thermal paste on the CPU to which I said yes, then he asked me how much did I put on there because it could have been too much. I tell him this isn't my first build and I am really just making sure that the motherboard is bad before the expiration date. He ask me how much I paid for everything and at this point I am thinking do I need to show this guy receipts or something. So he tells me to fill out the form and write down the issues that I have just explained to him. He then attempts to what seemed like, quiz me on a basic printer repair solution, I am assuming to gauge my knowledge While I am filling it out I asked him how much the diagnostic fee would be and he tells me $150.00. I tell him that his price is ridiculously high to just check out the motherboard and across the street was $90 bucks not to mention that I had TotalTech Membership with geek squad but I didn't trust their process and The Tech Store that I usually go to in Simpsonville does not charge for any kind of diagnostics(because of this I typically tip generously). He just looks at me and points at a sign best in the upstate award and states that there is a reason that they have that. Once again, time is not on my side and I go ahead and prepare to pay the extra $60 on what I was expecting to spend. He tells me he needs $100 of the $150 upfront and his gaming guy works on $5k and $10k systems will be in shortly and give me a call in a few hours. I just thought it was odd that the person in front of me wasn't being charged a deposit for services upfront. I did not get a call from the gaming tech Neal until 12:13 pm the next day. He tries to prepare me for bad news stating that he is just going to rip the band aid off and I say it's the motherboard and he says yes. I tell him it's what I was expecting I just wanted the confirmation. I get there and he tells me he had it just sitting back there running and the problem progressed the longer and longer that he kept it running. He also was intrigued with the airflow and decided to start switching intakes and exhaust fans to see if it affected "airflow" not the issue. This wasn't a problem for me because I knew it was a case he probably rarely comes across. I sit there with him for about 45 mins and we are talking about different parts and performance possibilities, he was great to talk to and very knowledgeable. I tell him I wasn't worried because 1.) I could still return the motherboard to the retailer for a return or 2.) The motherboard is still under manufacturer's warranty. Because of this the owner charges me another $100.00 saying Neal worked on it for like 8 hrs even though Neal said he didn't look at the motherboard(which is what I initially said the problem would be at) until the end of the day which is where he noticed a burned out spot in the motherboard that was a manufacture's defect. I was going to tip Neal $40 but only did $15 since I was scammed $200 by Greg. Do yourself a favor and Google The Tech Store and go there for great service and a free diagnostics? read more

Shyster, and I'm not a liar. Paid $105 for black screen repair got NOTHING but excuses & stolen $.

I'm an experienced computer nerd who's 19. I go to this guy's place for a solution for my computer's problem which I was not able to diagnose. He talks so much more about other customers than about my problem with my computers'. He constantly referred to his 26 years of experience and 45 5-star reviews on his site. The store is extremely outdated and filled with obsolete computer parts which they were trying to sell. There was no real workspace for a proper computer diagnosing, no clean table, no open workspace, no lighting setup for taking a computer apart. So I need this guy to diagnose my problem... I'm someone who's very experienced with computer building and they handled computer parts in ways I wouldn't wish on anyone else. He tried inserting my RAM backwards and was forcing it in the wrong way. I said nothing assuming he knew what he was doing because of his "26 years of experience and 45 5-star ratings on his site." I knew this whole place was fishy and inadequate, but I was desperate for a diagnosis. So I left it overnight there and I was told that they would work on it overnight and I'd get a call the next day at 1. At this point I had left the store paying $35 for a "diagnosis test" which was literally turning the computer on and off and then taking the RAM out and putting it back in. (which was put in the wrong way) So I left it there and waited for a call the next day. 1oclock goes by, then 2 and 3. I end up calling him to ask what progress had been made. He said that they had about 20 customers ahead of me, which was a number picked out of thin air... very unprofessional, and he said that they would look at it before they closed that day, at 7. I go back to the shop at 6:30 because I knew that they weren't doing anything for it, and my computer had been sitting there for a day with no work getting done on it; wasting time... I get to the shop and he says that they've taken the CPU out and the PSU (power supply unit) out. Now at this point I know he's lying to my face. I've looked at the cables in the computer and I see that they haven't moved at all. If they had taken ANYTHING out, the cables would have surely moved. I don't let him know he's lying to my face so I just get my computer and leave. I wouldn't wish this kind of service on anyone. I feel badly for the customers who are inexperienced with computer technology and put their trust in this company's services. Don't waste your money. I took my monitor in for repair and asked what new ones cost. I was told $135. Several days and $125 later, I took it home. It would not work. I spent hours on the phone making sure I had it hooked up correctly and was ultimately told to bring it back in. I did. When it was hooked it up, I was told it was dead and was not going to work. I absolutely would not be given any sort of refund because I had authorized the work. I was also yelled at and treated rudely on the phone. I bought a new larger monitor for $89 and had no trouble installing it. read more
