I was suddenly diagnosed with moderate to severe arthritis in my neck, and my doctor recommended…read morephysical therapy. He suggested a few places, but I did my research and felt that A Step Ahead Physical Therapy was the place for me. Why? Because for one, their motto is Move well, Move often, Be Well... which I believe is the key to a successful third stage of life. Secondly, according to their website, the therapist gives you their complete attention throughout each appointment. While they may have student observers, they do not use students to conduct PT. I found all these things to be true - it's not just a line on a website. Each and every time, I was greeted warmly by the front desk staff. The facilities were always immaculate and I noticed that as soon as someone used a room, a massage table or a piece of equipment, someone came along behind them to wipe everything down. The therapists are top-notch, experienced, and many with doctoral degrees in PT. I initially began working with Jim Lewis, but when the timing of my schedule became more complicated, I transitioned to David Smelser. Each of the therapists was very good, and they collaborated with each other about my treatment. The treatments focused on exercised that would help my neck, and much of the time of each visit was focused on making sure I was doing each exercise properly. The exercises are such that they can be done at home, and the therapists encouraged me to do so. They always answered my questions clearly and completely. It took about 6 weeks for me to feel back to normal and able to resume my previous activities, but I feel great. I realize that these exercises are key to my good health, so I continue to do them daily (it only takes 10 or 15 minutes). That has lead me to slowly adding more full-body exercises to keep me in shape. I highly recommend A Step Ahead Physical Therapy .

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD THERE! This place lacks effectiveness! The owners are only about their money…read moreand will not communicate with you outside of email. The 2 years I was there, we did not receive parent training. This is my first go round with autism and I did not know that parent training is something we were supposed to receive. The environment is sterile looking and the kids do not go outside. One day I brought my son inside and the therapist took him to the bathroom and if it wasn't for me my kid would have sat in another kids urine. My sons classroom was dirty and riddled with chips. These were the chips he ate the day prior. My son's underwear from the day prior were thrown on the floor and his snacks were in the bathroom. Jen, of of the owners, was sooo excited to tell me how my son was doing such an amazing job, come to find out she got my son mixed up with the other black kid there. I told the other owner shauna that my son's schedule needed to change to accommodate PT. She asks me why does he need PT? She thinks he's fine. The just incorporated circle time. Also, my son should have been getting 40 hours a week - Shauna could never give a clear reason why he did not get 40 hours. My son was never offer to go to the other location that has more verbal kids. My son started mimics sounds of the other children that could not get verbalize their needs. The had a lice outbreak 2 different times in two consecutive weeks. I did not get an email from the owner the first time-I found out through a person on staff. Come to find out, the kid gave it to the therapist and the therapist without know gave went to the other location. They never shut down the center to clean it. Instead, they made the therapist check for lice. When I told the owner I was keeping him out because I do not want my child to get lices, she in an around about way suggests me to put gel in my sons hair. They are both tone deaf and unyielding-the should not be owners if they don't want to deal with parents. They play favorites and do not help all parents. I have had to assist other parents crying in the parking lot due to money troubles. There was an incident when a therapist almost backed his car into a child. They did not send out a notice to parents about the dangers of leaving their children unattended. This school says it's a private school but they are not. They hoard information and are not friendly.
