Enter Dr. Andrew Morchower. I was googling "best pain management doctors in Dallas" and his name came up. I remembered seeing him clear back in 2019. He made an impression then and really listened, went the extra mile for me and the only reason I changed was just I wound up with somebody closer to me. So I went back today and it was even better than 2019. Doctor's that care about their patients truly and think outside the box without gaslighting the patient are pretty rare. They don't look at your story and automatically assume anything... they take the time in the visit to really listen to you and really try to put it together. It wasn't a 10 minute visit. I am medically complicated and I appreciate the vast amount of time given. He ran late, but they didn't realize I was a new patient pretty much. And honestly, I would wait hours for this kind of care. It just doesn't matter to me. So I am very grateful that I have found my new pain management home. Pain management is an integrate part of my team and I am absolutely convinced that Dr. Morchower will bring it all. Pain isn't a perfect process and patients can be difficult, but I'm convinced my treatment will be optimized here and I am over the moon to reconnect. My husband's back has caused him chronic pain after a lifetime of working and playing hard. His ridiculously high pain tolerance and overall fervent belief that Pennsylvania country boys "just rub some dirt on it" have taken their toll. Fifty years of playing ice hockey, football, wrestling, snow skiing, more ice hockey, a few car accidents, and whatever other extreme sport he could get his hands on wore away at his body. And then came The Great Texas Freeze during the week of Valentine's Day, 2021. He slipped on black ice and fell. Hard. All 280lbs of him. On the cement. Even the birds stopped chirping at the sound of his resounding crack. Even though Texas woke up after COVID-19 (blah!), we just couldn't get him to a good doctor. And honestly, we didn't know how badly he was hurt until we saw the X-rays taken at a chiropractor's office. Wow! We tried his primary care physician first, who promptly sent us to that chiropractor, who sent us to a physical therapist, who recommended acupuncture, who insisted it was vitamin insufficiencies, and on and on. All this time, my husband and I prayed for healing, for guidance, and, after the first two years, for a miracle. We researched Dallas-area Spine Doctors and Pain Management Doctors and went... to 3 of DFW's "Top" doctors for more opinions. Each time, we'd jump through their hoops, the insurance hoops, the pharmacy hoops, and we never gave up praying. One after the next, they were just NEVER able to give my husband one BIT of pain relief! Joe was in so much pain, and I was exhausted trying to help him manage through life. I put his socks on for him, got up to get him anything he needed, bought three different (super expensive mattresses) trying to find him relief, and oh so many other things living with his heart-crushing back pain. We're moving to Portugal and I'm going to miss the level of care I've received the past 7 years! His staff is fantastic as well! Have a problem, talk with his office manager! She can fix almost anything. This office has supported me through the billions of pharmacy issues filling my meds and Dr Maxey is quick to investigate additional pain issues! I asked to switch to a newer medication (Nucynta) years ago and he agreed and it literally changed my life! If you have joint/bone pain and neuropathy, ask him about it! I couldn't live the life I have now without his support. I'm 51 with three kids under 13 and he keeps me mobile more than any other pain physician ever did! When I had an issue with tolerance creeping up, he was quick to address it. When I wanted to move to an ER formulation, he was quick to assist. I've already had one hip replaced and thought I was having increased hip pain, he identified it was an issue with my pelvis and treated that quickly. When my knee started hurting and giving out, he quickly ordered imaging. He doesn't REQUIRE injection procedures that are not FDA approved, but he does offer them! They have been fantastic for my pelvic pain! When I'm feeling I need maintenance, I just mention it and we schedule it! Seriously, this is the doctor you see for pain and can speak openly about your pain and your medications! He is willing to try different medications until you find what works best for you! He has been able to keep my pain under control without large increases in my medications. I feel like I'm treated as an individual and when I go in for maintenance meds refills, it's quick and easy. I submit my urine, see him or his NP and I'm in and out quickly without a big process. When I have a new pain complaint, he addresses it immediately. When I had to go to the hospital for severe acute stomach pain, I just called his after-hours number to have him called and he was available to consult with the ER doctor (which wasn't necessary, but I did as a precaution) and then I discussed it with him at my follow-up visit. He knows that those of us being treated for chronic pain sometimes need a different medication for acute pain. When I broke a tooth and couldn't get in with my dentist for a few days (and my usual pain medication wasn't touching the acute pain) he quickly called me in a different temporary medication to help with the mouth pain (and it worked!). I can't say anything bad about Dr Maxey and his care! If you have a choice in pain management doctors, you can't go wrong with Dr Maxey!

I am a wimp when it comes to needles…read more Don't tell me you're going to poke me with a needle. Don't show me a needle. Don't use the word "Needle" and my name or any of my body parts in the same sentence. Dr. Fraizer can stick a needle in my spine anytime it's necessary. That's how good he is. I've had trouble with my neck for years but always figured it was stress and therefore just tight muscles, get a massage, it will go away (which it never did but I chalked that up to I'm a wimp for deep tissue massage so I rarely did the massage thing). Anyway, when my right hand started going numb and falling asleep every time I lay down ... and not just that "my hand's asleep tingling" type tingling, but such a deep "sleep" that it was very painful. To the point of waking me up every half hour and having to get up to stop the tingle. When I finally asked my family doctor about it, he sent me to Dr. Fraizer. After x-rays and MRI's, they found several issues with my spine and one of the problems is pinching of the nerves that run to my arms/hands. Solutions: Drugs. Surgery. Inject steroids to reduce the swelling that is causing the pinching. I can tell you that the mere mention of "...inject steroids in the cervical spine ..." made me want to imitate Eddie Murphey in Trading Places ("OMG! I can walk! It's a miracle!") as I was running out of his office. Dr, Fraizer assured me that I would NOT feel a thing. And this is a man true to his word. I did not feel a thing. I never saw the needle. I never felt the needle. And I can turn my neck to a degree that I haven't been able to for quite a while. My hands have only gone to sleep twice since the injection. And aside from the needle issue, Dr. Fraizer was friendly, professional and very thorough. He took the time to show me exactly what was going on, pointing out on both the x-rays and the MRI the areas that were damaged and that he was working on. Hopefully the injection will take care of the problem indefinitely and we won't get to the surgery phase. If that becomes necessary, however, I have no worries that Dr. Fraizer will do an excellent job! He deserves my first 5-star rating.

I tried to agree since they insisted I needed it, but it turns out I can find similar equipment for thousands less online that does the same thing just not as expensive. They could not justify why I had to have their equipment and if it really mattered who I bought it from. A line of credit was opened in my name for 3K to cover said equipment, of which I returned after minimal use and expressed I felt the equipment was faulty and the other was too painful to use; they still insisted I kept the equipment. I made it clear I couldn't afford it or be able to pay the line of credit down any time soon, and they still enforced it upon me. I've disputed this line of credit 3 or 4 times now. It's been nothing but a headache and unnecessary stress to someone whose health is hanging by a thread. I appreciate the Dr's heart and care, but the office manager can be quite rude and moody when she doesn't get her way, which is not okay or professional. I enjoyed working with the others, but it is not legal or ethical to enforce equipment on people and care that isn't affordable. If you really want to help people then why are you over charging for services and equipment?! I had to move out of state for many reasons, but fighting this line of credit they knew I couldn't afford or pay down due to being unemployed and disabled, but here I am still fighting with Care Credit and others to get my credit fixed; this dropped it 80 points btw. I've been building my credit for years and this one transaction destroyed it in one day. DO NOT let them force you into anything you can not afford! They should work with everyone despite income levels and not overcharge for equipment and services, no matter how much they help you, this is not okay. The Dr did confirm the diagnosis I've been seeking for 8 years and getting nowhere with and I'm very thankful for that! It's just the billing side and the manager's attitude that added unnecessary stress that's just uncalled for. Especially knowing your patient is slowly dying inside from severe nerve damage and unemployed due to medical conditions, why should they also have to deal with coming up with thousands of dollars for medical treatment? This is where I disagree with not only this office but anyone in the medical field who does the same.
