I am a long-time patient of Dr. Shin's for migraine care. He is a wonderful doctor and kind man. He takes time to listen to me and explains procedures and medications in detail but in words I can understand! I became his patient at a time where the only treatment for migraines were opioids. I called Dr. Shin's office every single day for weeks and left multiple messages both on the main line and their emergency line. I have never gotten a call back from anyone in the office - not just in response to these messages, but ever, for any reason. When I finally managed to get someone to pick up, the staff was unable to answer questions or provide any information at all. Dr. Shin himself is capricious and vague, doesn't listen, doesn't answer questions, and doesn't seem interested in actually treating anyone. I don't know who these other reviews saw, because the doctor I got wasted months of my time, didn't read my chart, couldn't answer anything about my case, imagined symptoms, and finally told me to just go to the emergency room and hung up on me. read more

Dr. Shin is a terrible doctor. I asked to be slowly taken off the opiate medication I was on and he prescribed another opiate. I wanted to reduce the medication I was on and totally eliminate it. He lectured me and berated me when I wanted to get off opiates. I am not taking them now and feel much better because of the side effects of the medication. They couldn't get my insurance confirmed so I paid cash. They said they would refund the money when the insurance paid and they kept the money and billed me for bogus charges. Several other patients in the office were hassles over money when I was a patient briefly. He also insisted I have injections when I had had 12 of them already and none worked. He insisted that I have injections because he had open appointments and refused to listen to me. You can tell there several fake reviews on Yelp for this doctor. Who writes a review like they are writing a resume? No one does, but the business themselves. Look at how many low number of reviews several of the people have written, all with fake accolades to the point of being unbelievable. I left and found someone else that wasn't so unethical. Dr. Shin was the pain mgt doctor my gen practicioner referred me to when I was diagnosed with AVN. I needed two hip replacements because my joints were dying. He sent me to Michael Taba, MD in Plano, TX. Dr. Taba tore apart my gluteus muscle while replacing my right hip. I was in horrible pain for two years. The month after my surgery, I tried to tell Dr. Shin that something was wrong, that the pain wasn't going away. He accused me of narcotic seeking behavior. I immidiately left his practice. I would not recommend Dr. Shin to my worst enemy. He is a problem. read more

I went in for treatment for a migraine that had become unbearable. When I made the appointment, Dr. Shin's office failed to inform me that I had a balance due that would require payment prior to treatment. It was a rather sizable amount and I could not afford to pay it all at once. Apparently, it had become late though I received any sort of bill in the mail and his billing staff had never called me. When I checked in for my appointment, no one said a word about the outstanding balance. It wasn't until I got into the treatment room that someone finally informed me that I would have to pay the bill in its entirety in order to receive treatment. So here I am, literally in so much pain I'm about to tear my head off and all Dr. Shin's office cares about is that I pay a bill I had absolutely no knowledge of. read more

I had my first visit with Dr. Shin today! Dr. Shin spent over 30 minutes with me and my husband learning about me and my history. He listened, asked questions, answered my questions and explained the next step in my treatment. He was very knowledgeable but did not "talk down" to us or act like I was an idiot because I said something "hurt". Not only did the doctor take an extraordinary amount of time going over various treatment methods, he took a genuine interest in my health. I think this might be one of the best doctors I've ever dealt with, because he genuinely seemed to care. After the facet injection, I had a notable decrease in pain which had been plaguing me since in an auto injury last year. I'm sure many doctors could have had the same result in pain decrease, but not every doctor would take the time to make me feel completely at ease. Doctor aside, the staff is phenomenal. I was dealing with a very complicated situation regarding insurance and scheduling, and had to keep calling to reschedule multiple times in one day.
