I had to find a second vet because my regular vet did not provide the services I needed for one of my cats. I had been to Complete Veterinary Care many years prior for an emergency visit under another vet (Dr. Vorhies) with a different cat. However, it seems the practice changed vets, so I researched Dr. Anacker and he came highly recommended. Dr. Anacker is calm and level-headed. He took me on as a new patient within a couple of days even though he was booked solid for two weeks. He also saw me every 7 to 10 days for several months to give antibiotic shots to my sick cat (and discuss other methods of treatment) even though we both knew my cat Stephen was never going to get well. He always listened carefully and never rushed me out the door. Several times he squeezed me in on the day I called even though he was booked solid. The office always responded in a timely manner and was very cordial. I was also able to provide updates via email. I am so thankful to him. He enabled me to have a few more months with my precious Stephen. I would definitely go back to him again without hesitation. read more

Honestly, I don't think there's a more compassionate vet out there, if there happens to be one, I'm still sticking with Dr. Anacker. We used to bring our pets to his previous office, which was closer to our home, but still travel to Lincoln Park when we need vet services. Yesterday, we had to put down our beloved lab, Dylan. Dr. Anacker had us come in at closing time so there would be less distractions for our dog, and therefore, less stress on him (and frankly us as well). The guy works so much, and for him to extend his workday for our comfort is astonishing, especially on a Saturday. The end for Dylan was exactly the way you would wish; peaceful and dignified. Our previous "end of life" encounter at the group he worked with, prior to making the decision to join Complete, was a much different experience. There, he didn't have the voice to be able to conduct these types of services on his terms, and although we were always happy bringing our pets to him, you truly see the real Dr. Anacker at his new office. I'm so happy that he decided to make this move and is now a business owner. He's an amazing man and truly cares about you, your needs and the needs of your pet. It's never easy to make a visit like we did yesterday, but seeing him take such excellent care of Dylan during his final moments is something that will ease the pain in your heart and assure you that you did the right thing, because you chose the right professional. We are always grateful for Dr. Anacker's opinion when it comes to taking care of our pets, but when you really need him in times like these, that's when you realize the true value of a good friend that just happens to be your veterinarian. Thank you so much Dr. Anacker, you'll never know how much we appreciate you and all you do for us. read more

I don't live in town but I stop by whenever I'm in New Jersey. These guys are great, it's hard to find a vet that cares about your animals as they do. It never feels like they are just trying to over sell you on stuff you don't need, they are honest and help you as much as they can. I couldn't recommend a vet more than these guys. Having lived in a ton of a states from hawaii to New Jersey I have never found anyone who cares as much as they do. I would give more than 5 stars if I could!!!!! Thank you so much complete veterinary care!!!! read more

Recommend 100%! Was referred here by a friend and we couldn't be more happier. Routine visits for our puppy are quick and easy. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Dr Vorhies cares about his patients and explains everything to the humans parent. I am so happy we take our dog here! read more

We have been taking our three dogs to Dr Mike Anaker since they were puppies at his old practice (11 years now!). He always answers all of our questions and takes exceptional care of our dogs. He's knows each of their issues and is so good with them. We are now making the 30 minute trip to Lincoln Park because that's how much we trust Dr Anaker. We highly recommend him and Dr Vorhies for all your veterinary needs! read more

I had heard great things about this vet clinic. Sadly, I decided to go shortly after they hired a new vet, Dr. Michael Anacker. After the appointment, it was apparent why his previous clinic let him go. Dr. Anacker examined my dog quickly, gave me the worst case scenario, and proceeded to tell me my dog was vicious and will need a muzzle next visit. I was in the exam room the entire time and nothing my dog did warranted that response. Since the appointment, my dog has been doing great and has gone back to being her normal self. If you book an appointment here and are paired with Dr. Michael Anacker, do you and your companion a favor and run for the hills. There are plenty of clinics around that do not hire Wal-Mart grads such as Dr. Anacker. *MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR ANYONE BUT DR. ANACKER* read more

I cannot say enough good things about both Dr. Vorhies and Dr. Anacker, who recently joined the practice, and their amazing staff. Aside from the extremely fair prices, both doctors are incredibly skilled, competent, and above all kind, gentle, and compassionate. Sadly, my dog had to be put down this past Monday, and I could not have asked for a better team to help me with this tragic decision. Dr. Anacker was so gentle and compassionate with my pup and thoroughly explained the procedure to me. When I needed time to process what was happening, he followed me to my car to make sure that I was ok. Dr. Vorhies also came in between other appointments to express his condolences and to say goodbye to my sweet boy. The staff are also incredible and extremely helpful. When the time comes to eventually adopt another pet, I will continue to go to Complete Veterinary Care for all of my pets' needs. read more

Dr. Vorhies is wonderful as is his staff. I cannot say enough great things about this office. My cat was losing weight, I was very worried. My regular vet couldn't fit us in. Dr. Vorhies was recommended by a friend at work so I called there. They saw her the same day and diagnosed her without breaking the bank. All my animals will be going here from now on. I love his compassion for the animals and his availability. read more

I love the entire staff at Complete Vet. We have a new puppy so it's really important for us to trust advice and with Dr Vorhies, I feel like we're in great hands. Not many people have seen corgis in our area but I feel we are in knowledgeable hands. Dr always takes time to ask and answer all of our questions and make sure our boy is at ease. We had our first shots and we didn't even squeek. Our first visit went well but I thought it was just luck, but we love coming back. Our pup got so much attention, soft voices and care during each of our visits. We are very well informed with brochures, insurance options. I really can't say enough nice things about the Dr and his staff. read more

I was lucky enough to get Dr. Vorheis at another vet clinic back in 2009. He moved a significant distance and had to find another vet. And another. And another. I thrilled to discover he opened his own practice within a reasonable driving distance. He is motivated by helping pets and their owners-NOT MONEY! Dr. Vorheis is willing to give advice over the phone and doesn't pressure you to make an office visit. If he tells you to come in, it's because it's necessary. I appreciate his calm and caring demeanor. There are plenty of vets closer, however, he is worth the drive. I can not recommend him highly enough! Diane R. read more

We have been bringing our dogs to Dr. Vorhies for the past five years. He has been caring and thoughtful and helped us through the final months when our 10 1/2 year old Havanese was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. He always made time for us, returned calls promptly, listened to our descriptions of her changing symptoms and adjusted her meds accordingly. Under his care she comfortably lasted longer than expected. He also helped us to understand when it was time to say goodbye. We were very unluckly in that our other Havanese became terminally ill two months later. We needed to have her seen quickly, took the first opening and saw Dr. Anacker. I can't say nicer things about him. He was equally diligent, compassionate and thoughtful about the treatment and care of our 13 year old dog who had a very aggressive oral cancer. He was very kind, as well as honest, with us. We will not hesitate to bring our next dog(s) to Complete Veterinary Care. The entire staff is terrific. read more

I normally don't write reviews but was sadden by the one review regarding Dr. Anaker. I have not been to this veterinary office but can tell you that my experiences with Dr. Anaker. He has been my veterinary doctor of choice for over 20 years, and have referred several friends and family who equally love Dr. Anaker. He has been the doctor for 3 of my dogs and can't say enough about him. He's compassionate, and spends as much time as needed for your pet and any questions you may have. Dr. Anaker is an amazing doctor and person who I highly recommend. read more

I went there with my cat which is my support and and they were aggressive with him for no reason. The vet was not honest with me too.

Recently adopted a cat and decided to go here based on the reviews, so glad we did! Dr Voohies is great, very professional and explains everything he is doing in a way you can understand. We brought our cat for a basic check up and were afraid he was going to be bouncing all over the place, I couldn't believe how calm our cat was when Dr Voorhies and his assistant checked on him. You can tell he loves what he does and takes pride in it. I will continue bringing our cat here even if we move out of town. Entire staff is great and service is excellent read more

Complete Veterinary Care is a Godsend for my family. It's close by and very reasonable for high quality vet care. Dr. Vorhies is a knowledgable vet with a great bedside manner. He explains everything to us and makes himself available on the phone for follow up when necessary. He is levelheaded and reasonable and has a very calming effect on me when I'm out of sorts because one of my dogs are sick. He takes a logical sensible approach and doesn't try to overcharge you for unnecessary things. He cares so much about his little patients and it shows. I believe one of my dogs would have passed we're it not for him. So lucky to have him as our vet. read more

My kitten had a very worrisome obstruction caused by a nasal polyp in her throat. Dr. Anacker successfully removed the large polyp. He was very attentive to my concerns and promptly returned my phone calls to answer questions before and after the surgery. I have been to Dr. Anaker at his old practice for years, he has seen 2 of my pets to the rainbow bridge and he is the sweetest man, who also happens to be an excellent vet. I will likely now travel 30 minutes to his new practice because he is worth it. I am very upset at the strong negative review. Sometimes owners are in denial of behavior neglects from their pets, and thats sad. As a groomer , i also know that for a dog to have to get muzzled they are pretty bad and will hurt themselves as well as others. I wish you luck tho, we all love our fur babies. read more

Dr. Vorhies is nothing short of amazing. He has been caring for our fur babies for a few years now and we have been amazed by how incredible he is. If you need anything at all he doesn't hesitate to pick up the phone and talk to you unlike most vets who say come in! Just for a check up fee. Ive called on weekends and off days and he has always answered and offered assistance. I have now referred many friends and family to Dr. Vorhies and I will continue to sing his praises. So happy we found him! read more

Doctor Vorhees is the best!! He is caring, knowledgable, and honest. I took my dog there several times and I am very happy with his care. He even calls you home the next day to find out how your pet is doing. I have called him even when they are closed, and he always personally takes the call and if needed, he would have you meet in his place even if the middle of a storm. You can tell he really likes what he does, and this is not just a business for him. The place is beautiful and extremely clean! They have coffee for the "parents" while they wait. The office staff is very friendly and accommodating. I am so glad to have a vet like Dr. Vorhees so close to home! read more

There's a reason why everyone who posted prior to me have been raving about the staff and Dr. Vorhies! My experience: I noticed some blood in my dog's urine and immediately took him to my local vet. The vet is very busy because it is located in a city, but it is walk-in based-no appointments. The doctor took x-rays and did the necessary routines, but also recommended that he get his shots that were due. She gave him his shots and asked that I schedule an appointment for surgery, if possible. I decided to get a second opinion from Dr. Vorhies because my cousin went there when her dog was diagnosed with bladder stones. Dr. Vorhies stated that my dog needed surgery right away due to the risk of bladder obstruction, especially in male dogs. Of course, Dr. Vorhies did not want to talk badly about the vet I just came from, but the nurse informed me that it was odd for the first vet to recommend shots since this was a pretty urgent situation. After a successful surgery, Dr. Vorhies gave me all the information I needed to care for my dog and told me what I should expect. He called the next day to follow-up, which most vets don't do, and reassured me that I could reach him any time if I had any concerns. Overall, I highly recommend Complete Veterinary Care because of the amazing staff who really know how to care for the animals and the animals' owners. read more

Doctor Vorhies is the best ever!!! Always answers in emergencies and gives the best advise of care for each situation.

This was originally posted in September 21, 2015, but for whatever reason Yelp marked it as "1 other review that is not currently recommended" so I'm posting it again. I spontaneously walked into Complete Veterinary Care in Lincoln Park recently (without an appointment) to ask some brief questions about my cat. The staff was very nice, and Dr. Vorhies came out from the back, introduced himself to me, and answered ALL of my questions. He even brought me into the back and spoke privately with me, wanting to know what was going on with my ailing cat who has cancer. He looked over the medicine I brought in that I had previously received from another vet in Fairfield. I had been disappointed with the service the clinic in Fairfield provided (assigning a different Vet to see my cat on 3 separate occasions - being told the vet I wanted was no longer working there; charging me for treatments that were never given; never returning an important call). I will not go back to that vet in Fairfield now that I know who Dr. Vorhies is. I would highly recommend Complete Veterinary Care/Dr. Vorhies . I wish I had known about him sooner. He was very knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate! He gave me more information than the prior vet I had. And all this without an appointment or charging me. He was very generous, caring, and very sympathetic, and let me know he could be reached in case of an emergency. At least I am feeling a little more comfort (since meeting Dr. Vorhies) during this sad time while I prepare for my cat's last days. Thank you Complete Veterinary Care. read more

I highly recommend you try this place because the attention the staff and Doctor gives is very good. The prices are reasonable and Dr Voorhies won't rip you off like other vet places I've been to. He understands you and your pet's needs. He provides the best care and advice for my aging dog. Dr Voorhies has a very kind heart and I can tell he truly loves what he does. Thank you Dr Voorhies for your love and dedication to animals. We are happy to have found you! read more

I really appreciate detail explanation and check up phone call after 2days later. Very kind and sweet.

I had the Flu and ran out of a RX food. My vet is 7 miles away and it was raining. I asked if they had her food and was told that the Dr was on phone and would call me back. 2 hours later the lady answering the phone asked if I was a client, I stated no but I was very I'll and that I would have my Dr call to ok RX. Lady said the Dr was on the phone still. 2 hours later I had to drive to my vet because they blocked my number and never called. All I was looking for was enough food to get by. 2 cans. I feel it was all about money. I explained I lived less then 1/ 10 of a mile away and due to my illness and her having no food. I figured they would sell it. It appears only clients are taken care of and no regard for animal or emergency circumstances. It's all above money to him. The food can be retrieved at Petco with a Rx but same circumstances occured. I wouldn't bring any animal to a Dr that shows no Empathy. He would've made money on the food. Poor excuse for a vet. read more

Dr. Vorhies is the absolute best. The staff are all extremely friendly and nice. Everyone was very informative and accommodating and my kitten Valentino is doing very well after surgery. It also helps a lot that they have great late night and weekend hours it makes things much easier so we don't have to rush around or leave work early. Overall extremely happy with our experience and would very highly recommend to anyone looking for a vet. read more

Great service from a doctor who really seems to care. Grateful we found him. He correctly diagnosed our dog's problem and helped us treat her. He even invited us back a couple of times to check out how she was recovering and didn't charge us. Glad to say that our lil dog made a full recovery, thank you Doctor! read more

I highly recommend Dr. Vorhies. We starting bringing our rescue dog Bailey to Complete Veterinary Care in 2016. Our old vet in Riverdale was ok but a bit far and not great hours. For two years we saw Dr. Vorhies when Bailey was relatively healthy (just some minor kidney issues) and were always very pleased with the routine care given by Dr. V and his staff. Then this past fall suddenly Bailey became very ill and we had to take him to the emergency hospital in Fairfield. While Bailey was in the hospital Dr. V called them, got reports and information and called us both in the evenings and on the weekend to make sure we understood what was happening. When Bailey came home we brought him to Dr. V for the follow up visits. Unfortunately he continued to deteriorate and a few months later Dr. V helped us with that most awful of decisions to put him down. They were incredibly compassionate and made a terrible time as easy as possible. We cannot thank the entire staff enough for their incredible care. read more

I have four dogs at the present time. I've had dogs/cats/birds and other assorted wildlife for my entire adult life. I've never been as confident in a Vet as I am in Dr. Voorhies. Recently there was a scare on Facebook about diseases running rampant in NJ near waterways - when i spoke with doc he reassured me and explained to me what the actual story was. He was quick to respond to my call and didn't suggest I come in to discuss it like so many do who are just looking for an office visit fee. He has the business of my four dogs without question. I couldn't be more pleased. Experiences had here: routine visits; shots; minor surgical procedures; complex office visits. Staff is awesome as well. :) read more

Would highly recommend this vet to anyone in the area who has pets. My dogs are reactive and skittish, normally, especially around men. Exam, handling, shots, no problems. Not a one. They seem to know when they are in good hands. The entire staff is wonderful, and the office is spotless. read more
