Do not get your dentures here! From the second I put my denture in, I told the DDS that the teeth…read morewere too big and they were bucked. The DDS sent the teeth out to be corrected, they lowered the gums on the pair I was given so the teeth appear to be smaller. The overbite issue was addressed by adding more "gum" to the front of the denture so now my upper lip sticks out. So, same teeth, same poor fit, same unaddressed concerns. The DDS told me he could not help me. Then, I was given the opportunity to pay more to have them "fixed", which I declined. For 2 reasons. 1 is I already paid handsomely for a denture that does not fit correctly and no one cares to do anything about without extra money and 2 is they are giving me the same DDS who did them and fixed them incorrectly in the first place. So, please, if you need dentures, find a DDS that cares about the smile you wear. I have to wear these horrible pieces of plastic until I can afford another pair. Your smile is so important, don't let this office take it away.

So a month later we get a $130.00 bill. That floored us. So my wife called and we were told that they were no longer an in network provider. That they got a letter from our insurance provider dropping them from the network. I understand these things happen. But upon check in they never said anything about no longer being in network when in fact they knew they weren't. When checking in they always asked if there is any changes to our insurance. We didn't know that they were dropped as our insurance company never notified us of the change. So we appealed the bill to Shallotte Family Dentistry and they refused to work with us on their bill citing that they file our insurance as a courtesy. Beware, that you could end up with a huge bill if you had more work than a cleaning done. I would no longer recommend them.

However, when I was taken to the room, the assistant said it would actually be $309. When I asked why, she said, "It's just a $10 difference," which is not true -- it's $19. I told her I would be paying cash (no insurance) and that I didn't appreciate the price changing before we even started. She said she would go check the price and never came back. After 40 minutes, I went out myself and found her just standing there. She said they had increased the prices and that the front desk "didn't know." Then the doctor, Robert Huggins, came in and said prices were higher because I made the appointment "a month ago." That's not true -- I scheduled it three days before. He apologized and agreed to honor the original $290 price, and even said he'd do it for $280. He gave me anesthesia at 11:10 a.m. and said he would start in a few minutes. But he didn't come back for almost an hour -- until 11:55. By that time, the anesthesia was already wearing off. When I told him this was unacceptable, he said, "You're right, I should've told you to come next week, because I'm too busy today." Then he gave me two options: he said he could either start right now and finish everything in 15 minutes, or reschedule me for another day. So basically, after sitting in that chair for three and a half hours, hungry, numb, and ignored, he suddenly decided my treatment could be rushed in just 15 minutes. That's not normal, and it's absolutely unacceptable. Even though it was an emergency for me and I decided to let him fix the tooth that day, I left the clinic completely drained and disappointed. No one offered water, no one apologized. At the end, he gave me a $50 discount, and I ended up paying $618 in total. I will never come back to this place again -- and I don't recommend it to anyone who expects respect, honesty, and professionalism
