Excellent at getting you in if you have a problem. Friendly and prompt. I'm very impressed with…read moreDr. Rakos' professionalism- the whole staff for that matter.

I scheduled an appointment to have a mouth guard made. I was told Dr Rakos would examine my mouth…read moreand determine if I needed a hard or soft guard. When I arrived, Rakos didn't bother to come into the exam room, even when I asked the dental assistant how does he even know which one I need if he's not even going to examine me. We proceeded with a soft guard mold. When I inquired if they would be billing my insurance I was told my insurance probably wouldn't cover it but not to worry as Rakos only charges $100. The next day I received notice from my private insurance that Rakos billed them $300 and my portion was $150. When I called his office and asked why they billed my insurance three times the amount I was told he charges $100 to uninsured people. I spoke to Rene who was VERY unprofessional, rude and augmentative because I didn't believe that was ethical. She condescendingly said to me "Honey, you can pay $100 if you like". She said the $100 charges were only if I didn't have insurance. Today I received a letter from Rakos stating they sent a corrective claim of $0 to my insurance and he will no longer be my provider nor be making me a mouth guard. The only professional and caring individual was the receptionist and she kindly talked to me and suggested a daily mouthwash to help with me. Dr. Rakos is the very reason why premiums increase every year by over charging for his services just because he can get away with it. If he's making money off of $100 then he's tripling that amount by gouging my insurance company. I'd suggest if you're looking for a dentist that is certain of your medical needs, has professional staff and is ethical...look elsewhere! He didn't even care enough to get my last name correct on the letter I received today! Sloppy all around!
