I went here for a second opinion after my primary dentist did not instill confidence in me when recommending an extraction. Boy, am I glad I sought a second opinion! SD did an x-ray and a quick test and discovered that my other dentist was recommending that I pull the wrong tooth!!! Ultimately, the rest of the story was challenging as multiple attempts to get the tooth out reinforced my previous experiences of requiring a more extensive surgical procedure. Extremely rude and horribly unprofessional. I'd waited several months for an appointment. The day before that appointment, Sunset Dental called me to cancel and said they'd call me back to reschedule ~ never called. Everything had gone downhill from there. I'm on vacation and needed an emergency re-cement on a crown. This dentist office is so awesome, I wish they were in my hometown!! I came in at 7:30 am and everyone was in a great mood, laughing and singing to some great music they had playing. Everything was immaculately clean and very nicely designed and decorated, which, coming from an interior design background, I always critique. So, I have been a customer of Sunset Dental for years and other than them maybe being a little expensive, I didn't have any complaints. Today, when I went in to get a cleaning, I was told that the dental hygienist who normally worked with me was no longer there and someone different would be cleaning my teeth. That was fine with me. However, within 30 seconds of sitting down, the unpleasant woman who was cleaning my teeth said to me, and I quote, "You either have to get x-rays today or go." Not only did I not like the tone, I was a bit baffled in that I had just gotten X-rays two years ago at the same place and there were no problems. Why did I need X-rays again so soon? This seemed like gouging to me, but the world's least pleasant dental hygienist shrilly explained it by saying, "It's the law!" Of course, since I go there regularly and was there at the end of last year, that didn't make a lot of sense to me. Did they just pass this law a week ago? Maybe they did for all I know, but if so, she certainly made no effort to explain it. So, I tried to question her about it, but she kept that same nasty tone, like a cranky school teacher talking to a disobedient child. By this point, I was annoyed that someone I was paying money to do a service for me was talking to me like this, and I asked her outright, "So, you are telling me I either need to get these x-rays or leave?" She said, "Yes, you need to get the X-rays or leave." At that point, I got up and said, "Okay, I'm leaving." She responded, "GOOD!" and the harpy followed me down the hall telling me it was good I was leaving. I let the receptionist know I was taking off because Nurse Ratchet was rude and I left. Certainly, I can't tell you what to do, but I can tell you that if you are looking for a dentist, this is how they treat their long-term customers who have been going there for years. So, how do you think they're going to treat you? Probably not very well. I can get my teeth cleaned somewhere else. I'd suggest you do the same unless the experience above sounds like the way you want to be treated. read more
