Hand Crafted Metalworks

Hand Crafted Metalworks

I had a very disappointing experience with Hand Crafted Metalworks…read more From the beginning, I was extremely clear about what I wanted. I provided a reference photo on the very first day and made it known that I am very detail-oriented, especially because this was a major custom staircase railing project costing around $20,000. I wanted the finished product to closely match the design, proportions, style, and overall look of the reference photo. Unfortunately, the process became frustrating and confusing. Instead of feeling like my vision was being understood and executed, I repeatedly felt like the design was being scaled back, reinterpreted, or changed from what I had originally requested. Multiple revisions were needed because key details were not reflected properly, including how the railings were supposed to continue down the lower steps and terminate at the bottom. One major issue was that the shop drawings showed a rectangular/square wood cap, even though the reference photo I provided showed a round wood handrail. That was a major design difference, not a small detail. For a custom project of this size, I expected the drawings to accurately reflect the design direction I had communicated from the start. Another major frustration was the coordination process. I hired Hand Crafted Metalworks expecting them to manage the project. Instead, I felt like I was being put in the middle between their metal team and their wood subcontractor. I was connected directly with the wood subcontractor, who appeared to be unaware of important details, including that the wood was already part of the original quote. At one point, it felt like I was being asked to coordinate or clarify things that should have been handled internally by the contractor. There was also confusion around the timeline. A timeline that had been discussed as approximately six weeks later appeared to become September, which was a significant difference. When I asked for clarification, the conversation became defensive instead of simply explaining the scheduling change. Overall, my frustration is not just about one isolated issue. It is about the entire process: repeated miscommunication, inaccurate design assumptions, unclear subcontractor coordination, changing expectations, and a feeling that I had to keep fighting to preserve the original design vision I clearly communicated from day one. For a high-end custom project, I expected a much smoother and more professional process. Instead, I felt like I had to constantly correct, clarify, and manage details that should have been understood and handled by the company. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I'd post only after the credit card dispute is filed, not before, and keep screenshots/emails organized in case they respond publicly.

Our experience with this company was extremely frustrating. After paying our deposit, the project…read morewas ridden with missed appointments, poor communication, and repeated mistakes. Our primary point of contact, Chris, was responsible for coordinating the project, yet we frequently had to make multiple calls just to get updates or receive a response. On one occasion, workers arrived at our home, informed us they needed to leave to purchase materials, and then never returned that day. The problems extended far beyond scheduling. The initial measurements taken for our custom railings were inaccurate, resulting in the wrong product being fabricated. When installation day finally arrived, the wrong order was delivered. We were assured the mistakes would be corrected, only for another incorrect order to arrive later. The same crew was repeatedly sent back to address the issues, yet the problems remained unresolved. The quality of the installation itself was also concerning. The railings were improperly installed, caused damage to our walls and floors, and portions of the installation began pulling away from the wall within a month. Given that stair railings are a safety feature, this was particularly alarming and further diminished our confidence in the company's workmanship. What should have been a straightforward project turned into months of delays, repeated errors, broken promises, and constant follow-up on our part. We were repeatedly given timelines and assurances that were never honored, and obtaining updates often required persistent phone calls. The most disappointing part was not the mistakes themselves, but the lack of accountability and follow-through. Every issue seemed to require multiple calls and reminders, yet meaningful resolution never came. After months of frustration, we ultimately canceled the contract because we no longer trusted that the project would be completed correctly or safely. Mistakes can happen in any business, but professionalism is measured by how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, between the inaccurate measurements, incorrect fabrication, poor installation, wall damage, communication issues, missed appointments, and failure to stand behind the work, our experience was extremely disappointing. I cannot recommend this company.

Very nice doors that are about 11-12 years old, but the double-door's lower locking pin broke and I could only open one side of the double doors. I got in touch with Jordan at Naddour's Custom Metalworks to find out about getting it repaired. She spoke with their manager at their manufacturing center and discovered the same parts used with the older door were no longer available. The good news was updated parts were available at a very reasonable price. They would have to just slightly modified for our older door. Great! I booked the repair appointment ASAP and Edgar came from the factory to do the repairs. He showed up at the house and was very nice and professional. He got to work quickly with removing the old parts and installing the new ones. Thankfully, this repair could be done without removing one side or both of the iron doors. He modified the parts, installed them within a little over 2 hours, the repairs were completed. Both doors open and close tightly again. I'm planning on buying an extra set of top and bottom latches for the door, in case I need them later on or the next owner needs them in the future. It was great working with Jordan, Edgar and Carlo at Naddour's Custom Metalworks. Everyone was really friendly, professional and very helpful with getting the doors fixed as soon as possible. If we wanted to put iron doors on our next house, I would definitely call this company to purchase them. 5 Stars for the great customer service!

However, the masonry wall which the 3rd gate was attached to began to move after the gate was installed. Therefore, it was necessary to demo the existing masonry wall and construct a new wall. I contacted Naddour's after the new wall was completed requesting that they confirm a date and time when they could install the gate. I called twice and also texted but never received a return call. I was able to contact another gate company who agreed to install the gate. I am very disappointed in Naddour's as I paid $19,021 for the door and gates and was willing to pay for installation of the gate to the new wall.

I am late in making this review. As I need some sheet steel work again, making two custom pieces…read morefor a large BBQ grill cover, I realize I should mention the excellence, both of work and customer service Gutierrez Manufacturing offers. About a year ago, I was renovating the grill above and needed to have a piece fabricated that had partially burnt out from excessive heat, barbecuing 4 to 5 hours at 250F. I brought in what was left of the piece, plus a dimensioned sketch of what I thought the profile needed to be. I met Jose' as I walked into the shop area. He listened very intently (I like that a lot in a pro) and held the piece, turning it and nodding as I explained what I thought it should be made from. Jose' said that he can make it from the sheet metal gage I had mentioned, or from stainless steel, slightly thinner, for the same price. I agreed on the stainless and he gave me a receipt with very little writing on it......but I figured, "better start trusting the guy knows what you want and how he's going to make it; insisting on doing it my way has shot me in the foot too many times." I got a call the next day. I was flabbergasted the piece could be made so quickly and Jose' must have thought I am an idiot, asking repeatedly, "really? it's done already?" The piece is fairly complex, in that it has about 9 brakes in the profile, is about 3 feet long and must fit fairly precisely. It did fit beautifully, still looks great and I'm convinced this guy does some kind of magic with metal. So I'm headed back on Monday, rusted piece in hand, figuring Jose' can fill in the rusted parts in his mind, as he fabricates it. I won't care how much writing is on my receipt when i leave so he can do his work, because I can count on going back, picking up the two pieces and they will fit in the grill's cover section perfectly. Thanks Gutierrez Manufacturing.

I found one pretty, pretty close, but I needed to raise it up an inch. That's where Gutierrez Manufacturing comes in. Alfonso listened and came up with the perfect solution at a reasonable price. I have some other projects I will definitely be going there for fabrication.

Finally we decided to check on Yelp, put out a request and within the hour had a couple of responses. One of them was Craig of Soco Metal works. I sent him pictures of our repair request, we got on a call and discussed the process, the time, the cost, then agreed on a date. On the day of the work, they came on time and started working immediately. Before I knew it, they were done and completed the work in less time than anticipated. Needless to say their work was perfect, you could not tell there was ever anything to repair. These guys do not have many reviews in Yelp, but do not let that deter you from hiring them. They are professionals, punctual and trustworthy, and their cost is very reasonable. They are ready and willing to help with any repairs, big or small.
