This "clinic" is registered as a profit corporation and is not accredited with the Better Business…read moreBureau. Despite calling itself a "hospital", it does not provide emergency services. In my experience, the costs for exams, checkups, and vaccines are significantly higher than expected, and procedures are often performed out of sight after pets are removed from the room. Following one such visit, both of my dogs experienced adverse reactions to vaccines. Scheduling appointments is unnecessarily difficult, even though the facility often appears underutilized. When I requested a refill for my elderly cat's prescription diet, the clinic refused without requiring another exam and vaccines. This was particularly concerning given my cat's advanced age and difficulty traveling. No alternative solutions were offered. Additionally, a diet recommended for my dog led to serious health issues and cancer growths. The clinic then suggested costly surgeries exceeding $2,000 per growth, which ultimately proved unnecessary when the condition resolved after switching to a holistic diet. Overall, the emphasis here seems to be on profit rather than patient care. Examinations are rushed, often lasting only a few minutes, yet billed at hundreds of dollars. Based on these experiences, I cannot recommend this clinic to pet owners seeking compassionate, transparent, and trustworthy veterinary care."

Here's my story...friends' dog who has an awful habit of stealing and eating anything that's not nailed down got hold of a cat ' nine tails and an empty milk carton. Some time around 4 a.m. we all could see he wasn't doing well and we knew he needed to be seen by a vet...fast. We called and got Dr. Mike McIntire on the phone. Notwithstanding the late hour he told us to come in with the dog and we did. For the next five hours he checked the beast, gave him fluids, provided medicine and got us so that we could head home with a healthy, recovering dog. He took care of things in a calm, reasonable manner that obviously came from experience and from realizing we were quite nervous about the pup. Dr. Mike wasn't shy about telling us what he thought was happening and was quick to ask us to help with the procedures he undertook on the animal. There was a welcome unpretentiousness that calmed us down a lot, and that was refreshing. Place isn't cheap...but it's certainly worth visiting if one has a sick animal. I hope I don't ever have to go back there, but if I do, I'm glad to know it's such a good place.

He told me during a consult he had to hold my very small dogs mouth closed and she turned blue and couldn't breathe...when I simply and respectfully asked for more details about this, he cancelled her procedure and told me we weren't welcome. He would rather my dog suffer or even die than provide more info. He clearly has a big ego problem and is too rough with animals...my dog was clearly scared. I can't believe I let him take her for a consult in the first place. Additionally, he rushed the conversation, made me feel like an idiot, and rudely told me nowhere else would be able to fit me in before September (4 months from now.) He also gave incorrect info about another diagnosis he clearly knew nothing about. Marie in the office was fantastic, I wish I could work solely with her. But if you want to keep your pet safe, healthy, and unharmed, stay far away from "Mike". I wish someone had warned me, I feel so bad for not trusting my gut and feel like I let my sweet girl down for even letting him take her for a consult in the first place!

Our…read morepup is a cautious boy and was unsure of the staff at first, but we introduced him to Mary and her team a few times prior to dropping him off for 5-days a week doggie daycare. Our pup is now 5 1/2 years old and LOVES going to APPR. Although we now live 30 minutes away, we still take him to APPR whenever we need someone to care for him if we are going to be away for a few hours or a week. We attempted a different place when I changed jobs a few years ago to save on my commute for daycare drop off, but our pup did not adjust to this new place well. He was scared and did not respond well to the pet caregivers. We were told he hid in a corner most of the days and didn't play with the other dogs and was scared whenever a group of dogs approached him. The new place operated under a "dog park" mentality and all the dogs were grouped together during the day-our pup was telling them and us he didn't like that style. The new place had all the bells and whistles of fancy live feed cameras, indoor playground and outdoor playground, but our dog didn't care about that and didn't care to remain at the new place. Our dog responds very well to positive reinforcement, how he is being treated and how he is being taken care of and our pup is happiest when in small groups or 1:1 playtime. APPR offers this type of service for him. APPR is a family-owned business so they do not have all the bells and whistles like some other surrounding or larger places within a 20-30 mile radius, but they care for, individualized care, and are attentive to the pets they service. When our pup is boarded, we provide plenty of treats, food and toppers along with his blanket and dog bed to provide a more 'comfort of home' feel for him. We know how much he eats and what he likes and APPR honors our feeding plan and gives the measurements, food, toppers and treats that we request. We have a wonderful relationship and 2-way communication with APPR. If we request grooming and/or bathing as a part of his stay, we ask for this at a minimal extra charge. Oni has experienced both daily daycare and boarding services and he and we are happy with their service. When my husband and I travel, we know that our pup is in good hands with Mary and her team. Thank you all for taking such good care of our furbaby. My husband and I do and continue to recommend A Precious Pet Resort for daycare or boarding. A picture of his first day at APPR!

It made a huge difference and I had the greatest respect for Jess. Unfortunately, the last time I brought my Newfoundland the owner, Mary, massively shamed me. My dog went through surgery when he was two, that they were well aware of since they were taking care of him before and after. The surgery was a success, but my Newfie suffers from the shakes when he gets nervous or does something he doesn't like. We bring him to the vet yearly and they monitor his hips and have said he's fine, but he has anxiety when he's brushed by his back legs. Jess is well aware that the shakes are simply his way to con people into not doing what he doesn't want to, he's a master manipulator. We did recently bring him to a new vet and we were going to try anxiety meds for him at his next visit. The last time we brought him we did explain that he had a couple of mats and to over charge us if they had a more difficult time grooming him. When I called later to pick him up no one answered, I tried several times. I was a little concerned as it was after 4 and they didn't typically take that long. So I drove there and they were just finishing. Mary came out hot, shaming me for his mats and for how bad he shakes and made me feel just awful. She is well aware the shakes are neurological and she made me feel like a horrible dog owner yelling about how bad he shakes. She yelled that I need to start bringing him in every 6 weeks or more, which I simple cannot afford at over $120 a visit. I still gave her a generous tip and cried on the way home. We try to bring him in 4 times a year, especially in the spring for a deeper trim before he starts swimming. Even though I was ashamed and embarrassed I trusted these guys with my Dexter so I called in May to make an appointment and left a message. I tried again a few weeks later, left a message. Again I tried and left a message with her husband to call back, no response. My husband tried to call and the lovely Jess answered, but she had to check with Mary on a time, no call back. I left another message a day later asking if they were stopping us as clients and to please let us know as it's been two months of me trying to make an appointment and Dexter is in desperate need at this point, no forking call back. At this point I'm so incredibly disappointed with this company. 6 years Dexter went to them and with his trust issues it's going to be very difficult to find another groomer, let alone someone that can support his giant weight. I just thought after years of dedication they would at least have the decency to let us no they no longer wish to see our dog so we could have made arrangements sooner for another visit. I was stupidly loyal even after Mary treated me so poorly. The crazy things is, Jess stated multiple times in the past that we do the best with our Newfie to keep him groomed between appointments, better than the other owners so this last appointment and the vigorous shaming by Mary was completely unexpected. Wish Jess the best, but I have zero respect for the owner Mary. You don't do this to loyal customers.

We are on holiday in New Hampshire for a few weeks visiting the in-laws and needed to board our two Weimaraners overnight while we were in Albany for my partner's graduation and felt incredibly nervous boarding them in a completely new environment that they had never been to. One of our weims who's almost 12(and slightly taller than your average Weimaraner with osteoarthritis) just needs a little extra care and that's what we felt was given. Barbara prices her boarding quite affordably and if you know how to board your dog accordingly then there really shouldn't be an issue. She runs her business from her property where her home is on a large lot in Loudon next to some of the highest peaks in Merrimack county and the scenery is absolutely stunning. Due to her affordable prices and services, it's clear that she does this for nothing but the absolute joy that it brings her. While we were there we even noticed customers all the way from Massachusetts and it's clear why people will make that drive. We will definitely be returning for possible daycare services or overnight boarding in the future. We appreciated Barbara's TLC, good conversation, and good business. Highly recommended.

He then stated I don't know you even come here The doctors don't even like you to which I got very upset and left without my dog being seen and now have to go to the ER. This is not my first bad experience with them as I had to insist multiple times for them to increase the antibiotics or do a culture on an elderly dog last year to which they refused to do anything about until she developed a mucousy discharge from her vagina resulting in Sepsis which concluded with having to have the dog put down, she was old, however, proper treatment the wishes of a patient is paramount. I asked for culture cultures for weeks if not months for that dog and they never did it. Do not go there if you care about your dogs this veterinarian is strictly for updating vaccinations, rabies shots and that's it. I would not take a dog with any health concerns to this place.
