She never does that at a vets office--she usually hides behind me! So I KNEW he had to be good hearted. Vicky ended up needing surgery to remove 2 HUGE cysts that I admit I should have taken care of when they were smaller. Anyway, Dr. Snyder suggested a surgeon for me to contact. I respect his honesty--a less honest veterinarian would have attempted the complicated surgery himself. Vicky's surgery was successful, and she is healing well. But I will always return to Dr. Snyder with both my rottie and by beagle for all future exams, shots, etc. as he is sincere, gentle, and kind. I have never left a negative review for a veterinary hospital because I understand that most…read moreclinics are understaffed, managing emotionally charged situations, emergencies, rising costs, and significant burnout. That said, I feel obligated to share my experience. I initially brought my cat in for an examination and urine culture. The appointment took approximately three hours, which was surprising given the nature of the visit. I have experience working in shelters and veterinary settings, so I came prepared with detailed notes in an effort to make the appointment as efficient as possible. I was later told that extended wait times in exam rooms are not uncommon at this practice. I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Lindo. She was knowledgeable, collaborative, conversational, and open-minded. Based on my interaction with her alone, I would have been willing to return. Unfortunately, the remainder of my experience raised serious concerns. During the visit, a manager assisted in handling my special-needs cat. The handling was unnecessarily forceful, including scruffing and allowing him to struggle excessively. As someone familiar with handling practices, I found this troubling and inconsistent with low-stress and fear-free techniques. The most concerning issue involved my cat's urine culture. I paid approximately $700 for the visit, which included sending out the culture. I routinely request urine cultures because they identify the specific bacteria causing an infection and help ensure the correct antibiotic is chosen, reducing unnecessary antibiotic use and helping prevent resistance. In my experience, these results typically return within five days. More than three weeks have now passed, and I still have not received the results. Because of the delay, I ultimately had to start my cat on antibiotics without the benefit of the diagnostic testing I paid for. At this point, even if the results are eventually provided, their clinical usefulness has been significantly diminished by the passage of time. I have called multiple times seeking an update. On each occasion, I was told someone would call me back, yet I never received a return call. When I did speak with management, I found the communication unprofessional and concerning. I had originally planned to have my younger cat spayed at this hospital. However, given the handling concerns, lack of communication, and failure to provide the diagnostic results I paid for within an appropriate timeframe, I no longer feel comfortable entrusting my pets to their care.

Not only does she has the experience to diagnose our family dog, but she also has the BEST "Dog Side Manner" I have ever experienced in a veterinary office. Dr. Clair's professionalism was like talking to a family member. She took the time to explain in detail our doggie's ailment. The intake staff was absolutely a member of the team. Best of all, our hats off to Raza. You will not find anyone better in any veterinary clinic that can fulfill his role and support "patients" and clients. Dr. Claire's group is really one of the best. Having come from Southern California, where veterinary clinics are large in numbers, we found a home for our Samantha under the care of Charlestown Animal Hospital.] The team really deserves more than a five-star rating!

The staff / owner doesn't seem to understand science very well as their "policy" is to require all visitors to the office wear a mask, even though they don't prevent transmission or acquisition of respiratory illnesses like Covid (maybe they should read the Cochrane Review report) and wouldn't let me pick up my two kittens without wearing one. When I waited outside one of the staff members came out and took her mask off, saying she liked to get a break to breathe the fresh air. Won't be back.

My dog was having an issue with her foot that I had hoped would clear up on its own, but she got a little testy about, so I decided to bring her in. I called in the morning and they had a couple of slots open for the same afternoon, which was great. We arrived to a construction site, lots of power tools and men stomping through in their boots. My dog was not particularly disturbed by this, but going to the vet is already not her favorite thing, so it might have been nice to get a heads up. Especially knowing that she was feeling a little protective of her foot, I'm not sure if I would have chosen to bring her to an additionally stressful space with a bunch of strange extra people. The staff was accommodating enough and apologetic of the chaos in their space. We were moved into an exam room pretty quickly. One of the techs came in and asked a bunch of questions and entered everything into the computer. Eventually the vet came in and asked a lot of the same questions, which is fine for verifying everything, but I wondered if she had checked in on the computer info at all. She did an exam. She noticed one growth on my dog, but missed the other, and didn't note her couple of chipped teeth or the spot in her eye that most vets ask about, so I'm not sure how thorough this was. She took some samples from the paw without much explanation of what they were trying to do or learn or what the cost would be. They disappeared to check them out for a while and came back still not really knowing what was causing it. She did give some options while deciding on prescriptions, which was helpful. My dog has had a very similar issue in the past, which we went to another vet for, and it cost about $40 less for the same exam, procedures, and prescriptions ($145 vs $187), so this place seemed a little on the expensive side to me, and I'm not convinced that the care was better. I also asked both the tech and the vet about heartworm meds; neither seemed to run with this and offer to do the test, so I guess we will update them later. They've already done her exam, so we will probably go there to update vaccinations, but I'm not sure that I would stick with them otherwise. Seemed fine, not great.
