My dear friend almost lost her hand and her life last week from an infection after being neglected…read morehere. When I went to pick up her belongings, not one staff member asked me how she was doing. Instead, the business manager reminded me to make sure that I still send in her payment for the next month. When my friend first arrived here, we were assured that they had in house doctors who accepted her insurance and that they are all inclusive. That was not the case. Weeks went by before I was notified she was out of her meds. When they found metastasized nodules in her lungs and referred her to a pulmonologist, I was told they would schedule the appointment and everything would be taken care of. Two months went by without hearing anything, only to call and find out that they dont have any provider's who accept that insurance in that county and I would have to take her myself. That is completely fine, but how am I supposed to know these things if they don't communicate that? I've received calls from their own staff who are concerned about her not being taken care of properly. Life is hard enough dealing with Alzheimer's, for the caregivers and loved ones experiencing this debilitating disease. Please keep a close eye on your loved ones at this facility.

They are extremely rough with the residents. just all around not nice! it's been seen a lot how residents were left in bed and not not even changed left alone wipes properly when being changed. If they don't like your loved one than they simple won't deal with it or even be nice! BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS IF YOU REALLY LOVE YOUR LOVED ONE!

I don't think many of us anticipate, or plan for, the ending days of life as much as we plan for death. That is unfortunate because the comfort of a loved one in life is far more important than the memorial that is to follow. Vitas Healthcare in Lecanto was where my Mom spent the last 100 or so hours of her life. She was transported there after about 4 days in the hospital. By the time she arrived at Vitas, she was vegetative. It was a difficult time for my brother and for me, but we could see that Vitas was caring for her as well as could be done. My mother did not suffer, and she was treated with dignity in her final hours. Typing this now, a few weeks later, it is still an emotional experience, but I can say with conviction that I do not believe my mother could have been in a better place in her final hours. That thought gives me a lot of comfort. The staff was great, both in dealing with my Mom and in dealing with my brother and me. If you are in the Lecanto area, you are fortunate to have Vitas Healthcare as a resource when you need it.

When I have had a concern or complaint, it has been addressed promptly and to my satisfaction. They get my mother up every morning and wash and dress her. She is declining so often will hand feed her. She gets her hair washed and set every Tuesday and Activities occasionally paints her nails. They have a podiatrist come in to cut her toe nails. I visit 2-3 times a week to check on her and made sure staff knows my face. The facility is always clean and the floors are shining. I wish there were more staff members to help with activities. I had read the negative comments and wanted to add my review, as I think this is one of the better homes of this nature. Loved ones need to visit often and be proactive in their care rather than just complain. My mother is on Medicaid so money is not the reason she receives excellent care.

BEWARE !!! DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR LOVED ONES !…read more My mother was a resident there for few A months shew was a transfer from there sister place while they underwent some remodeling the day she was admitted to this place they had no idea who she was how she got there and told my daughter they had no paperwork for her, so I call the rehab place she transfers from they assured us that they 100% knew she was coming and that her paper work was sent over, this place called me back to let us know that it was a miss communication on their end. The whole time she was at this place we were not able to get in touch with my mom on the phone either the phone would ring 2 times and hang up or it wouldn't ring at all and drop the call. the staff here have shitty attitudes no communication skills at all and horrid bedside manner. Not to mention negligent... just last week my mother was rushed to the hospital because she was throwing up couldn't hold anything down and we had no idea no one ever called us. So for the first 4 days my mom was at the hospital she was alone and had no idea why she was there, my mom has dementia, when my daughter went to this place to pick her up to bring her over to our house to hang out for her birthday we called that morning to let them know we would-be coming to pick her up and nothing was mentioned, my daughter gets there and was told oh she's not here she's in the hospital, so my daughter goes to the hospital to see what's going on, and I call citrus and was told that it says in her chart that they talked to my moms' granddaughter to tell someone however no such call ever took place no one in my family spoke to anyone at all. The reason my mom was at the hospital was because she had a 45mm kidney stone in her right kidney, and it was blocking her kidney she also had a 27mm and 11mm kidney stones as well as a terrible UTI that she had had for a long time. Now you mean to tell me that my mom wasn't having any symptoms at all?? I find that very, very hard to believe. So because the staff here is down right lazy and negligent as fuck my mom was on the border of sepsis when she got to the ER. The point of my rant here is this... I ALMOST LOST MY MOM BECAUSE OF THIS PLACE. AND IF YOU LOOK THROUGH THE REVIEWS ON HERE MY MOM IS SADLY NOT THE ONLY ONE AND WORSE WON'T BE THE LAST. PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR LOVED ONES. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN AND ALL THE STAFF HELD ACCOUNTABLE FORT HER ACTIONS OR LACK THERE OF. IF I COULD, I WOULD GIVE THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A NURSING AND REHAB A NEGATIVE 10 STARS I ABSOLUTELY WOULD.

The entire operation and everyone involved has been professional and focused on providing the best care possible. Dad experienced some medical problems (completely unrelated to the care provided by Visiting Angels) after a year into the VAO care program which resulted in changes to his living arrangements. VAO was understanding, cooperative, flexible, helpful and supportive in making adjustments to Dad's care program. It has now been nearly 18-months since VAO began providing services. We have never had a problem with billings, services, care-givers, or compliance with the scope of services provided by VAO and the outstanding staff. Dad has been cared for by one person for the overwhelming majority of time - but there has been a limited number of days when other caregivers were required to fill-in (due to illness, doctor visits, family emergencies, etc) for Dad's primary caregiver. The "substitute" caregivers were each well informed of Dad's condition/personality before arriving and each provided good, friendly, quality support that was welcomed by Dad. If you're ever in need of a reliable home health care service to provide care, companionship, light housekeeping services, assisting with meal preparation and clean-up, personal hygiene and grooming support, and a compassionate friend to help care for a loved one, I would certainly strongly recommend VAO. Reach out to Elizabeth or Kandice and find out how VAO can work with you in developing a program that works best for your loved ones needs and interests: the costs for care are very reasonable given the quality and reliability of services.
