The owner was really nice and the store had many underground artists/bands so with popular ones. I saw tapes and movies in physical media.

Randy converted my skydiving dvd video into digital format and I am absolutely thrilled with the results.

My friend and I…read moretook an adventure to Coney Island last week, and I insisted on making him walk to Brighton Beach (this seems like no big deal, since the two beaches are next to each other, but I got us lost on the way, of course...). I cannot describe how much I love Brighton Beach, and also how simultaneously intimidated I am to speak Russian to... well, actual Russian people. My accent is horrendous! But at least I could tell my friend what all the crazy toys in were inside of Detskiy Mir - my favourite being the "paint your own saint" wooden figures. This place is amazing, seriously. It has something for everyone, from illustrated Chekov' kids books to talking stuffed animals to the simple notebooks I purchased with Russian insignia on them. The staff is friendly if you understand Russian culture and customs (never hand your money to a Russian, just saying. Put it on the counter). I know my friend loved this place, and I cannot express properly in words how very happy it makes me to be in any kind of Russian store. Eta byla tak horosho!! :D

When Italy won the World Cup in 2006 this was one of the central meeting points for rabid fans! You can get Italian anything, Cassettes, CD's Vinyl, movies you name it. It's also a gift shop with tons of italian t-shirts. If you enjoy nostalgia you should visit this store before it is gone, it's one of the few Italian stores left in the neighborhood.

Along with other Italian knickknacks and coffee makers. I managed to find a cd I was looking for and ended buying another that they were playing. Fine and good. I walked out satisfied...at least until I was halfway back home. The cds looked a bit "off". I didn't realize it in the store because I guess I was in a rush. Dreading the worst I unwrapped the CDs and my disappointment was confirmed. They were counterfeit. The "booklet" was just a folded glossy paper with no pages on the inside. The top of the disc was a poorly designed knock-off. Sure the CDs worked, but fake? That's messed up. SAS is located deep in Brooklyn just a few stops shy of Coney Island. If you're in Manhattan, it's a journey. I would give the place one star but since this was my first (and will quite possibly be my last) trip there, I don't know the shop enough to accuse their entire merchandise as counterfeit. So benefit of the doubt. If you decide to check it out, just take a close look at what you're buying. Don't get ripped off.
