I've been a loyal customer of Comp U Tune and Brake for years, and I'm continually impressed by the exceptional service. Most recently, Bernard and Usman agreed to do some work on my Delorean DMC-12, which had a cooling issue. They upgraded it to an all-aluminum radiator and installed new low-amperage fans. Since then, my car has been running great. They also recharged the AC, so after 40 years it still blows cool and resolved my hot start issue by replacing the fuel accumulator. Brought a truck here to get a service, and oil change and brake pads. Ending up spending about $2200 on all the items they said need attention. Ok, I trust that. As I was leaving I asked if I could have someone take a look at the light on my dash and tell me what the errors were. Sure, no problem they said. It'll be $110 for me to put my scanner on it. Really? $110 after I just spent over $2200. You couldn't do that as a kind gesture or a favor ? Not coming back after that. NO thanks! read more

Amazing service every time I go and he always has time to see me every time I pop up with an emergency! He's a very honest mechanic with reasonable prices and I go to him for all my repairs on all my cars. My car has been making this funny noise when I would brake and I thought I had to take my car in to get my brakes changed but it was something totally not related to my brakes lol. I don't have to change my brakes for at least another 6 months... turns out it was just a piece of my bumper that was rubbing on my tires ‍ so he fixed it for me for free If it we're another mechanic would he have been so honest? I have been coming here for about 7 years. In that time I have had about 3 cars in that time and one of them I actually bought from Usman. Usman is a very honest mechanic. Being a single mom with a very tight budget he always works with me to make sure that my daughter and I are safe. Usman has never over charged me and never told me to do more work than I needed. He always makes sure to tell me what is most urgent and what can wait until I have the funds to do it. I have been so pleased with his excellent customer service that I have talked about 4 others into coming to him too. Oh I almost forgot about Anna. Anna is his secretary and she is definitely very helpful. If Usman is not available to talk to you Anna will make sure to answer all your questions and if she can't she will promptly get back to you. This was my first time leaving an auto repair shop feeling like they actually cared about keeping our old, dented Honda minivan running smoothly! Great mechanics, friendly service and, importantly, not lazy about solving mystery problems that have plagued our Honda. I know something has been leaking from the engine for years now due to a big stain on the driveway. When I mentioned it at 3 other shops during routine services, they said it would be too difficult to find the leak. I forgot to mention it this time, but Usman brought it to my attention. It turned out to be transmission fluids leaking from a cracked tube. They were able to hammer the metal and put some glue which stopped the leak. It was either this patch or a whole new transmission system, so I was glad they made such an effort. Plus they pulled a nail out of a tire and patched the hole. At no additional charge above my service fee (which included a charge for oil + new belts). I highly recommend this shop! I am so happy with the work performed by the shop and the professionalism that Usman showed me. My 1999, Z3 was having numerous codes, backfire and sluggish issues. I had put off all repairs for so long because my experiences with dealerships was that they are so expensive. Usman worked with me to get the car repaired in stages. Definitely my new home away from home! Usman totally saved my butt on a Friday Night. My alternator had gone out and all the mechanics in the area shut their doors at 5:00 and i'm calling him at 3:30. I've seen a lot of mechanics for my Mercedez and my Chevy 1500 old school and i will tell you, Usman knows his stuff. Not only did he go out of his way to take care of me that night to make sure i got home (instead of spending the weekend in Union City), he stayed late (even though his family was there and they obviously had plans that night) to make sure the correct parts were installed on my car and done with quality work. Staff is extremely friendly, very personable and really made my bad situation feel with ease. I went to them to get my new lift installed on my vehicle, and although they were friendly for the most part, I will never let them touch my vehicle again. Less than a hundred miles after my lift was installed I found multiple suspension parts to be loss and/or improperly torqued. Although it is normal for parts to become lose, not to the extent that I found nor as quickly. I also found that they did not install the new sway bar links I had provided in the correct spot, even though I specifically told them where they go before I left my vehicle. What brought me to give them a one star rating was my return trip to them. I brought it back to have them re-torque the track bar in particular because my torque bar only goes to 100 ft/lbs and it requires more. Keep in mind this shop claims to be "suspension specialist", I told the owner that my front track bar needed to be torqued to 125 ft/lbs. He asked me to walk to the vehicle with him and he then said to me "Show me what the track bar is". Honestly, how can you be a suspension specialist and not know what the components are? He then pointed at the lower control arm and asked if that's what I was talking about. I told him no, and showed him the correct piece and each bolt that needed to be tightened. He then tried to tell me that that piece could not be my problem but he would do it anyway (BTW: the Track Bar being loose is what was causing my problem, so he was incorrect). He took my vehicle in and put it on the lift and came to get me, told me he wanted to show me that it was already tight and looked rather annoyed. He then began to torque it and surprise surprise the bolt did move and needed to be tighter, strike 2. And the kicker, any suspension specialist will tell you not to torque suspension components without the weight of the vehicle on the wheels because you will reload the system and cause binding or breakage. Strike 3. So in summary they: 1: Didn't install all of the components in the correct place. 2: Did not check torque settings and did not seem to care, then attempted to blame it on unbalanced wheels. 3: Failed to follow basic guidelines when installing suspension components. They may be able to slap some brakes on a vehicle or change some oil, but I wouldn't trust them to touch anything on my vehicles. read more

Since my warranty ran out on my car last year (grrr) I knew I wasn't going to spend the big bucks at BMW Fremont.... so I found Usman at Comp-u-tune. He is nice, professional, and remembers things on a personal level. He's done the oil changes on my car and my husband's truck ever since. He's also done some major work (I forget what cause you know.. I'm a girl and don't know all that car lingo stuff) and my husband said his price quotes are great. The best is this - I needed something done to my car and the only time I could bring it in was a Holiday weekend BUT still needed my own transportation. Usman gave me HIS personal car to drive while he worked on my car. How's that for service?! (Umm but I don't know if he'll do that for everyone) Anyway, IMO it's difficult building a rapport with mechanics cause you always think they're out to scam you. We don't feel that with Usman. The owner, Usman, is an awesome mechanic and a great guy to entrust your car with for all your auto maintenance needs. He and his team do good work and very honest (something rare these days with other mechanics). Whenever I need a ride home, he or someone would personally drive me back while my car is fixed. Ana at the front desk was a pleasure to work with, and then after introducing me to Usman, I knew I had stumbled upon a rarity - an auto repair shop that actually understands customer service! I explained my situation, and need to get to a business appointment - after a quick diagnostic they were able to identify the issue, order parts, make the repair, and send me off on my way within 2hrs! I have a Subaru BRZ, so everything about this car tends to cost more than the average car. The gentleman who quoted me (also handles the cars), not only recommended the oil type and filter as if he was going to work on his own car, but pointed out some other items that previous mechanics overlooked; very valid items. I have worked with Uzman twice and feel that he is honest and fair. I am a "do it yourself" guy with a basic distrust of people in the auto repair business, but these guys proved me wrong and "knocked the ball out of the park" by helping me with some work on short notice. My only reservation about recommending Computune is that so many people will find out about them and I won't be able to get an appointment. I own a Honda and an Acura, and am not afilliated with them in any way. I think I can describe dealing with them as "why make things complicated like a dealership, when they can be friendly and easy ?"
