Comore Coffee & Books is located on the first floor of Plaza Magnus and is a perfect spot to tuck away for reading or to pick up a coffee (hot or cold) on your way in or out, or during a week.
The coffee shop has a selection of new books for sale and also used books. Most of the new books are in Spanish. The used ones are in English and Spanish. The new books seem to be popular titles in their original language or in translation and cover a range of fiction and non-fiction genres. The used books are a bit more random with a slightly heavier selection of non-fiction, particularly business titles.
The menu has changed since the first open, and I do miss their prepared yogurt with extra peanut butter, but maybe they'll bring it back?! Now they offer a smoked salmon or turkey and cheese bagel for savory dishes and a broad selection of baked goods which so far have been fresh and do not seem to be from Costco.
The coffee here shines. They use a good temperature of water for their americano, so it doesn't have an overly bitter bite to it. They have a delicious hazelnut latte that is particularly lovely during weekend chores or errands. I've also enjoyed their chai latte, which I've tried both hot and cold. It is sweet, but not too sweet.
The drinks are made reasonably quickly, and they will heat up savory or sweet foods, so you can enjoy it a bit more.
I've seen quite a few small groups here talking about reading, work, art, and family matters. I've also seen a good amount of folks come in to order after a pilates class (upstairs) or meal from one of the other restaurants and then head right out drink in hand. It can be a bit busy, but usually you'll find some space to unwind on your own or with a friend. read more
