The quality of the work far exceeded my expectations, and everything looks beautiful. What impressed me most was their responsiveness and follow-through. When raccoons started ripping up my grass and I later worried some plants looked dry (I'm not a plant person, so I wasn't sure about their life cycle), Jose picked up my call right away and even drove all the way to Ojai to check in personally. That level of dedication and care is rare and gave me total peace of mind. I can't recommend Jose and his crew enough -- they go above and beyond, deliver excellent results, and do it all at a great value.

We were very happy with the result of landscaping our small front yard and numerous neighbors have spontaneously complimented the work. Jose was thoughtful, creative, and easy to work with. When driving up the 101 from LA to the Bay Area, I love to make a pit stop in Ventura. It's the perfect place to stretch your legs out. And if you're looking for a little more to get your heart rate up, Ventura Botanical Gardens offers a lovely stroll-style hike to unwind from the one-hour-plus drive. The grounds are a mix of tiered levels, winding walkways, and lots of exotic plants. There are stretches of shaded areas, but SPF/hats are advised as it's still exposed to the seaside sun & haze. There are quotes carved in stones along the pathway that are nice to read. And when you get to the top, you get sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. Time it right, and you can watch the sun dip into the sea. Admission is very reasonable. $7/person and FREE on Fridays. Feel free to bring your dog on a leash on Fridays too. I went on a random Tuesday and arrived at 9:15am, close to opening time. There was lots of free parking near the entrance. That's also where the cutest little gift shop greets all guests. Here, you'll find lots of charming gifts & knick-knacks & small plants to take home too. For those who prefer to lend a hand and yank out the Mustardweed to save the natives, then Tuesdays are a good volunteer day Note: The bathrooms take a little bit of patience. They're built on a septic tank system so just try to follow instructions if you see them posted. According to some intel, permanent bathrooms are in the city's near-future plans. Also note that they are CLOSED on Mondays. So take in all that natural beauty, breathe out all that stress. And make sure you've roamed the gardens enough to work up an appetite. Downtown Main Street is nearby and there's a strip of charming diners, cafes, restaurants, and specialty shops. For the true eco-conscious tree hugger, you'll find stores with handcrafted souvenirs, artisan plant trinkets, and even vintage/used books just about any day of the week. After all, every day is Earth Day, right?

After discussion and the fact that one of the large trees was cracking the cmu wall I got a quote to remove all of the trees and plants (except the roses). After accomplishing that I got more ideas with the clean slate and decided to paint the wall and add a vinyl fence topper for privacy. I am very pleased with the end result. After this project I hired Jose and his crew to do more work at another property. I would highly recommend him.

Everyone else we had spoken with had tried to talk us out of weed barrier because it's a hassle to install. He also was able to understand my vision very well and is knowledgeable about all of the drought tolerant plants we wanted, including asking about different colors and varieties rather than making assumptions and getting the wrong thing for us. José even suggested that they mix a small amount of concrete with our decomposed granite around our raised beds so that we wouldn't have weeds coming up around the beds. It looks great and will save us so much time and work! José was extremely responsive and his estimate was comprehensive and well thought-out. He showed up when he said he would and did great work. I was so impressed with the attention to detail of José and his crew. When they were done, they cleaned up to the point that it was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. One example of how thorough José and his crew were is that they installed some artificial turf, and after installing it, they brought a special brush/roller tool to make the turf stand up properly. José's prices were not low, but they were fair, especially for the immaculate job he did! I will post pictures once the plants grow in a little bit more!

The limited hours of 9 to 12 on Saturday mornings hasn't worked for us in conjunction with other plans on the Oxnard Plain. I was glad to see that they were participating in Ventura County Farm Day, and staying open later than usual. We made it one of the definite stops we planned for the Farm Day activities. It was not what I expected. Good surprise! First, it's tucked into a neighborhood with green belts and a park, which gives a more spacious feeling than I was imagining. It's also not near any other farmland. What they do have is a number of vintage buildings, several plots where they're growing crops, some farm machinery, and more. There's a lot to take in visually. On Farm Day there was an added bonus that a gentleman was operating an old printing press, then giving away the bookmarks he made. They were literally "hot off the presses". He had a wry sense of humor, and it was fun visiting with him. We weren't able to pick up a stamp for the Passport 2 History program, as we never found the rep for the property. We were greeted by volunteers for the SEEAG group, the organization promoting Farm Day. Guess we'll have to go back to enjoy the surroundings one Saturday morning. I recommend this venue for families with kids, as there's lots to see, interesting backdrops for photos, and opportunities to talk about where food comes from, besides Ralph's!
