BIG POSITIVE = GREAT OUTCOME. Commonwealth does 3 dozen Cataract Surgeries a day giving Doctors lot's of practice that provides positive outcomes. #2 Staff was always kind, caring & nice. Small Negative = 9 Hours WAITING WAITING WAITING. Asked to show up 15 min prior to Appointment & waited 1 hour in Lobby for first evaluation. Surgery Day it was 2 hours waiting in the Lobby & 1 hour waiting on Bed in Prep Room. Surgery 5 min & another 5 min out the door. Add 1 hour waiting in Lobby for another Doctor to evaluate Surgery the next day results in 9 hours waiting waiting waiting. After my Surgery see clearly, after my experience Commonwealth see clearly is it's all about maximizing Doctor Income lining us up like Cattle..... Evidently CES is of the opinion that if you don't have family or friends in the area that can skip a day or half day of work to stay with you for 4 hours while you get cataract surgery (two days in a row if double surgeries are needed), then you can just go blind for all they care. It's a shame I can't give them negative stars. They could easily fix this by creating a waiver that the patient signs saying they understand the risks and assume full responsibility. Prior to cataract surgery I felt pressured to pay for corrective lens implants which are quite expensive. I was told I was a perfect candidate for the procendure. Meicarenpays for regular lenses. The patient pays for corrective lenses, even if they don't work. After years of evaluation and exams as well as Lasik Years after waiting for hours to leave the office still unable to see, I went back to my Optometrist. I have had amniotic membrane applied to both eyes. My vision is still changling, I also had tear plugs inserted. I wish I had never darkened their door. Office wait time for follow up visits was up to a 4 hour wait. read more

my vision went from 20/60 to 20/20 less than 24 hours after my surgery. From the first visit to my actual procedure everyone was professional and helpful along the way. I wish I could remember everyone's name who helped me but Julia and Cindy went out of their way checking in on me and keeping me informed. Dr. Ferguson yanked my head during surgery MULTIPLE times which hurt my neck that had been previously operated on and did not speak to me kindly AT ALL. I was sedated obviously and is not my fault if I don't understand things while under sedation. Do not go here. read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Ferguson and Dr. Smith. I had cataract surgery on my right eye in June and chose the laser treatment to also correct my astigmatism. I was very happy with the results. So when a cataract started to form in my left eye I went back six months later and had the other eye done. The staff is very professional and efficient. The procedure is easy and doesn't take much time. Recovery time for me was very short and the staff checked in with me regularly. I would highly recommend having any procedure at Commonwealth! read more

Simply the best! The ENTIRE staff is professional, friendly, and competent. They put you at ease, ask all the right questions, and allow you to ask questions as well. They work like a team and it is impressive to see the high team morale. This has to be the result of good management. I am so glad I came here for my cataract surgeries. Both surgeries were painless and successful. If I had one suggestion it would be to have a few extra-large chairs in the waiting room for us heavy people. Have not had surgery yet. I had a 10am appointment today and it's now 2:30pm and I'm still here waiting on the doctor. They have shifted me from room to room and gave me some drops and I am Now waiting on a doctor to come in and see if I am a candidate for lens replacement. I've been in this particular room for over an hour without anyone even checking on me. The wait time is really frustrating & ridiculous. I've been here since 10am and still don't have any information and have not met with the doctor. read more

I heard the add on the radio for a "free" consultation. I went for the "free" consultation and was told it would be around $6000. I opted not to have the procedure done. I just received a bill from them for the "free" consultation. I guess "free" doesn't really mean free? Do not recommend!! read more

Terrific eye center! I went here based on their reputation and the recommendation of several physicians. Additionally, I wanted to be near my cardiologist at Baptist Hospital. I needed cataract surgery on both eyes, with simultaneous Lasik surgery to correct vision and astigmatism. They did left eye one Thursday and right eye the following Thursday; I couldn't be happier! Fast, easy, I can see great for the first time in many, many years and only need readers for close work. The staff was professional and caring and my surgeon, Dr Wortz was excellent. Had cataract surgery performed on both eyes. One did great the other one very poorly. When I contacted them they said it was due to not upgrading the lens. Pretty sad but with them it's all about money. You are rushed through the whole process no questions answered there just referred back to the patients eye doctor. More than you want with Cataract Surgery - Elective procedure with out of pocket cost whether you want it or not. Want Laser Surgery rather than the Knife? Then you are going to get Laser with RCS Upgrade or Laser with RCS Toric. The RCS procedures are Elective Procedures not covered by Insurance, therefore you are going to Pay Out Of Pocket around $1700 and/or around $2200 per eye. Just say Laser and open you pocketbook. The facility is nice, well run, and clean. The testing and surgery are efficient. The results are what you would expect after cataract surgery - you can see again. But if you are expecting you insurance to pay for the Laser Cataract Surgery - go somewhere else. read more

I dont know much about this place. I just had to take my mom in here for a eyelid raise surgery so she can open her eyes enough to see. From what I read, they are lasic folks here. I myself am still scared to get lasic. That whole eye ball flap kinda scares me. Maybe one day I will be brave. This place was easy to find and had a very clean and quite waiting room. Went to the first initial screening. I live 2 hours away. Scheduled me for an extensive testing 2 weeks later. Another 2 hours. When I go back to the room the lady asked me if I have heard of presbyopia. I said no. I can have surgery but I would still have to wear glasses to see up close because of my age. Would have been nice if someone had told me that before. The first visit I was under the impression that I was going to find out if I could be a candidate. But had to make a second trip to be told in a matter of 60 seconds that I would still have to wear glasses. Poor communication on their part. read more

My stepmother had LASIK here after cataract surgery and I can say she had top notch care. Apparently she had some really challenging conditions with her eye and she was lucky that Dr. Ferguson was her surgeon. He is the go to surgeon for LASIK in Central Kentucky, just ask around.
