I had checked out other Montessori schools in the area and I knew in my heart when I saw Datzyk that it was the right choice for us. Linda, the owner, is a gem of a person. I still miss her in our lives to this day. She exposed my child to the French language and put her heart and soul into the children. I don't understand the one negative review. I never experienced anything like that at all at the school. If my child were doing something wrong, I would actually *want* the school to scold and correct the behavior as this is what I would also do at home as I would hope/like other parents to do. Unfortunately, there were some privileged kids here who repeatedly caused trouble so I'm glad if the school tried to take a role in shaping a child's role in knowing they are not always the center of the universe and that life has rules. I found this school to be the perfect launch pad for my child to start at public school. My child was/is way ahead in public school. Did I always think the teachers were perfect? No. Did I always agree with how they handled things? No. But I liked the fact that they did not allow indulged, non disciplined kids to just get away with anything. I respected the rules and goals they had overall. I also got positive feedback about my child so I don't understand the reviewer who said they only tell you negatives. I felt they had my child's best interests at heart. I would definitely recommend the school. My child thrived and was very happy there. And, by the way, it is *good* for children to get outside as much as possible. The Waldorf school has kids outside every single day. I can't imagine complaining about my child being allowed to go outside even if the weather was not my idea of perfect. I don't get the comment about kids' religion and food. There are many cultures and ethnicities and backgrounds at this particular school. Many of the kids come from a particular background. If anything, my child, being in the minority, experienced kids (not teachers) making fun of our Americanized food. The school never discriminated against any ethnic group and many times I heard them express appreciation for the multicultural nature of their school. And, if you don't like the fees of a school, don't enroll your child there. No one is forcing you.

Toddler teachers are not trained to be patient enough to handle young kids. During my enrollment, I experienced conduct by a school employee that I believed crossed professional boundaries and made me uncomfortable continuing in the program. As a result, I ultimately withdrew from the school. Afterward, I made repeated good-faith efforts to resolve the matter directly with the school. I communicated with management, participated in a formal demand process, and provided a detailed written statement when additional information was requested. Despite those efforts, I have yet to receive a meaningful resolution. I am sharing this review because I believe prospective students should know that, in my experience, resolving serious concerns after they arise has been extremely difficult. I remain willing to resolve this matter professionally and hope the company will engage in a constructive dialogue.

We enrolled our son at The Hillside School in second grade. He was there for three years then re-enrolled in seventh grade to help pilot the middle school program. The strategies he was taught in reading and writing along with skills in meta-cognition and self-advocacy have successfully supported him through high school and he will graduate in June. He was recently re-evaluated by our local school district in preparation for college admission. While he will always have a learning difference, he has tested out of needing specially designed instruction and hence an IEP. The faculty and staff at The Hillside School have consistently guided us with compassion and respect. Our investment in our son's education in his elementary and middle school years has been worth the time, effort and money put forth. My gratitude for Hillside is deep and wide. We celebrate our son's strengths every day and look forward to a bright future.
