Review #100 - 2020 Since the coronavirus started, my son has been home so his hair didn't bother him too much until his graduation day because he had to take a bunch of pictures. My son has always been very good at keeping his haircut to every 2-3 weeks, depending on his regular barber's schedule. Sadly, it's been over three months since he had his last haircut so I decided to schedule an appointment for him online before our mini getaway. He was scheduled for 4:15 PM on Saturday, June 13th. However, we went to lunch & it didn't look like we were going to get seated for a while so I decided to call Damon, out of common courtesy, to let him know that we might run a little late. He didn't seem very happy about it at all. He actually tried to make me feel guilty that he had came in for 3 hours and didn't have any customers just because of my son's appointment. I'm not sure how that was my fault, but we ended up showing up about 10 minutes early. My son showed Damon a photo of what style he wanted and Damon glanced at it for a split of a second and told him, "I'll do you right!" My son was pretty disappointed that his haircut didn't come out exactly how he wanted, especially since his cousins started making fun of him. Teenagers can be pretty cruel. Luckily, my son's a good-looking young man so I told him, "hair will grow back so don't worry too much about it." The reason I'm giving 3-stars is because the haircut itself wasn't too bad, but the fact that it wasn't what my son wanted is pretty disappointing. What an experience. I first saw this place when I was enjoying a delicious slice of pizza at Sizzle Pie. I walked right in, and was immediately greeted by Bob. He made me an appointment right then and there on the spot. Appointments are 10 days in advance by the way. I decided I wanted to treat myself to a cut and a straight razor shave. I made the right decision. The day finally came and Bob was waiting for me. I told him my preference. I like short haircuts that maximize the amount of time between my next haircut. Many barbers would take this as a chance to just buzz the heck out of my head and then send me on my way in 5 minutes. Bob doesn't do things this way. He took his sweet time on every quadrant of my head. He gave me an amazing fade (even though I didn't ask for it) and the end result was fabulous. Then came the shave. This was the part I was anticipating. We started with a hot towel, face massage, and exfoliating face scrub. I totally didn't see that coming. Lying on the barber chair, hot towel on, I felt weightless. 100% relaxation that I have only every felt before at a spa. Once the face was prepped and the cream was on, the man danced his straight razor across my face like a master samurai. I had absolutely no reason to worry about my protruding Adam's apple. He got every single hair. There was even a second hot towel in the middle and a final hot towel before he sent me on my way. I didn't even mention the atmosphere. Incredible. I love the teal theme. It's my favorite color. There are animal heads on the walls, chill people walking in and out, and great music playing. The conversation was great between me and Bob as well. We had a lot in common, and he mentions he keeps notes on his clients so he can catch up when you return. I found my new regular barber! read more

After MANY attempts at walking in to multiple barber shops and finding nothing but full waiting areas and no future appointment booking capability, I was dejected and knew I'd live out my days a shaggy mess. I remembered that I ventured by a cool looking barber shop in the Little Portland area this week and noticed the words "By Appointment Only" above their website. Since all of my other attempts at getting a haircut had failed this week, I was sure that website was going to have a phone number I would have to call or, maybe, a website with appointments available weeks out. I was SO pleasantly surprised to see online appointment scheduling and good availability. It was like I had died and gone to heaven when I found a same day appointment and got the confirmation email. The pleasant surprises didn't stop there. The space is super clean and modern, the vibe is cool, the music is great. I had made my appointment with Joe who asked what I wanted to do with the mess of my hair and beard and he translated my wishes into the best haircut I've had in years. Joe and the rest of the barbers are extremely friendly and make you feel welcome and included as soon as you walk in the door. They do a quality job for sure and I'd recommend them for that. However, for me, their customer service is slightly lacking. Cancellations of appointments 15 minutes prior, hard to book appointments, confusing "waitlist" and the barbers have been minimally friendly. Let me start off by saying coming to this barbershop was definitely me taking a chance. I've learned over the years finding a good barbershop is hit or miss. There's always a 50/50 chance your hair is going to get botched. Walking in right away I was greeted by everyone even while they were with their clients. I had an appointment with Mike at 11. I sat down and right away he asked if I had an appointment, said yes and Mike was sure to let me know he'd be with me asap (he was still with someone, however, I was pretty early) told him that was perfectly fine, which even if it wasn't too bad I would never make someone feel rushed. As soon as he was done cleaning up he called me into the chair and was warm welcoming and genuinely kind. He didn't mention how new he was to barbering but had incredible confidence when I told him that as I was going in for. He started the cut and began great conversation. He built amazing rapport and was engaged the entire duration of the haircut. After the cut Mike was great told me how much (which was about the same as I paid at sports clips) and I was done. He definitely gained a new customer and I look forward to having a regular barber again. Worth the price and the drive for me (coming from Fallon) the shop itself is very nice and well designed. The cleanliness was great which is also very important. As I mentioned before, the staff that was there, INCREDIBLE AND FRIENDLY! I'm sure the rest of the barbers there are just as great. 20/10 would highly recommend coming to the shop and going to any barber in there. read more
