oh my god this place is NYAAAASTYYY…read more most sandwiches are fine, but the avocado tastes like chemicals and the manager is so insanely rude!!! the interior is always empty besides people getting their sandwiches and getting out of there (me too girl) ... in other words, the ambiance is non-existent also, before the remodel, this place looked super gross. still kinda does.

I would have given 5 stars a few months ago but a few things have changed. First, this location,…read moreaccording to the Subway app and online site say that you do NOT honor any Subway promotions and coupons and that isn't right. However, I have been inside to order many times and received helpful tips on what was a better deal for what I wanted to get and the sandwiches were always made perfectly. I always left a tip as well. Last week I sent my mother in to get two sandwiches. She cannot hear well at all so I wrote everything down on paper. I don't know how hers turned out but here is how mine went: I wanted a footlong steak and cheese with extra meat, double pepper jack cheese, bacon, tomatoes, onions, pickles, black olives and jalapenos. Here is what I got: 4 pcs of cheese, not 12 for a 12" Double Cheese, 2 pcs total of bacon, not 4 for a 12", exactly two slices of tomatoes, three small half rings of red onions. 2 pickles, 3 or 4 jalapenos, and not even one black olive. My mom is too short and too deaf to know what is going on around her but I WROTE everything out so she could hand it to you. I even said to warm the meat and bacon and melt the cheese but don't toast it. At least you got that right.

Oh. My. GOODNESS! This place is full of charm. We dined here for lunch today and I was so excited…read moreabout our experience that I had to review it ASAP to get the word out. Our town is very fortunate enough to have these sisters back together in business. They have only been open for about 3 weeks now and are already popular. This is such a lovely place to spend time with your girlfriends, sisters, mothers, grandmothers as it just oozes everything fun and vibrant about women. The décor is vibrant, whimsical and as the name suggests, bohemian. You can't help but smile when you walk into the historical home (please read their website about the history). They have a limited food menu, but there really isn't a need for anything larger. They have perfected 4 sandwiches with croissants, homemade breads and wonderfully thick slices of meat. The condiments are the standard and your taste buds will be happy for it. They have a wonderful selection of teas as well as other beverages and a couple specialty drinks on their menu. Accompanying the sandwiches are 3 side choices and it's a hard choice. The sides themselves, put together, would be a fun meal. To end it all, they have already taken feedback from customers and made dessert bites that are perfect. Today's special was a pineapple and cherry dessert served in a wine glass. This place is perfect for special occasions, small events, ladies lunch and of course - treat yourself! I for one can't wait to take my mother here. They are currently open Thursday - Saturday 10am to 3pm by reservation only. This is mainly due to the limited parking.

About a 40 min drive from West Des Moines, but definitely doable if you want to step outside of the…read moremetro a little. Tojo's is a cash or check place (no cards). There is an ATM available on site. It's obviously a mostly local spot, but I've heard their tenderloin is legendary. It's literally labeled "famous" on the menu. Jamaica is a small town (193 people as of 2021) with a Main street composed of less than ten or so buildings. Tojo's sits right across from their post office. It's easy to find. When you enter the restaurant you step through the outside door into a mud room, and then through another solid door to the dining area. It's seat yourself. Our server and the cook were at a table visiting as we walked in and greeted us right away. It's seat yourself. We picked a booth and sat down. Seating here is a mix of booths along the wall, tables and chairs, and stools at the bar. It's an old school rural Iowa bar and grill and it's got typical laid back old school rural Iowa ambience. We both had to do the Famous Tenderloin. We also ordered Nashville hot cheeseballs and mushrooms along with our drinks. Our drink orders were taken right away and our food orders shortly after. Everything hit the table fresh out of the fryer hot after a short wait. If you're a tenderloin fan this is a must try and you need to make the drive. Plate sized, a little thicker, and the breading brings Nick's or The Lucky Pig to mind if I had to compare it to others. You're asked if you want onions, pickles, lettuce, and tomato. Mustard and ketchup are provided on the table. Mayo is available if you're a sick person (like my gf). Lol Unless I can get a little chili and cheese I stick to the holy trinity. Onions, pickles, and mustard. A surprise was the Nashville hot cheeseballs. For cheeseballs these bring the heat. Unlike pepperjack, jalapeño, and other variations of cheeseballs the spice is in the breading. It builds. One...you can taste it. Two...it's really obvious. Three or four in a row...FIRE! It's not going to torch you but you're definitely going to feel the burn. I mentioned it's cash or check only right? We paid and continued on our trip up to our destination in Carroll. We reached our first stop and we were missing a wallet... A quick phone call revealed it had been left in Jamaica. They'd even already made a Facebook post trying to locate us! A couple of quick questions to identify it and they let us know it was secured and we could pick it up on our way home. Most of us carry our lives in our walllets and our phones anymore... We changed plans and headed right back to grab that wallet and ended our trip in Jefferson rather than Carroll before heading back to the metro. Side note: If you're into antiques and thrifting check out Gilroy's Antiques in Jefferson. The owner is 95, sweet as apple pie, and will unfortunately be closing her business next summer. Art deco glass, vintage dinnerware, vintage tools, smalls of every kind, furniture, etc. A real hidden gem of a shop. I'm thankful to the staff at Tojo's who took care of us today...above and beyond. Definitely a five star tenderloin and service! https://www.facebook.com/Tojos-Bar-Grille-308512123061732/?mibextid=LQQJ4d
