Cafe is very cute and quiet to study! The music isn't loud at all, the baristas are super friendly, and there's a lot of space! If you're a student like me, then you'll appreciate the free wifi, outlets, and bathroom. Their loaded bagel was pretty good for a cafe and their lemonade is so tart and delicious! I recently went to CGH on Aug. 30th - I asked for a 12oz regular iced tea and everything croissant - the server Matt asked if I wanted an earl grey tea, I said no I'll have a regular black tea [which I've gotten in the past]. He pulls out a small cup [6oz] of black tea, I say yes and before I could finish my sentence, he asked me if I would like the tea that is a lesser price!!! For starters, I asked for a 12oz cup of regular black tea, not earl grey which BTW he ended up giving me even though I didn't ask for it! Secondly, why are you informing me about prices when I did not ask! And I was charged a service charge even though I paid CASH!!! I stopped by this place while visiting family, chasing their overnight oats. The oats were really good, and surprisingly affordable. The place was so cute I decided I'd eat my breakfast there. Well, I liked it so much I went home and brought my stuff to work remotely from Common Good. The next day I showed up again. Karina remembered me, quoted me my orders from the day before, and gave me a loyalty card. I felt comfortable in the shop, with funky r&b mixed with oldies and others. The cook behind the counter - whose name I didn't get - was also friendly but not intrusive, which I appreciated. Made it back today for day 3. Was sad not to see my dear friend Karina (we're besties now, basically), but my cook friend was there, along with two other staff members. I had my overnight oats for a third consecutive day, and tried the pumpkin spice latte, as well as the grilled cheese panini (add turkey), and a green tea lemonade. This place is fantastic. I'm a huge fan of the fresh flowers and assorted houseplants throughout the cafe, and there's something about that natural light that is truly sustaining. Walking into Common Good lifts my mood before I even sit down with my coffee and snacks. $4 for a nothing-special pain au chocolate is a bit steep, but otherwise the pricing is decent: $1.50/$2.25 for small/medium drip coffee, $6-7 breakfast/lunch items. Everything is premade and just reheated upon ordering, so you may need to request that your dish be heated more -- our frittata was served just barely above room temp and would probably have been tastier hot. read more

Holy God don't go here. I live next door and have seen this place get fancier and fancier and it's quality tank. This place has the gaul to charge Starbucks prices for terrible coffee and food. I just got an everything crescent and an iced coffee. The crescent is old and stale (at 7:45am. Which means they just kept and sold old pastries and sold them at full price) and the ice coffee tasted like water. Which makes sense cause I've seen them make their iced coffee batch. 10% bottled cold brew qnd 90% water. Go to a bodega. Go to Starbucks. Literally anywhere. I have tried this place multiple times and heard a lot of good things about it. So it does confuse me why each time, the coffee was not great. I'll start off by saying the vibes in there are wonderful, the customer service is pretty great and their pastries do look good (I did not try so I cannot vouch for them). But each time, I felt the coffee was not up to standard. I drink a lot of coffee from many different places so my palate is used to it. I got a regular cold brew, the mint refresher, and a regular latte just to try some variety there. They were all a combo of too milky or stale coffee. I really am trying to not rip on them, I live close by and want to give them business. I go to this coffee shop at least once a week. They have a great selection of teas, they're one of the few coffee shops with more than just green tea! The pastries are pricey, but delicious and the hot cocoa actually tastes like chocolate which is a rare find! They even have hot apple cider, there are so many drink options--I do wish they had more food, I've only tried the chicken panini and it lacked flavor, but it was still pretty good. The service is slow sometimes, but the people who work at the cafe are so lovely that I don't mind. They let you sit and do work all day without asking you to buy more food or drinks, which I really appreciate. I once stayed until closing and the girl behind the counter gave me free pastries so they didn't go to waste. There's just something about Common Good, I'm a graphic designer and I do my BEST WORK when I'm working there. The energy & the space is perfect, they play all the tunes--I'm talking Janelle Monae, Jazmine Sullivan, Tamar Braxton, DESTINY'S CHILD!! The music takes me back, it's straight bops all day! The music is so good, it always smells amazing, it's just a great vibe for anyone who wants to be around good energy. If you're in Harlem you should definitely visit. I'm lucky enough to live only blocks away. I encourage local residents to visit Common Good, buy a coffee or two, stay awhile and let's make this cute cafe a Harlem staple!! read more
