This is a great place to spend time with the kids. They've got a playground for toddlers and one for older kids. It's safe and clean and well worth your time. They've also got a little exercise area off to the side for adults and a large grass field for sports. It's well set up and an excellent spot for a fun day. read more

Commodore Park [aka Commodore Cherry Park] is located off of N. Jackson Ave & Commodore Dr in San Jose. While the park has been here for years and has been frequently recommended, it took me waaay too long to finally make the drive out to explore. There is a parking lot but it is extremely small in size. Parking fills up quickly and that leads to illegal parking but looking along the street is also an option if you don't mind some walking. The park itself is broken down into 3 parts: a play structure for younger kids, a structure for bigger kids, and a fitness area. While CP shows clear signs of aging, I absolutely love the design and intricate details of all the cherries. They don't call this "Cherry Park" for nothing!! Every direction you look in, these vibrant fruits will appear. This place is perfect for kids of all ages and can easily entertain the rest of the fam. The park is spacious, has plenty of seating throughout the park, and CP even has a small trail to enjoy a leisurely stroll. 5/5 stars. read more

Brought my baby to his first park visit and chose this one based on a friend's recommendation. Though he is too young to enjoy what it has to offer, I think we appreciated the beauty and cleanliness the most. The water fountain didn't work so bring your own water. I didn't need to use the public restrooms because we didn't last longer than 30 minutes. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was not busy. In the small amount of time, there were a few little kids, some funny teens, and a few dog parents. I love the cherry theme and the two playgrounds for various ages. we frequent this park and in our household, we call it "The Cherry Park" Right off the corner of Jackson and Commodore Dr. you'll find the park and a small parking lot next to it. This parks also leads up to a trail which we have not been so we're not exactly sure where it goes or how far it goes. the park itself is very cute, cherry themed all around. There are swings and slides for kids. There are two play structures, one for older kids and one for little ones (under 5 yr old) There's also an area with exercise equipment. The only drawback about this park is that there are no shades for parents. It can be extremely hot in the Summer. read more

Super cute small park I discovered today riding from the new Bart station toward the Penitencia Creek and beyond. I have to admit that what made me stop was these big cherries (seats) so playful and cute. The theme is cherries so as per other reviews this is popularly known as Cherry park. I liked the vibe. Perfect for small kids and also adults as the workout station is one of the coolest I have seen, especially because you get so much space in the background I think it must feel so great to work out there. Not many spots in the parking lot, looks very much for the locals, which makes it cozier and neighborhoodie. read more

My neighbors and I really enjoyed taking a long walk to the park but now there's no joy since they closed off the playground, the fitness zone so much for workout and they even placed a cover net over the bench seats. Just a casual walk so long you keep your social distancing of 6 feet apart and the park was quite empty so sad wonder how long this will last. read more

This is a nice new park that has been here for a few years. It has workout stations, nice play ground for the kids. My kids love playing here. Only down side to this little park is there is no restrooms and parking is kind of limited. On hot days this park not to good cause there's not a lot of shad. I give this park 3 and a half stars but I'm putting 4 cause I'm a guy and I have two sons and if they really got to go there's brush's all over. read more

Found a re-creation area where kids of all-ages can have fun. This is where play is simply is but what your imagination can bring you ... boundless and limitless! Convenient. Close enough to run to. This newly opened neighborhood park is just what the city of San Jose needs more of: free space and anything to promote a healthy lifestyle. The park caters to all ages as there is a play area designated for your little Littles. Another area for your bigger Littles...and drum roll...a Fitness area where 14 and olders can get their work out on on the fitness equipment. What's cool is there are details and descriptions on each apparatus explaining how each contraption works and what muscles are being targeted. Still very clean and spacious. Lots of grassy areas to play catch, volleyball or soccer in. Walk your dog here too, just pick up the poop, please. Parking lot along the side with ample areas also available to park your bike or scooter. The ice cream man rolls through here too. Feeling like a kid again *le sigh* read more

This park is so cool it has workout gear stations that you use your own weight. They have machine type stations that are similar to elliptical machines you see at the gym. Two separate playgrounds and seating with tables and one of the tables has its own umbrella. Water fountains although one of them looks overflowed and I'm not sure if they work. Parking is available right next to the park. Limited parking. Looks like they have lighting for when it is dark but I personally have not driven by at tonight. The ground is the soft foam type ground where if you fall then you will not break anything. The streets nearby are not too busy either it is close to a residential neighborhood. read more

This place is great for the little ones. We just visited the park today and they had such a great time playing the the little area, the big kids area, and even the fitness area. The park has minimal parking so if it fills up then you will need to park on the street. Everything is nice and new so it is very clean. I hope it stays this way so everybody can continue to enjoy the new park. read more

A decent park close to home, so we would frequent this spot. There's a small parking lot with less than 10 parking spaces, so either come during off peak hours, be prepared to wait, or park down the street somewhere in the neighborhood. There's a man or a group of men who are usually there playing and singing live music! It's nice to have something to listen to as you're waiting for your children to play. It's usually busy here, but the children don't seem to have any issues on the play structures. There's even an area with a few workout equipment. This park is small, but a good enough size to accommodate two separate play areas. It is very family friendly, although I wouldn't want to stick around after the sun sets. read more

My children love this park! It's really clean and well kept compared to all the other parks nearby (like flickinger and penitencia). HOWEVER, there are not restrooms and there is little parking. It's not a large park, but the parking lot and the playground itself gets packed pretty quickly. Even on weekdays. It's pretty clean, I don't see trash floating around. Everyone here is happily playing, riding bikes or tricycles. I even see a family constantly carrying on a soccer game. The grass is green. The park is easy to keep an eye out on your children. I really like how there is a cherry theme to this park. There are two baskets of fake cherries and also a cherry selling stand. The toddler playground is all low to the ground and really safe. You do not need to worry about high ledges and drop offs. However there is only one bucket swing and another swing. There is a playground for older kids and an exercise area. There is absolutely no shade so be prepared with sunscreen and hats for both you and your kids. read more

If, traveling by bus I believe there is a bus stop near to the park that is walking distance. There is a fitness zone area with excercise equipment. The play structures are split in two areas. Kind of funny, me and my little sister have been saying for YEARS that we needed a park in that big empty field and now we see it before our eyes! We've lived in Commodore drive for a while and it's just what we needed. Now I can take my dog here or just go for a walk. The only qualm I have is: Why so small?! There is plenty more space in that field to keep building. I was really hoping for a dog park too. But nonetheless, I'm thankful and I was so touched to we the grand opening and TONS of families coming out that day. Hope they continue to expand. :) read more

This park is brand new and I wish it were about 3 times the size. Its clearly needed in the community because it is always packed! It's conveniently located so we do a little after dinner walking to the park in the evenings. Word of Caution: Drivers zip by on Commodore SUPER FAST! I am on a quest to find the best park in San Jose. Commodore Park (aka in my family is known as Cherry Park for the theme of a cherry farm) is IMO the best park playground in San Jose for kids to play. The only reason for the four star review is the lack of parking. I just don't get it; this park has the best and latest design of play equipment and only about ten slots for parking. What gives San Jose? Who are the morons on the San Jose playground park planning and design committee? Seriously, this is the best designed park I have seen yet and it has the worst parking. There is a huge empty field next to it. Could our tax dollars not afford a few extra feet of parking? Anyway, I would highly recommend this design to be duplicated across San Jose. Until I find a better playground, Commodore Park in San Jose is our family favorite. read more
