Food was really very good, and the staff was so awesome! So when we were in Salem over the weekend and we had tossed JT's around a couple of times we were pulling into a local brew pub and BINGO! There was the big blue truck! Got to see and visit with the owners (and mom, Hi MOM!) which was great. They are always so nice and it was really nice to talk to them again. And we did order some snackage. Got some of the the egg rolls, but not your typical egg rolls and some Korean BBQ tacos (I think). I wasn't hungry but ate mine and my wife's share. Good, good, good!

The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. Everyone greeted us with a smile, took the time to explain the menu, checked on us throughout the meal, and made us feel genuinely welcome. I ordered the tandoori chicken, and it was fantastic, freshly grilled, juicy, well-seasoned, and a generous portion. My boyfriend got the chicken tikka, and the creamy sauce was rich and delicious. We also ordered the cheese naan, which is great, it was warm, cheesy, and like an elevated quesadilla. Overall, everything was flavorful, the service was outstanding, and it's easy to see why this place is a Salem staple. We'll definitely be back!

You can eat inside there or there's a shaded outside eating area between the bar and the food cart. I went with the Slangers Style burger, which comes with white cheddar, smoked Oaxaca cheese sauce, Slangers Sauce and fried pickled red onion. I got mine with two patties. This burger was unctuously rich and super saucy. I think, for me, two patties was a bit much. I removed one of the patties and the flavors of all the components came through a bit more pronounced and balanced. So, I would stick with one patty on my next visit. Because I dislike wasting food, I also ate the extra patty by itself, and it was great and well-seasoned. The fries were delicious as well: hearty with bits of potatoes skin and fried to a perfect crispness. I will absolutely be back as this is one of the best burgers I've had in Salem!

By the time my uncle and I made it over to 'The Yard' Mr. Tukufu had already sold most of his food, it had apparently been a very good day for him, understandably so. Nevertheless, we ordered some leg quarters and he kindly obliged despite appearing to be worn out from the long day. When we came back around to pick up the food I was shocked at the size and weight of the take out bag that was given to us. Mr. Tukufu had certainly hooked us up and when we got back to the hotel we had an absolute feast. I am confident in saying this was the best soul food I have ever had. You could tell it was made with love and sincerity. Thank you to Mr. Tukufu for being so generous, it was not lost on us. We look forward to seeing him again the next time we are in Salem. While La Carreta de Mi Tierra (#1) has been quietly blowing up the taco street scene in Salem, just…read moreacross the street lies Los Pinos, an older, more traditional taco truck where tastiness and authenticity go hand in hand. Some would say this is the best street taco experience in the city, which is hard to argue, especially when the tacos are this good. Their tacos are around $1.50-$2.00 each, which beat the competition in terms of pricing but I trust this price will catapult in a very short time. Their version of carnitas are stewed and fried to perfection and their lengua / al pastor is fantastic. When available, their fish tacos are worth every dime, though they are a $1 more. It's not all tacos, they also serve a decent variety of burritos, quesadillas, and tortas. They're very good about stuffing every morsel of food into the tortilla / bread, which is abundant in its own right. Do not forget to use as much of their condiments to really enhance the flavor. Thankfully, it's never too busy here and the staff is super friendly. The last time I checked they were still cash only and parking is extremely limited. They've done well to attract a lot of local clientele, many of whom visit the truck during the late hours into the evening. There is some seating with these makeshift tables, but I prefer to take my food to go. When it comes to Los Pinos and their wonderful variety of street inspired food, everyone wins. _________________ (#1) https://www.yelp.com/biz/la-carreta-de-mi-tierra-salem

The guy who took our order and put everything together was really nice and patiently listened to how we wanted the tacos and burritos - no beans, etc. First bite was close your eyes good. You get what you pay for when it comes to food and I am happy to pay for fresh food like this! They had many healthy options and this is authentic Thai. I think people forget that food trucks are restaurants too and so it takes time for your food to come out... it's worth the wait. I appreciate that the heat level was customizable on the papaya salad as well! Could definitely go up a spice level but was cautious because Thai spicy can be on another planet. So anywho... I would bathe in that tamarind sauce if they let me buy it by the vat. It was phenomenal. Im a fan! Can't wait to go back and try more things!
