Stopped here about 30 min before closing and glad I made the super last minute decision to do so!…read moreIt's an old jail, but also the living quarters of the sheriff and his family. The first floor has historical artifacts from the area, and the top three or four floors are the jail. It is super creepy up there but fascinating. It seems so old, and it is, but it was also used up til the 1980s! Absolutely worth the $5 entry (cash only). Take the 5 min walk from the beautiful town square and check it out! It would probably only take you 30min to 45min to see fully.

The owner of a small but cool store suggested it saying it needs better advertising and the reviews prove that. Lately I have tried to make my reviews a bit more fun and story like but I have to say while I'm glad we saw this is feels wrong to be frivolous or fun. This is a depressing place and thinking that actual people were locked up here angers you or makes you sad. A small heads up we didn't have, there is a monument out front to "Our confederate soldiers". We got caught off guard. Inside we were greated by a kid running the show. Friendly but awkward. He tried to engage conversation but it felt forced. I personally got the impression he either doesn't normally do this or interact with people or he was told to engage more by the company he works for, still he tried. They have T-Shirts for sale. Larger sizes not available. A book of clearer photos of the graffiti in the cells from the time of its use and a book of stories of people who visited that had been locked up there were available. It is all self guided. No signs for tours or even headphones with the story. Everyone can just go anywhere including children. This opens up some issues. The hand railings on the stone and metal steps are adult height. There is debris around, evething is metal so children running free could be easily hurt. Also unless the parent explains to the kid the overall concept may not hit. They have recreations of rooms that cattlemen families or important people in the county. Also maybe family of the jailers. It wasn't very clear and the descriptions are in the rooms where you can't go. Also various other historical pieces which we took pictures of to post here. The stairs going up are crowded, low ceilings. Steps seem smaller then modern ones and it was foreboding looking up where you were headed. As Shana said you felt tall even though you know you aren't. The cells felt claustrophobic even when you weren't locked up. Upstairs are the cells and man is it depressing. Awful to imagine people were here. It's hot, cramped, all metal including the beds and tables. It's hard to convey in words The feeling of hopelessness there. Then through in the graffiti from that time. It all looks ancient but this ran until 1983! There were several floors of two person cells. They had a dumb waiter to deliver food. The top floor had a slight difference in the cells there had a two door system coming out of the cells. I wonder if the more violent offenders may have been locked up there on that floor. Overall a interesting if depressing look at how we treat people who commit any type of crime. I'm glad we came but it would not be for everyone.

A great wealth of knowledge about pretty much every clock in the museum. If you get a chance, come learn and talk with him; you'll be happy you did and you'll have learned much more about how various types of clocks work. Lots of cuckoo clocks, grandfather clocks, weight driven clocks, pendulum clocks of different variations, from different eras. Mickey Mouse and Angry Birds to inaccurate water driven clocks from the 1600s to faux-mercury pendulum clocks, which would have been business scam against real mercury pendulum clocks. Many clocks allow you to see how their internal gearing is set up. They do clock restorations and clock repairs. There are some really neat time keeping devices here. Certain devices can also be purchased.

The US, England, Germany as well as some cool stories behind many of them. They had a clock from P.T. Barnhem, a saved clock tower, and they take donations to restore other clock towers. It's very cool and interesting. The PT clock was restored to work when cranked. The types ran from grandfather to cuckoo and pocket watches as well as time clocks and sun dial types as well as Egyptian style obelisk. They had a guy who had donated many of the clocks gave tours and were full of knowledge. As Shana noted both the lady at the desk and the guide were enthusiastic and so friendly. She loved how the people made this even better. The enthusiasm spread to us. Overall this was even cooler and more interesting then it sounds. On the outside a museum of clocks and watches sounds like it could be boring but so many types and the backgrounds as well as the restoration project made this place a stand out. They also have quite a few clocks for sale. No where for us to put one but some cool options. Don't let time pass you by. This is worth checking out.

Great Concrete Slabe and Pergola, Patio Extension, but Room for Improvement in Communication…read more We hired 3:12 Custom Exteriors during the height of summer to handle our patio extension, and we are thrilled with the results. After reaching out to multiple companies for bids, Ryan contacted us after finding our info through Facebook marketing--kind of spooky, but it worked out! We quickly scheduled a meeting, and after discussing our needs, we had a solid plan in place. While Ryan wasn't the cheapest option, what initially stood out was that he was the only company to set the pergola's pillars on concrete pillars, ensuring stability. He also handled all of the electrical work, which was a relief since half the bids from other companies would've just referred us to outside electricians after the structure was built. Once the agreement was signed, it was a waiting game for the weather to clear up--Texas weather can be so unpredictable with heat waves and rain. The project moved at an adequate pace, considering the circumstances. Although I didn't interact with the concrete team due to my work schedule, I did meet the pergola build team, and their service was fantastic. We now love our backyard space more than ever! It's perfect for hosting get-togethers, and we spend most mornings and evenings out there. Before, we only had a small 10x10 patio that barely fit our BBQ equipment, so this extension has really transformed the space. My only critique would be the communication. There were brief periods of very poor communication with Ryan. Sometimes, I had to resend questions more than once and waited days for a response. When you're in the middle of a big project, this can add a lot of stress, especially when trying to plan and make sure appliances and fixtures are ordered on time. That said, the end result was fantastic, and we are very happy with the work and all the companies involved. I would still recommend Ryan and 3:12 Custom Exteriors, and I hope he considers improving communication to ease the minds of future customers during big projects.

I was told he has issues with multiple businesses and some folks have reached out to complain directly to me. Now with continuing work we are finding tons of mistakes and having to hire folks to fix it.
