Be aware of questionable billing practices at this property. I arrived early after an 18-hour drive and was told I could check in early if I paid a fee. While I understand that early check-in fees can apply, I was told the fee had to be paid in cash only. After paying the cash fee, I was not provided a receipt. When I asked for an itemized receipt at checkout, I was told my balance was $0 and therefore no receipt could be issued. This means there is no documentation that the cash payment was ever made. Requiring cash-only payments and not providing receipts raises serious concerns about transparency and proper business practices. I attempted to resolve this with Choice Hotels customer service, but unfortunately it did not lead to a resolution. Customers should always receive documentation for any payment made. read more

On vacay. We've been on the road for many nights staying at Comfort Inns, Holiday Inn Express's and others. To miss the breakfast rush I have been going down to the lobbies for the "free" breakfast at 9:05. Nope not at the Springfield comfort Suites! They pull all the breakfast foods off the counters promptly at 9:00! I asked for a cup to get an OJ the lady would not oblige. Save yourself the risk of losing time and money, and choose another hotel. I checked into Comfort Suites in Springfield, Ohio on August 16, 2025. We were given Room 208. When we got to the room, the smell of mold and mildew hit us immediately. The unpleasant odor was palpable.   We went back to the lobby to request a room change. We were told there were no other rooms available. We went back to the room in an attempt to "air it out" and make it work. We took off our shoes to settle in, and the source of the stench became immediately clear. The carpet was soaking wet. We could literally see imprints of our feet as we stepped upon it. We went back to the lobby to relinquish the room and request a refund. We could not sleep in a room with a rancid smell and a wet carpet. We were told it was not possible to receive a refund. Due to the fact that we did fulfill our end of the reservation by showing up and checking in, I strongly believe Comfort Suites should uphold their end of the reservation by having an adequate and clean room available to us. If I made a purchase, and the item arrived in an unsatisfactory condition, the item could be returned, and the customer would be refunded. Room 208 (the only room we were given) was in an unsatisfactory condition, and the customer (myself) should be refunded. Don't take the chance of being the next person who won't be. read more

Ok Couldn't get my usual hotel in Yellow Springs (Mills Park Hotel), the entire place was sold out for a wedding. Yellow Springs as usual had a great art fest going on. Green Canteen tonight, Sunrise Cafe in the morning after 30 or our bikes. Ok Comfort Hotel Springfield. One thing nice after an evening of biking, shopping and dinner on a HOT day is to come back to a room that you can crank up the AC in and relax... Not here, had a late 70's pickup idling in our room (noisy) no fan, no alternate room offered. No cold air. Checking out to ride to Xenia and back in the morning . I had an overnight stay to pick up my grandson at Cedarville the next morning. Arriving after dark, I took advantage of the well lit parking and parked in the place reserved for Choice Privileges Elite members as I have been one for many years. The entryway was welcoming and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. I stayed in a king room which was up to date and very clean and comfortable. The highway noise was a bit loud but that would affect all the other nearby hotels as well. The hotel offers a nice breakfast that is standard for Choice Hotels . No discount, no offer to at least Clean it up. In fact while I was talking to the front desk clerk there were two other people there also lodging complaints. The desk clerk told me she had received at least 10 complaints that night. Check my reviews, I'm not just someone who leaves a bunch of negative reviews.This was legit. The lobby is pretty nice, and the rooms are laid lout pretty well, but there are quite a few details that make the hotel look pretty tired. Stains on the carpet, chipped wood in the elevator, cheap doors and old paint in the hallway. That said, it's a pretty comfortable place to stay for a quick trip with a helpful staff. read more

We have stayed at this particular hotel several times over the last few years and have always been satisfied with our room and our stay. The last time a year and a half ago was iffy, but we wrote that off to COVID restrictions. This time there though, we were quite dissatisfied with our stay. I'm not sure if management/ownership has changed, but the changes were obvious from the start. The hotel is convenient to the Interstate, and the price was comparatively reasonable, and the bed was comfortable, and the hot breakfast was good; however, the cleanliness leaves a LOT to be desired. The bathroom shelves were quite dirty and baseboards were also quite dirty -- both needing a good scrubbing. The stopper in the tub was not operable, and I had to jerry rig to allow tub to drain. The non-slip surface in the tub was also in need of repair. I had to ask to have maid service and the request was ignored; and I had to ask the front desk a second day before maid service was supplied. We only had maid service ONE TIME in our six-night stay. The couple working the breakfast bar were very attentive to cleanliness and ensuring breakfast items were adequate. Check in and check out were easy. read more

These places should give up trying to serve anything during covid restrictions and simply lower their prices a bit. After a diligent search, I booked a room for two nights for a getaway with my fiance. When we arrived, we had a considerable wait to get checked in, as the receptionist was on a phone call, and continued taking calls while we stood there waiting to check in. The next day, housekeeping never showed up (no clean towels, wash cloths, etc.); however, ROACHES did show up! We were in the kitchen area getting drinks when a roach crawled across the counter top. We proceeded to seal all food items in hopes not to attract more roaches, and especially in hopes to not take any home with us. I informed the receptionist about the roaches, who gave me a blank look - as if to say "What do you want me to do about it?" After staring blankly at me for a few seconds, she informed me that I would have to talk to the manager, who would be in the next day. She never offered to change rooms or any other resolution, so we waited till the next day to speak with the manager, who it turned out, wasn't there that day. When we checked out, the receptionist told us he would have the manager call us when he was in. As of today (Memorial Day), we are still waiting for that call. So, between the rude and non-helpful receptionist, the absence of housekeeping, and the presence of roaches, we will definitely NOT be going back to this Comfort Suites - there is nothing comforting about roaches and rude receptionists!! Update...the manager never called, so I called and spoke with the manager's wife. She was rude and defensive, and said that since we had a discounted rate, there was nothing they could do for us. I said, "So there is a rate at which roaches are acceptable?", to which she again replied that there was nothing they cold do since we already had a discount. If you are still thinking of booking a room here, I would recommend you ask at which rate are there no roaches. That is absolutely unbelievable...since we had a discount rate, management refused to do anything about the fact that there were roaches in our room, and she altogether ignored the other complaints. read more

Spacious rooms, flawless wifi and very updated rooms, lobbies, elevator and hallways. I loved the separate "kitchenette" like area and all the modern updates and finishes. This was a fairly standard Comfort Suites, in my opinion. When I travel for work, I typically book only in Comfort Suites, despite travelling alone. However, on this trip, my mother was with me. This was actually the least nice room I stayed in on my entire trip across the country, and it would have been the most expensive without points. I'm not quite sure where the spectacular reviews are coming from. The breakfast was standard as was the room. As this was the very last stop on my moving trip from Colorado to Pennsylvania, I was a bit concerned to see the review about a break-in. I had everything I owned in my car, and I really didn't rest well knowing that the hotel had a crime issue. There were no cameras or anything in the parking lot. Additionally, the pool was under construction, and there was no disclaimer about that when I booked the room. Big turn off. There is a Cracker Barrel next door and a gas station close-by if you are exhausted from travelling. Overall, nothing special, but a fine place to stop for the night. read more

BED BUGS = Zero Stars. When I first arrived, I checked in, went to my room and noticed that the room I was given was not the room I booked on Expedia. I had booked a King room, and the room I was given had 2 smaller beds, not a King. I went down to the front desk and told the clerk that it was not the room I booked, and he said he did not give me a king room because the carpet was being replaced in that room and I would not like the new carpet smell. I asked if he could at least give me a room that was a little farther away from the elevator because the elevator was very noisy. So, he gave me another room -- #318. When I went to that room, there was a strong cigarette odor. I decided to see if I could just get used to the smell rather than complain about a room again. After about a half hour or so, I didn't notice the smell so much, unless I went out and came in again. The room was comfortable and seemed clean, but a little worn. I checked the seams around the top of the mattress for bugs, just because I always do, and did not see any signs of bed bugs. I so wish I had done a more thorough check. The next morning when I left the hotel I didn't notice the bites or itchiness until later in the day. When I did notice the bites later that day, I thought at first it could be mosquito bites, although I had not seen any mosquitos where I had been that day. The second day, I had additional bites and more itching, but I still didn't want to believe it could be bed bugs. By the third day, when I had even more bites, I knew it truly was bed bug bites. The bites were extremely itchy, and very puffy, with some blistering, and with multiple bites grouped together. I had one experience with bed bug bites many years ago, so I know what they look and feel like. I went to the front desk and discretely told the person at the front desk about the bed bugs (the same person who checked me in). He did not seem too surprised. He could see the bites on my upper arms which were very puffy and red, and offered to put me in another room. Normally, I would have tried to find another hotel, but I had only 2 more nights left for my stay, and I already had a lot on my plate with other things going on (a family member in the hospital) so I just asked for another room. He also gave me some quarters to put my clothes in the hotel dyer on high heat. He gave me a key to room #325, but said that it was a special room and was booked the following night, so he would need me to move again the next day. I went up to #325, and when I opened the room, there was a profound urine smell. While I was willing to get past the cigarette smell, I didn't think I could handle a urine smell all night. I went back down and asked for a different room. The final room he gave me was #414, and said that he had absolutely no other rooms available. I moved my belongings into room #414, and when I opened the refrigerator door to put my bottles of juice in there, a cockroach ran out! Needless to say, I did not use the refrigerator. I also noticed that the rubber seal on the refrigerator door had black mold in the creases. I knew there were no other rooms and I was too tired and upset to deal with it anymore. I stayed in the room, even though this last room also had some peculiar smell (like old candy, a sweet stale smell, but couldn't figure it out). But, at least I did not get additional bed bug bites while in room #414. When I was leaving the hotel, I asked to use the printer in their business center and the front desk person told me it was broken. Another staff person heard this and said I could use the front desk computer/printer. After printing my flight boarding pass, I asked that staff person if he was the manager, and he said he was. So I told him about the bed bugs in room #318 and about the bad smells in the rooms. He also did not look too surprised, so I suspected they were probably aware of the problems. He went to the computer, typed up some changes to my bill and gave me a credit of about $80, which was less than the cost of one night's stay. I said, "but I stayed in a room with bed bugs for 3 nights!" And he said it was the best he could do. I knew it would do little good to continue my conversation with him, and decided to write to corporate customer service instead. I spent the night of my return home washing all my clothes, putting everything I could in the dryer on high heat, disinfecting my shoes and throwing away my suitcases. A couple days later, I did write to their corporate customer service department. I got a nice well-worded letter back and an offer for 6,000 points towards another stay at a Comfort Inn, roughly equivalent to one night's stay at a non-premium hotel. Not much compensation for all that discomfort. It's a week later, and the bug bites are still itchy and swollen. read more

Rooms and service both quite good. We found the quality of the toilet paper and facial tissues, however, to be quite substandard: rough, to the point that you may experience physical discomfort. We certainly did. So if you're planning to stay here, you are advised to bring at least one roll of your own toilet paper and one box of facial tissues. And be prepared to purchase more locally, if you end up needing more. Yes, I'm aware that these are recycled items but it is possible to get recycled products of better quality. Better quality is definitely needed for purposes of running a good hotel. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Had an event in the area that was canceled due to expected blizzard conditions. The reservation was canceled 48 hours prior and the hotel management insists on charging everyone in the group for 1 night. The hotel employees including the manager Carol and the GM Shane Patel were rude, unreasonable and unsympathetic. It's also important to note that individuals who did not book with the group either separately or online were not charged at all for their cancellation...the hotel only intends to charge those that booked with the group for one night. This is just bad business. I'll definitely remember to pick a different hotel if another horse show is scheduled in this area! read more

This hotel was by far one of my worst experiences. There were dead bugs in the room, and the shower head was broken upon arrival. Then, the morning we left, I realized I left a ring and earrings in the room(my fault I know.) I called ASAP and was told they would be mailed to me. A month later I called, and was told they were in the vault, then later that was changed to already mailed. Two weeks later; still no ring or earrings in my mailbox. Call back and was treated very rudely, and was told it was probably the post offices fault. Cleanliness is not this hotels strong suit; but more importantly treatment of their guests is not a priority. I understand that I made the mistake of leaving my own property, but after being told they had it and not receiving it? I'm convinced they never attempted to return it to me at all. read more

After a terrible and disgusting experience at a nearby hotel, NP made sure we got in at 11pm and helped us book for the rest of the week. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and the breakfast is delicious. Rooms are also cleaned and linens replaced everyday. The pool and gym are fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone. read more

For the value, 5 stars. The staff is great, the rooms are clean, and the breakfast spread is large. There are conference meeting rooms and a pool area, as well as small gym room. My husband and I got the king jacuzzi suite which was nice and large and the jacuzzi tub was wonderful. The bed and sheets were clean and super comfy and the AC worked perfectly; I got a great nights sleep! The breakfast itself wasn't super delicious, but it was included and edible and the woman making certain the area was clean was friendly. Good stop on the way back home! read more

We stayed here on our move across country to Cali and we felt super accommodated. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Loved the continental breakfast!!! That bacon was great. We had this massive truck and car in tow and they let us double Park it and then helped clear cars out of our way so we could turn around the next day. Definitely stop here if you are looking for a nice place in the area. They are in the process of remodeling and should be done soon and the rooms are very spacious and beautifully furnished. You can tell it will be even more lovely when the remodeling is finished. read more

This hotel charged my credit card before my arrival date. They have a 7 day cancelation policy. I had to cancel my reservations after the 7 day deadline. But they charged my card BEFORE I even called them to cancel. I have never had a hotel charge my card days before my scheduled stay. I will not be staying with them in the future. read more

Stayed here for several nights. Wifi Internet comes and goes so don't plan to get any business done on your PC. HVAC was noisy and cycled on and off all night keeping me awake. Breakfast had scrambled eggs sitting in an inch of water every morning. No fruit was available at breakfast but I could see bananas hanging in employee kitchen prep area every day, unavailable to guests. I guess they are saving them for employees or maybe the bananas are plastic. I gave up on breakfast after day 3 and went to a nearby restaurant. Bathrooms are tiny and tub is really nasty with the finish peeling off the tub. My tub had a soft spot in the bottom which was very odd. Toilet seat appeared discolored from wear. Walls have a lot of patched drywall with different color paint. Bed was clean and ok. Room size is okay except small bath. Towels were good. I'm giving one star for crappy internet, which is a basic necessity for us business travelers, along with disappointing breakfast area, and poor quality of bathrooms. Oh. And if you check out early there may be a penalty fee so beware!! Lots of other choices nearby that I will try next time. read more

We are currently staying here and i am extremely disappointed. At first the rooms looked okay besides the tiny bathroom, but after a couple of hours we noticed a couple of ants on our bedside table. we went to get a snack at the front desk that night and the lady working was extremely rude and gave me attitude for wanting a snack and also calling her coworker names. the next morning we were out early and put the do not disturb sign on the door, we came back ready to nap after a long morning and our bed was completely stripped, even an ant on it, we asked the maids that were on our hall if we could have some sheets to make the bed and they said they would be over soon (30 minutes later that is). after we had finished with our day again and came back to our room we then noticed about a dozen ants on our bedside table so this time we called the front desk and they said they would send someone up. someone did come and sprayed stuff on but there was no apologies or really any care about it and if not a few hours later there was still ants. also if you stay here dont plan on eating much breakfast, the only thing that tasted good was the cereal but even that turned me off when i looked closer and saw ants on the counter. if you're the type of person with an "a beds a bed" attitude then this might not be bad for you but if you actually care about customer service, having sheets, a good breakfast, and bugs then you're out of luck. sadly I am currently killing ants as i write this read more

This place got the job done. U.S. Navy on transfer leave. Upon arrival (3 am on a Wednesday) my family and I had been driving all day and we were ready to turn in. The counter attendant (Sam) seemed very uninformed, and didn't know much about the workings of the hotel (when asked for a crib he stated it would be an additional $10, it was no additional charge). We reserved a suite (advertised at $90, charged $95...$110 after taxes) we asked for two days, he reserved 1 but said 2. Upon entering the room, this seemed just like a normal hotel room with a foldout couch, beds were comfortable, but basically just a hotel room with an extra sink, mini fridge, and foldout couch. The morning attendant seemed more knowledgeable, the Free Continental Breakfast was actually very well stocked and put together. The pool was over chlorinated and a little salty (maybe too much salt in the softener or faulty pump) but good temperature. Did laundry ($1.25 wash $1.25 dry) washer worked very well, dryer did not get clothes dry had to dry twice and clothes still damp. Ambience was good but hotel was being renovated so it may be getting better. 3 stars, would have 4 if it was tightened up a bit. read more

More ants continued to come and no solution for the problem was offered. So am I supposed to call him to spray the room each time I see an ant? Some of what happened during our stay is beyond the full control of hotel management; however, I feel compelled to outline our experience for a couple of reasons that I will detail further. Let me start with saying that the hotel itself was acceptable. The room was clean. Renovations are ongoing but did not affect us too much. We did not use the pool or fitness room, but both seemed average at best. I cannot comment on breakfast as we did not see the full spread. For a highway interchange hotel of this class, things seemed to be on par with what one would reasonably expect. Unfortunately, my rear car window was completely smashed out sometime during the night, and property was stolen. Management alerted me to the break in, and was polite and accommodating when asked for assistance. However, I have to say that management seemed almost disturbingly unconcerned. And while management was polite, and one guy working on renovations was helpful in getting the window temporarily covered with plastic, other staff members were not so pleasant. It took fully three attempts to get the police department to even come out to the hotel. The first officer was sympathetic but explained there was nothing they could do. The second officer was very short tempered and said that they simply did not have time to deal with "minor" crimes. The third responding officer, who actually did come to the hotel, did take the time to talk to me - although the officer did not make any attempt to view the car damage. This officer did tell me that I should not stay anywhere at that particular interchange due to the extremely high crime rate, that I would be safe walking over to the next-door Cracker Barrel to eat, and maybe the Bob Evans, but that I should not venture anywhere else. Apparently all of Springfield, OH is having issues with drugs and attendant property crime, but the south end of Springfield - and the area around the interchange especially - is particularly problematic. This information was verified by the repair company I used, and our insurance company. Let me say that I am well traveled and have lived my entire life in an urban area. I generally do not get overly alarmed about security issues. This is the first time a police officer has told me to leave an area as soon as I can. During this particular trip, I happened to be traveling alone with my young son. I am writing this review out of concern for other women and families traveling through the area. I could not drive the car with my son because of the amount of glass everywhere in the car. Because of a string of mishaps, the repair company was not able to finish the repair until nearly 8:00pm. This made for a long night of driving home after a very stressful day. Hotel staff was adamant that there was not room for me to stay an additional night, and did not allow me to stay in our room past 3:00pm - we wound up camping out in the lobby. Hotel management seemed to indicate that a room might be available - but to be perfectly honest, I could not stay another night at the hotel and expect to get any sleep. Had the repair not been completed that evening, I'm not sure what that would have meant for myself and my son, and where we would have spent the night. It was a scary situation that could have gotten a lot worse. Let me also say that I understand that car break-ins are a crime of opportunity and can happen anywhere. With that said, hotel management certainly knows that they are operating a hotel in a high crime neighborhood. When police refuse to even respond to forcible break-ins, there's a problem. When multiple local people are not the least bit surprised, there's a problem. When this is not the only report of break-ins for this hotel, there's a problem. I would suggest to management that they can spend all the money in the world on nice Travertine tile in the lobby. But if guest security is continually at risk, all that tile isn't going to do squat in terms of generating business. Perhaps some actual video surveillance (with very large signs pointing to such), a neighborhood watch coalition, and a positive relationship with local law enforcement is a better use of upgrade money and time. Management did not create the issues leading to the crime problem in the area, but they DID choose to operate a business in that environment. They need to own that. read more

Tonight I attempted to get a room at the Comfort Inn in Springfield, Ohio. I had called ahead and ascertained that rooms were indeed available. I walked in about 8pm., after 9 hours on the road, and attempted to book in. The manager saw my service dog and asked for his "certification". I explained that there is no such thing as a certification for a service experience dog, and also that it is illegal to ask for special paperwork for a service dog. The manager again asked for the certification. I quietly handed him a small card with the basics of the law governing service animals. He continued to consult a notebook from under the counter that seemed to have guidelines for various scenarios. Again, he asked about certification. My dog is clearly marked as a service dog. He wears a service vest although the vest is not legally required. I kept my cool throughout this hassle. After much hemming and hawing, the manager finally decided he would "help me out" and accept the dog. This is flat out illegal!!! At this point, I asked for my loyalty points credit. It is in my husband's name. I was informed that since my husband was not there, I could not use the card even though my name is also listed. At this point, I gave up and walked out. I got a room at another hotel where there was no issue with either my service experience dog or my loyalty program. read more
